Agreed, that's the way I see it too. Hiller and Cleary both had the right to the puck, where it was sitting in the crease. Cleary won the battle, we move on, they play golf. Along with those Ducks PP's, I wonder if Anaheim fans remember the Selanne goal. Osgood had a Ducks player fall on his goal stick, he couldn't get back to try and make a save. I say if Cleary's goal get's called back, so should Selanne's. For the record, I think both goals should stand (Osgood was outside the crease), I'm just saying. I can understand the frustration when the goal happens, and a few hours later, but by the next day, people should understand the rules, and know it was legit and the right call.

I for one and I'm glad the team with more talent and who creates more scoring chances for themselves, is up in the series. Teams that bully and turn a hockey game into a street fight shouldn't even be in the playoffs in the first place.

The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal
Barrie replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
Why are we even arguing about this? They are both on our side. One year Datsyuk will look better, the next it'll be Zetterberg. I'm sure it'll go back and forth a few times before they retire. -
We the fans can gloat all we want, we don't play. If the players are gloating, then we should worry. Wow, Therrien was complaining about holding and interference too. Maybe I'm wearing Red Wings glasses, but I don't see it. We're just to quick for our opponents and we have the puck all the time, I guess the opposition thinks that's holding and interference. "We want the puck" Anaheim should face facts, they are an 8th seeded team going up against the Defending Champions. Not only are we trying to win the Cup again, we're trying to get revenge for 2007. Also, the Ducks top players are worn out and they have been badly outplayed since mid way through Game 3. If it wasn't for the quick whistle late in that game, the Wings would have ended the series in 5 no question.

There's no cap room, Hossa's gone after this year.
-
Did you hear him on 97.1 in mid-February doing color? I thought he did a good job.
-
I think DMac will play one more year in Grand Rapids, then join the broadcast booth for 2010-11.
-
Draper will be around 2 more years. DMac is done, and Maltby probably has a year left.
-
Yea Draper's still got two good years left. They guy is in excellent shape. Helm will be in there over Abdelkader or Maltby, not Draper.
-
Happy Birthday Stevie! :band: A class act on and off the ice.
-
We'll never see a better rivalry than Detroit had with Colorado from 1996-2002, never!!
-
We're playing without Draper and Rafalski, I hope Getzlaf is out.

Potential Disaster for the NHL in this Playoff Round?
Barrie replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
That kind of thinking is why ESPN doesn't show games anymore, and NBC can show games for free. The NHL is HORRIBLE at Marketing itself. There's way to many upsets in the playoffs, and it has hurt the game in many many different ways. Mediocrity rules the NHL. Edit: Despite seeing the Wings win 4 Cups in 11 seasons, I have thought for years the NHL playoffs are a joke and favor the 5-8 seeds over the 1-4. Allowing teams to play "the trap" against their most marketable teams has dumbed the game down, lead to the horrible tv ratings, and overall low interest in the game. I think there's a problem if 6, 7, or 8 seeds can go all the way to the Finals. You'd never see that in the NBA, they wouldn't allow it. -
Same here, after the 1st overtime I used my tv for my workout dvd's and put the game on the computer, so I could hear if anyone scored. After years of being against any change to OT in the playoffs, I think I would be for going down to 4-4 after a OT period or two, when considering the number of rounds and games it takes to win the Stanley Cup.

I'm not surprised Anaheim won a game in Detroit. They're a good team, they won the Cup two years ago. This will be a close 6 or 7 Game Series, so get ready. Edit: Vancouver and Boston lost at home too, and I would bet Pittsburgh ties up their series against Washington as well. This is the playoffs folks...
-
The also start talking about the state of Michigan Economy when they can't beat us. Even more childish.
-
I have been very impressed with Chicago in the playoffs. Before the first round started I wanted to see Detroit-Vancouver series, but I think I'd rather see a Detroit-Chicago go at it best of 7. Detroit and Chicago play a very similar style of game. I wouldn't be surprised if Chicago is up 3-1 going back to Vancouver for Game 5 with that crowd at the United Center.
-
I'm sure if we lost Game 1 Rafalski would be in there for Game 2. It's probably a case where if we're winning, give him extra rest.

Excellent post nick

Agreed. That's what bugs me too about the whole, "Keep your head up" argument. Hudler was creating offense and trying to help his team tie the game. Isn't scoring goals the main objective?
-
Typical Canadians. Most Canadians will say guys that get hit like that, it's their fault for not keeping their head up. I'm proud to say, I'm not like most Canadian hockey fans. There's nothing wrong with rough play and hitting, but players know when they have guys in a vulnerable position, they should ease up. I'm glad the league is finally suspending guys for hits to the head, instead blaming the guy who got hit.
-
It's beyond me how anyone can condone Brown's hit on Hudler. Players know when someone is vulnerable, they have enough time to ease up. They should watch out for each other's health and well being out there the best they can. I think it's unfair to say someone who just got smoked after making a pass and creating offense should be told by tv guys in suits to keep his head up. Brown was being a bully, he's a good 6 inches taller than Hudler, he knew what he was doing. He got what he deserved by the refs and I wouldn't be against a suspension.

Hey fellow Canadian Wings fans, join me in e-mailing TSN about putting Game 1 of the Wings-Ducks on TSN2. This will be the second game in a row the Wings are on TSN2! What's the deal? I have regular cable, so I don't get TSN2, and neither do Rogers Cable subscribers. I'm sure only about 30%, or less, of Canada even has TSN2. I think it's a joke to put the Wings-Ducks on TSN2 and Boston-Carolina on TSN. I'd bet money the TV ratings for the Wings-Ducks would be on par or even better than the Pens-Caps. The Wings-Ducks are the last two Champions, and the star power in this series is overall the best. I'm convinced all TSN is doing is advertising their new station so they can make some extra money. audiencerelations@tsn.ca if you want to send them something.
