SCF GAME 2 GDT: Penguins 1 at Red Wings 3

Game 1 I said 4-1. I figured we be up 3-1, then hit an empty net. I was sooo close!! Game 2 I think we'll win 4-2. Holmstrom, Zetterberg, Hossa, and Lidstrom with the goals. I don't care who scores for Pittsburgh because they can go screw themselves (It's the Stanley Cup Finals folks, emotions are running high). I don't mind these back-to-back games. Pittsburgh doesn't have enough time to get over their frustrations, so we can stick it to them again in a hurry.

    Who knows, that maybe coming.

Crosby and Malkin... who are they?

I'm very surprised Crosby and Malkin don't kill penalties. Your best players should be out there in every situation.

Crosby and Malkin... who are they?

Man Malkin was lucky he just saw Kronwall at the last second. If Kronwall would have hit him, it would have been lights out for Malkin.

Big Rig says Pens tried to spear his stomach

Right, that's why teams use upper and lower body injury, because they know when the player comes back he'll be targeted where he was injured. Naming half of the body in an injury means the opposing team needs to take the time to figure out where to hit him. Also, I'm not surprised Big Rig was speared, this was the same team punching Franzen in the head after he came back from a concussion. They're a classy bunch there in Pittsburgh. When Datsyuk comes back, he'll be hacked on the foot, and Draper will be speared in his groin.

SCF GAME 1 GDT: Penguins 1 at Red Wings 3

That would have been great if Maltby was able to bury the rebound and score a goal late in the 3rd! I love seeing those guys (Malts, Draper, and Holmstrom) in the playoffs. Blast from the past!

Excellent start! As expected, our depth comes through again. Pittsburgh can't keep up with our 3rd and 4th lines. I have nothing to back me on this, but I think Datsyuk missed Game 1 so he can play Game 2.

    Promise me this Wings Fans

As nice as you're trying to be, I promise nothing. If what we say here will bother you, stay at Pittsburgh Message Board. Why even come over here? This is the Stanley Cup Finals, what are you expecting to read?

What does Max Talbot have in common with Brian Campbell?

Agreed, why even bother going to another team's board? As if we'd start discussions saying good things about Pittsburgh and that they are going to win the Stanley Cup. I would never expect to go over to a Pens Board thinking I'd see pro Wings discussions.

    Are you Superstitious

I'm not superstitious at all, well at least not anymore. I was a little more superstitious back during our 1997 and 1998 Cup runs, but now I know nothing I do can effect the outcome of the game. Also, thinking about superstitions, I would not want what I do to effect the Wings. If I forget, and we lose, I wouldn't want Detroit fans mad at me, we can be brutal! Maybe that's my superstition is not doing anything.

    4-1 Wings!

This time it will be different

As mentioned in another discussion, Pittsburgh had a better team last year. They aren't as deep without Hossa and Malone. With Crosby and Malkin combining for 56 pts, I'm surprised it's not a concern in the media when analyzing the Pens. Thinking that Crosby and Malkin can beat the defending Champions on their own is insane! Detroit with Hossa and the way Helm is playing, is better than last year, even with Datsyuk at 50%-75%.

The 2009 Pens are not the 1984 Oilers

The 2009 Pens are not the 1984 Oilers

I agree 100% and I've been saying the same thing the last few days. There's no comparison! Also, Crosby isn't Gretzky! Crosby isn't even the best player in the league! I don't mind when someone doesn't pick my favorite team to win, but this pro-Pittsburgh talk is getting to the point where I want to :puke:! Pittsburgh had a better team last year than this year, and with Hossa and the way Helm is playing, Detroit is better than last year. Wings in 5. I think mostly this has to do with the fact that people don't want to see the Red Wings win again. Despite my questioning the media, I like the fact Pittsburgh is getting all the hype going into this.

2009 Playoff Picks Game: Round 4

I'm not in the game, but I just wanted to say Wings in 5.

    Rob Parker-Wings wont repeat

Maybe it's just me, but shouldn't it be a concern that Malkin and Crosby has combined for 56 point? Shut those guys down, and Pittsburgh is in a lot of trouble! The Pens were deeper last year than this year. Compare that to Detroit, we can win playoff games without Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Draper. If the media wants to continue to bring up 1983 and 1984, they should also mention that this is the 11th time the same two teams have played in back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships. 7 of 10 times, the team that won the cup the first year, won it the second time.

    The offical good Karma thread

I like how Pittsburgh lost to us in the Finals last year.

    Finals officials! Hallelujah!

I agree on both points. McCreary is my favorite ref in the league, and has been for years.

    Wings get no respect

Just something else I'd like to say about the comparison between the 1984 Oilers, 2009 Penguins, and history. In the 1984 Stanley Cup Final, Edmonton had a 15 pt advantage over the Islanders (119 to 104) in the regular season. 2009, Detroit has a 13 pt advantage over Pittsburgh (112 to 99). Also, in an era where teams are awarded an extra point for losing a game after regulation, something they didn't have in 1984, Pittsburgh ONLY had 99 pts on the year. We are the Oilers of the 1980's. Again, the comparison between Crosby's Penguins and Gretzky's Oilers is a joke! Also, Crosby isn't Gretzky. In my opinion, that's very very poor analysis by people who are paid to talk hockey. It's one of the many reasons this year why I've passed on the pre and post game shows and all the off day talk on TV and Radio. Just play the game!!

    Wings get no respect

I think the comparison between the 2008 and 2009 Stanley Cup Finals to the 1983 and 1984 Finals is a complete joke! The 2008 and 2009 Penguins are no where near the 1983 and 1984 Oilers! It's not even a comparison! The Oilers had Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Anderson, Coffey, Huddy, Lowe, Fuhr, Moog, etc., etc., etc.. The Pens have Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, and ummmm. The Red Wings of 1995 to today are the Oilers of the 1980's. Pittsburgh is comparable to the teams the Oilers beat to win their 5 Stanley Cup Championships. However, I don't mind all this talk, I hope it goes to Pittsburgh's players and their fans heads. They'll think they've already got this thing won, just because of history, even before playing a game. The Red Wings, just like Ozzie, will have more motivation to shut people up. I expect Hossa to have a big series. Pittsburgh is going to have to tighten up on "D", try and slow the Red Wings down, and try and control the play to beat the Red Wings. Good luck! The Red Wings will continue to use all 4 lines to perfection and have the puck all game. Plus we can still win games without Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Draper to a team similar to Pittsburgh.

    Game 4 Refs

Hawks fans should be more upset their team couldn't take advantage of the Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Draper injuries.

    Greetings from Pittsburgh

Unless Pittsburgh is like the Buffalo Bills and we're the Dallas Cowboys. 1992 and 1993 Dallas beat Buffalo both years in the Superbowl.
