How frequent do you guys go to games?

Yea as a Canadian taking my passport to Wings and Tigers games isn't much fun. I take the tunnel bus from Windsor to games, so I have to carry it around with me I keep hearing rumors about a North American Union and a Amero, similar to Europe, coming soon, and it seems they're making it tougher each year to cross the Canadian-American border.

Good for you. I did the math and the Wings are 7-4-2-2 when I see them live.

I'm a 3 hour drive from Hockeytown, so I've been to atleast one game a year since the 2000-01 season. A few seasons I've been to two games (2005-06 and 2007-08). This year I had horrible timing, I was at our only loss at The Joe so far this season vs. Colorado. I've also seen the Wings play 2 times in Toronto, and 2 more in Buffalo.

    Yzerman Speech

Agreed. They don't come any better than The Captain.

    HHOF tonight

Yea, they're doing some Olympic Hockey crap now. Buddy's going to walk in while Stevie is up there .

Stevie is up next. He may get his speech done just before my friend comes over. I'll have enough time to recover

    HHOF tonight

I have a friend coming over at 8:30, I think I want to watch Stevie's speech later on my own (I'm recording it) so he doesn't see me cry. Edit: I got a little choked up during Hull's speech (Luc is next) I can't imagine what I'll be like when it's The Captain's turn.
  8. I'm not going to start a debate about something I think has been blown way out of proportion, something the media loves to talk about to get ratings, and a shot I have no interest in getting, but athletes are coming down with H1N1 at a high rate. Going to different cities every couple of days makes them high risk. Some cities I'm sure have been infected more than others. Athletes can carry diseases like H1N1 across North America rather easily. Their kids can get it and infect the schools they go to. I hope the out cry from the general public about athletes is justified and has nothing to do with the money they make. I think athletes many times are unfairly criticized just because they make a big pay check. Most of the general public's day (I include myself when I say this) only involves going to work during the day, and then to someplace like the grocery store, movies, or a restaurant at night. We don't fly and have contact with people in other cities anywhere close to they do. Personally I think it's smart to vaccine Athletes and their families early along with other high risk people.
  9. Athletes are considered "high risk" since they travel so much and have contact with so many different people. The general public should just "chill out" because this has nothing to do with celebrities jumping the line.

Columbus another in line for possible relocation

They really need to redo the CBA. The small market teams were far better off financially before the lockout. That salary cap floor is really hurting the league. About half of the teams can't bring in enough revenue to cover what they are forced to pay to the players. Edit: The NFL is hurting too I've heard. It's funny, the league that doesn't have a cap, MLB, is the strongest financially.

    Congrads New York Yankees

Easy, we're the Yankees of the NHL.

Worst Start of the Season since 93-94?

And in our first 12 games this year, we only played 4 times at The Joe.

Best Cup Teams of the Decade

I have no disagreements with the list. If I put it together I would have ranked them the same way. I the 2002 team! It's my favorite of our 4 championships.

    RIP Pete Cusimano

R.I.P. Pete. All the best to your friends and family, and thanks for your contribution to Red Wings history.

If your crystal ball is working properly

Come on, the Wings will make the playoffs, we have some of the best talent in the league. I mentioned this in another discussion, in the first 12 games we've only played 4 at The Joe, where we are 3-0-1. Edit: To answer the question, I'm a Detroit fan. It's a city thing for me first and foremost.

What can Lidstrom do to fire up the boys?

I guess people don't realize we've play 8 games on the road so far and ONLY 4 at The Joe (Where we are 3-0-1). I think the schedule has something to do with an average start. Edit: To each their own, but it's good to look into things a bit before worrying.

    A History Lesson

Looking at the standings, we're only 3 pts out of first and have a game in hand. A couple straight wins, and everyone will feel better.

    Leafs

I was thinking you guys may want to check out this book call Leafs Abomination. I picked it up last night at Wal-Mart and I'm 54 pages into it. It talks about why the Leafs suck, and what needs to be done to make them into a Cup Contender again. Funny, the price is $19.67 http://www.amazon.com/Leafs-AbomiNation-di...8967&sr=8-1

    Leafs

Right, the Leafs are on every Saturday night on CBC because they draw the largest audience.

    NHL teams biased against francophones,

Good one, that made me laugh!

    NHL teams biased against francophones,

I think Quebec should become part of France and leave the rest of Canada alone.
  23. Barrie

    Leafs

Right. As soon as they're officially eliminated from the playoffs, they'll go unbeaten in 8.

    NHL teams biased against francophones,

Yea I'm wondering too if it has something to do with their personality compared to players from other provinces and countries? Being from Ontario, politicians from Quebec like to whine and are consistently talking about separating from Canada. Maybe it trickles down to the rest of the province? Not only do teams draft and pick up players based on skill, it's attitude as well.

    Leafs

Another problem the Leafs have is the amount of corporations who own the seasons tickets, the average person has been priced out of it. Most of the corporations don't care, it's a write off and a good way to entertain clients. Edit: Even if the non corporate people give up their tickets, there's someone who'd be happy to take them. The Leafs are in such a horrible cycle that they may never get out of it. They're the Chicago Cubs of the NHL. Looking at it from the outside, I'm glad I'm a Red Wings fan. This area is in bad need of another NHL team.
