I'd like to point out in the biggest game of the year Cindy and Malkin tonight were a combined minus 3, had only 2 shots, and 8 minutes in penalties. I love it!!
-
Yea Coffey77 great series so far. It'll be an excellent finish! It's a little to close for my liking, and I'm sure you feel the same way. Good Luck to both teams. If Pittsburgh wins, so be it, whatever happens, happens, I can live with it. Hopefully it'll be a clear cut winner. The 2009 Playoffs have been one of the best in recent history and doesn't need anything questionable to decide it.
-
Well we're playing at home and Datsyuk is back. I'll go with the odds and say we win, 4-2. Pittsburgh has to win at The Joe if they want to win the Stanley Cup, we don't have to win in The Igloo. I wonder if this will be a Home series?
-
I would think Yzerman doesn't do signings because he's to popular. He'd shutdown an entire mall on his own. He could probably shutdown all of downtown.
-
Is it just me, or has Pittsburgh really missed a golden opportunity to get an early lead in this series? We're up 2-1 with Draper back, and Datsyuk back either tonight or for Game 5. It's only going to get harder for Cindy and the Pens as it goes along.
-
Is that what Cindy said? These guys learned nothing from last year! Keep your mouth shut! Whatever pressure we had going into Game 4, they've got it all back now. Thanks idiot!
-
FYI, I was thinking today, in the 2009 Playoffs we are 5-0 in Games 4 + 5 so far. Hopefully the trend continues, and we're skating with Stanley on the weekend. I said Wings in 5, with Pittsburgh winning Game 3, at the beginning of the series. So far I've been correct. Wings win 4-2 tonight. Let's Go Red Wings!!
-
Oh well, no surprise, I figured Pittsburgh would win tonight. As much as I'd like to have seen us sweep, we aren't playing Columbus here.

I heard an interview on the radio with Gary today and he said they same thing, that it was his idea to try a back-to-back for Games 1 + 2 and that NBC let them choose what time the games were going to start. He's so full of crap it's not even funny! NBC didn't want a Hockey game on the same night as Conan O'Brien's first night hosting the Tonight Show and Jay Leno switching to 10pm. The NHL had to go back-to-back to be on NBC!

It looks like you can use more bodies on the blueline, I'm in and I'm Canadian too!
-
A goalie with confidence wins the Conn Smythe Trophy too.
-
Right, I was thinking today that Ozzie's positioning is so good that Pittsburgh has to shoot wide to have any kind of chance of beating him, leading to the posts.
-
I heard today that 32 times a team has gone up 2-0 in a Stanley Cup Final, and only ONE team lost the series. Think of it this way, Pittsburgh HAS to beat us in 5 games or less to beat us. I said Wings in 5 when the series started, with Pittsburgh winning Game 3. I'll stick with that, but I wouldn't be surprised if we win Game 3 too and the Pens get booed off the ice. Ozzie's on fire and Pittsburgh is probably more frustrated this year than last year. True when you're on the road you don't get the last change, but sometimes that can be a good thing. I think the mindset at home is defense first, but when you're on the road you can throw out lines and challenge the home team to try and stop you. Now lets see if Crosby and Malkin can stop Zetterberg, Hossa, and Franzen. We're a team of Champions and winners, we'll finish 'em off and win our 12 Stanley Cup.

Dude, yes I watched the game. The Pens can't keep up with the Wings depth. Now to add to my comment about the West being miles ahead of the East. Since 1995-96, the Eastern Conference has only won 4 Stanley Cups (2000, 2003, 2004, and 2006). 3 of those Cup wins, the Eastern Conference had to go to a full 7 games to beat the West. And those 3 teams in the West were 7th (Anaheim in 2003), 6th (Calgary in 2004), and 8th (Edmonton in 2006) seeded teams. Again I say, the West is miles ahead of the East, and has been for 13 seasons. This is very similar to the situation in the NFL in 80's to mid 90's when the NFC dominated the Superbowl over the AFC.
-
I'm not at all upset about the non-Malkin suspension, but you make an excellent point about the Datsyuk and Lidstrom suspensions.
-
If you can believe it, CBC has a bigger hard on for Crosby and Pittsburgh. I've been watching NBC over CBC a lot lately, even when we played Chicago, they are the lesser of two evils.
-
Right, with all the 1984 Oilers and 2009 Penguins talk going in, I was thinking this is more like 1992 and 1993 Superbowls when the Dallas Cowboys played the Buffalo Bills. Different sport, but you probably get my comparison. Still two more wins to go, but the Western Conference is miles ahead of the Eastern Conference right now, just like the NFC vs. the AFC in the late 80's to mid 90's.
-
That's classic!
-
Yea that wasn't a penalty.
-
Yup if we hold on, Ozzie wins the Conn Smythe.
-
Oh well having Malkin out maybe something Pittsburgh can rally around, just like what we did, and still are, with the Lidstrom and Datsyuk injuries. Keep that puss Malkin in there so he can continue to be stopped by Ozzie and our D.
-
Hank got a few good shots in there when the ref was trying to break them up. Way to go Z I always try and find a moment where a team panics, Malkin's fight may have been that moment. I wouldn't be surprised either way if Malkin's in, or if he isn't. However, there's rules for a reason, and I think Malkin should sit out Game 3.
-
I have been soooo impressed with the officiating! They are letting the teams play. The players are going to decide this one, not the refs! :beerbuddy: Wow Games 1 + 2 have looked identical! Did they put a tape of Game 1 on? Ha-ha! So much for back-to-back nights being an advantage for Pittsburgh! We shoved that theory right down their throats! All we need to do is split in Pittsburgh and we have a change to win a 12th Cup at home!
-
If the Wings win the Cup this year, what era is more impressive?
Barrie replied to Headmanthepuck!'s topic in General
I think if the Wings win the Cup this year, the 1995-2009 team should be in the Dynasty section at the Hockey Hall of Fame no questions asked. Here's a couple example pics I found for the 1960's Maple Leafs and 1980's Oilers: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2115/197002...6257995.jpg?v=0 http://farm1.static.flickr.com/44/14954725...0d0892f.jpg?v=0 -
I don't really see a need to be concerned. Yes his production has been down the last two playoffs years, but it hasn't effected the team in a negative way. He's never been a guy who makes big mistakes that cost the team.
