It doesn't really matter if Leaf tickets are going for half on the open market, MLSE is still getting their money. People need to cancel their season tickets.
-
Yea I'm not sure about that either. The Leafs have the most, but I'm sure the Habs are a close 2nd.
-
Yes, it's regional. People in Quebec get the Montreal game, Ontario get's the Leafs. One of the two is nation wide. CBC then shows either Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton 10:00 Eastern/7:00 Central. CBC does the best they can to make the majority of people happy. There is more attention on the Leafs, but it's like the Yankees in America, they are in the biggest city so they get the best ratings.
-
Even the 1995-96 and 1996-97 Red Wings had average starts.
-
Great minds think alike, I was going to mention the records of both teams too.
-
5 games, 5 games... We started the season in Europe, and have only played two times at The Joe. It'll be ok.
-
Really? Colorado and the Isles aren't going anywhere. It'll probably be Phoenix, Atlanta, and Florida. Edit: They should move teams to Seattle and Houston too.
-
I would think the city of Quebec would need more assurance that if they built a new arena they can get a team... "but made no promises" wouldn't be enough for me to build a new arena. I'd want to be given the approval before I spent the millions.
-
I think I can only name one... Jeremy Roenick

Maybe a dumb question, but I don't look to closely into the Collective Bargaining Agreement, but will Franzen's salary be counted against the cap while he's out?
-
I think on paper we look better than last year.

Five things: Cap, Father Time catching up to consistent Wings

What about 2008? Oh and what about 3 straight seasons that went into June? Idiot! Haven't we been hearing the age excuse since 2001? I can't believe some people get paid to analyze sports. -
Crosby sucks! Edit: I can't wait until he sees what it's like to have the target on his chest now. People aren't going to be so nice to him. It still bugs me seeing him with The Cup like he was a big hero in the Final. Z shut him down! Talbot, Malkin, and Fleury were the heros for the Pens.

I don't think Canada wins a Medal this Olympics. The team is too young, doesn't have enough poise and experience compared to the other countries in Olympic play. The 2006 team on paper was better than 2010, and we all know what happened there. 2002 were the Kings of the Mountain with Yzerman, Sakic, and Lemieux (oosing of class and poise). Other than Neidermayer, who can lead the 2010 team when the going gets tough? Crosby, Getzlaf, and Iginla are too immature... Sweden plays Russia in the Gold Medal Game, and successfully defends Gold. Finland beats Canada for the Bronze. The Wings are still the best team in the West, Chicago has too many off ice problems to pass us this year, plus losing the Bulin Wall hurts. I haven't look at it to closely to make a pick for the East, most of my sports attention right now is on the 1st place Detroit Tigers

Yea to each their own. See the way I see it, it's a Sport not a National thing. If asked what group of players I'd rather see win a Hockey Championship: Group A: Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Datsyuk, Franzen, Filppula, Zetterberg, Kronwall, Rafalski, and Ericcson (I know that's 4 countries) or Group B: Fleury, Neidermayer, Phaneuf, Pronger, Crosby, Getzlaf, Iginla, Marleau, Nash, Perry, Smyth, J. Staal, Thornton, and Toews. I'm picking Group A, but I don't blame anyone who chooses B since it's team Canada. If you ask me what society I'd choose or who I'd support in a war, I'm all for Canada/USA! In International Hockey, win or lose, Canada and my life doesn't change either way. Sports is a hobby. Talking hockey, names like Crosby, Phaneuf, Pronger, Getzlaf, and Iginla, I think cry baby, over hyped, cheap shot artist, boarder line goon, and bad temper.
-
I'm proud of Canada and support it in other ways. This collection of hockey players, I can't. It's only a 2 week tournament anyway.
-
As a Canadian Wings fan, I have no interest in this version of team Canada. There's too many players on the team I don't like, and have been cheering against for years. I can't support Fleury, Neidermayer, Phaneuf, Pronger, Cindy, Getzlaf, Iginla, Marleau, Nash, Perry, Smyth, J. Staal, Thornton, and Toews, unless they become Detroit Red Wings. There's just too much bad blood there for ONLY a 2 week tournament. A few of these players have taken "a run" at our guys. I've never put to much importance in Olympic Gold anyway, the Wings Stanley Cups means 100x more to me. It's all a money grab to have the pros there. I'll either be neutral or follow Sweden as they defend the Gold Medal. Sorry Stevie and Babs.

I've got to the point now with Bettman, that I hope the NHL crashes and burns with their stubborn ideas, and is close to bankruptcy. Bettman will get canned, and the League will finally wake up and do things that will make them money, instead of losing it left and right. I think I can Market the League and actually make money better than this current group.
-
I think most Wings fans are Pistons fans. Edit: The 2004 NBA Title was even sweeter because the Pistons beat Kobe and Shaq! Ben, Sheed, Rip, Billups, and Prince not only beat them, but made them look bad too!
-
Don't forget Claude Lemieux!
-
I can't stand Iginla! The guy is always humble, "ah shucks", and well spoken off the ice, but turns insane on it. I'm really going to have a tough time cheering for team Canada at the Olympics. The team is going to be loaded with players I don't like and have been rooting against for many years (Iginla, Cindy, Thornton, Neidermayer, Pronger, Getzlaf, Phaneuf, Perry, Smyth, Toews, Fleury, and Staal)... I'll be neural, cheer for Sweden, or just not watch.
-
Lemieux is scum. That is all.
-
I'm ok with the deal. I really don't see a reason not to like it. Welcome back Bert!

It doesn't help that a Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1993.
