    rangers fan here

Thanks for the kind words. I've always said if I wasn't a Detroit sports fan, I'd be a New York (Yankees, Rangers, Giants, Knicks) guy, so I have a soft spot for the Rangers and cheer for them in the Eastern Conference (I don't mind Buffalo either). All the best to the Rangers next year. Take down those Penguins!

    Thank you Matt

Good job deleting those posts started by the loser Penguins fans who had nothing better to do, than to come over here and be ignorant on the night their team won the Stanley Cup.

What You'll Remember Most From This Season?

I'll remember the OT winners against Chicago and Ozzie's playoff the most.

How sad are you at the moment?

I got a text message about a minute after the horn went from a friend who's a Leafs fan saying, "Your team lost the game". My response was, "Your team never makes it to the game".

Nice. I got a Osgood t-shirt off EBay last week, I'm still waiting for it, but I'll wear it out as soon as I get it. I'm so proud of the guy for the post season he had.

    Thanks, Red Wings

The Wings broke the "being eliminated in the first round the next year after a Stanley Cup Champion streak". They got farther than I thought they would in the playoffs and can add another Division and Western Conference Championship to the rafters. I'm bummed they couldn't win back to back, but I'm proud of our season and playoffs. Those OT winners against Chicago were fun.

How sad are you at the moment?

To each their own, I'm not going to tell you how to feel, but we've won before, and we're set up to win more. I agree with other responses, having championships in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008 takes the sting out of this one, for me anyway.

How sad are you at the moment?

I'm feeling fine. It sucks we didn't win, but I'm glad the game had a clear winner. I'm proud of how far we were able to go and that we can add another Central Division and Western Conference Championship to the rafters. Our team is build so well that we'll be back and contending for the next 10 years at least. This is far from our toughest playoff loss/elimination. 1995, 1996, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2006 were a lot worse to take.

SCF GAME 7 GDT: Penguins 2 at Red Wings 1

It just so happened that I'm off work a few hours early. Being a Friday, after a week of work, I'm going to take a nap to prepare myself for a late night I say Ozzie continues his brilliant play at The Joe, and we win 3-0 I don't think the so called experience Pittsburgh gained last year has prepared them enough to handle a 7th and Cup Clinching Game at Joe Louis Arena. The whole thing will be to much for those kids to handle. It took us a couple trys to win the Cup last year. Surprisingly I'm not that nervous, I'm just looking forward to the game starting.
  11. Honestly, IF the Pens win, and that's a BIG IF, I won't watch the celebration with the Cup. I'll probably stay tuned in long enough to hear Bettman get booed by the Detroit fans, then do something else. I'll probably avoid the sports media for a while, like I did when we were eliminated early in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2006, and let things blow over. The media will be creaming themselves over Cindy and Malkin, so they can do that, while I get on with my life. As mentioned in another post, I'm kind of looking forward to the season being over on Friday. The NHL playoffs are to looooong, and I want to start thinking/watching/talking/hearing about something other than Hockey. Since I live in Canada, it's hockey 24/7, so I need a break. The Tigers have been playing excellent Baseball, so it's time to put my sports focus on them.

    Crosby Slowing Down?

All the more reason to chant, "Crosby Sucks!" Friday night.

SCF GAME 6 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Penguins 2

I can see now how one team has the momentum in the series and the other team is probably finished. This morning I saw interviews with Cindy and Staal, both made comments sounding like they were happy and proud of the fact they made it all the way to the finals again, especially since at one point in the season they were 11th in the Conference. With that said, 4-1 Good Guys! for the 5th time in 12 seasons, and Ozzie wins the Conn Smythe!

    Crosby is Jealous of Zetterberg

Same. I was actually starting to enjoy watching him play in the first two rounds. However Crosby is really showing himself to be a player that when things are going good, his behavior is good, and when things are going bad, he's a tool. He's turning out to be like Iginla, it's night and day. You have to start to wonder if this is an organization thing. You never see this kind of stuff with Detroit, EVER! And we've seen this team win big and lose big. Detroit is gracious in defeat. I wonder if the Wings organization teaches the players to behave, or drafts guys who keep their cool in tough times?

    Pittsburgh showed their character... AGAIN!

The League really needs to step in and start suspending guys for losing their cool. The NHL should keep their players safe. Also if they are trying to gain new fans in the USA, how does it look when one team are a bunch of poor sports? All it shows Americans is that Canadians and Europeans are a bunch of babies when things don't go their own way. Hockey is probably the only occupation when you're loosing you can start beating up your opponent. Imagine if that was allowed in society? If you lose a client to someone, it's ok to beat them up. It isn't civil. I'm starting to wonder if the courts need to step in. Hockey isn't a good example to kids.

NHL poster boys don't set a good example

I agree. I was thinking the same thing during the game. On national television, Crosby and Malkin, the two players the NHL has given their man love too, lost it and looked like babies! You would NEVER see Datsyuk or Zetterberg act like that!

    MVP - Ozzie or Hank

If we finish this off, I vote Ozzie.

Pittsburgh's Immaturity After Game 4 Cost Them

I was wondering if the Pens players partied it up a little to much after Game 4 and weren't ready at all for Game 5. Plus they probably listened to much to the media who were saying we were to tired.

    Thoughts from the Penguin's Nest

I'm wondering how Pittsburgh recovers from this loss? They were blown away! At least after Games 1 + 2 there was hope because they outshot the Wings both games. Tonight the two guys they rely on the most acted like a bunch of babies. Cindy and Malkin completely blew and lost composure, on national television too! You would NEVER see Datsyuk or Zetterberg act that way. Add to that, they need to try and comeback against the defending Stanley Cup Champions, and the Wings are re-energized. The Wings have done it all and know how to close out a series. There probably won't be any nerves going into a Cup clinching game, like we saw in Game 5 last year.

SCF GAME 5 GDT: Penguins 0 at Red Wings 5

I love the "Crosby Sucks!" chant tonight! Malkin and Crosby still have a lot of growing up to do! What a bunch of babies! The biggest game of the year and they absolutely blew offensively and lost their composure! Give me Datsyuk and Zetterberg any day. I don't think there's even a debate when naming the best 1-2 punch in the NHL, it's Dats and Z no question. Who watched CBC? Did you hear Don Cherry say after the game there would be a Game 7? Before they dropped the puck for Game 1, Don said Wings in 6. Stick with your original prediction "Grapes". What a tool! Anyway, just like the rest of you I'm thrilled! Hossa's got a chance to win the Cup on Pittsburgh ice. I love it!! One more win!! Winning never get's old! I want this Cup as much as the other 4! Let's Go Red Wings!!
