I think we already know what goes on off the ice/field without hearing every detail. I personally don't want to know anymore. I hope the TMZ sports crashes and burns! When this topic comes up, I always think of the 1996-2004 Red Wings team. I hold guys like Yzerman, Shanahan, Lidstrom, Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom, Chelios, Osgood, McCarty, Lapointe, Fedorov, etc. with so much respect for what they've did/done on the ice, that I don't want to know anything questionable they did off.

I've wondered, on a 5 minute major penalty (not fighting, but hitting from behind, spearing, etc.) when a team is on a power play for a full 5 minutes, how does that work when keeping track of a team's season PP% stats? Does it count as just one chance? Also what happens if a team scores 2 times in the 5 minutes? Is that considered 2/1 on that Power Play?

Thanks, I wasn't sure. I was wondering too if it worked similar to a double minor, where as if the team scored, then they start on their second chance, but still get the full 5 minutes.

Agreed. It's the amount of playoffs games we've played the last 3 years that's effecting us the most this season. And many of our players will be expected to play in the Olympics in February. It don't think it'll happen, but missing the playoffs or going out in the first round may not be too bad a thing for the players. I think our guys need a much needed rest.

Wow! I remember seeing someone wearing an Aaron Ward, and another guy Doug Brown. More power to them, but I was shocked considering all the guys we can choose from since the early 90's.

Agreed. I think the bankrupt teams should relocate to Seattle, Portland, Houston, West-Toronto or Hamilton, Winnipeg, and Quebec. Salt Lake City maybe a market they should look into as well.

It's not something their planning on doing, but it's something their going to have to do. They're going to have to get rid of the Salary Cap Floor as well, especially if they're going to add more Canadian markets, raising revenues. The Floor is what's bankrupting teams. Most teams were better off before the lockout. I second, third, fourth, etc. all the other replies here saying that the league needs to get smaller and not bigger. The NHL can't continue with how they're currently running things, or even think of adding more teams to this mess. Yup, that's the main reason why Bettman didn't want a team relocated to Hamilton, because they can get about $400,000,000 in expansion fees.

Lidstrom, and I'd like to see Ozzie win one more too... That's the thing that bugs me the most about losing Game 7 last year, Ozzie would have won the Conn Smythe. I still think we have a very good chance at winning the division and finishing 3rd in the Conference.

I don't care how many of them are out there, you can never go wrong with an Yzerman jersey.

I second what Jake Ryan said about New York. I think it would be very tough to figure out the #1 State for Hockey. You can make good cases for Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and Massachusetts for top spot.

Helm is a 3rd or 4th liner, so I don't see a problem.

I don't really know realistically how much better they could have done. 3 Cups in 6 years in this day in age is excellent. We'll never see teams win 4 in a row anymore. Scotty would shuffle the lines all the time, so it's not like he only split up the Russian 5. Look at all the different linemates Yzerman had from 1995-2002. I'm past the point of being pissed at Sergei.

Yea Z will be the next captain with Dats and Rafalski getting the A's. When Rafalski hangs 'em up or goes to another team, Kronwall get's the A. Many of you are saying Datsyuk and Cleary will get the A's, but normally at least one defense man wears a letter.

I stopped getting Standing Room tickets after I spent half of the first period one time trying to find a spot after a loooooong line at Detroit-Windsor tunnel. I figure I'd shell out another $15 for a guaranteed seat in the upper bowl from now on.
