What can we do other than let Ozzie play out of it. The guy's won 300+ games and been in goal for two Stanley Cup runs. We know it can be a rollercoaster ride with Oz.
-
The Sharks have to get to the Conference Finals first.
-
Don't forget we were outshot. Ozzie can't get all the blame if we allow 41 shots.
-
It would have been nice to beat the Sharks, but I don't mind finishing 2nd in the Conference. Let the Sharks finish 1st.

Zetterberg denies report of rejecting 10yr, $75 million deal.

I think Z should make more than Lidstrom, but that's just me. -
Not to get too technical, but the game Maltby lost his stick and blocked atleast two shots on a penalty kill was against St. Louis, Game 5, 2002 Playoffs. Don't forget Maltby's OT goal in the 1999 playoffs vs. Colorado. Great retrospectives by the way, you couldn't have pick two better guys to highlight their careers. I'll miss them when they decide to hang them up.

I think the Bertuzzi and Calder trades worked out well for us. We were able to get to the Conference Finals in 2007, which helped out guys like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Kronwall get some much needed playoff experience.
-
Scoring goals hasn't been a problem, and we're winning, so I don't see a reason to put Z, Dats, and Homer back together for now. If scoring was down, and the offense needed a kick in the rear, then yea, put them back together.

Yea I think Billy Waters came up with the name. It got and still does, get a lot of air play on tv, radio, and in the papers.

There's ways for sports writers to say things without looking like a tool. Simple things like, "Is this the end of the Red Wings run?" and state reason why are a lot safer, instead of making things sound like fact only a few weeks into a season. The most interesting thing to me about the article was: Not only was he wrong about the Wings, he was wrong about the Tigers.

We're starting to pick it up at the right time of year, as I expected would happen....

Toews is going to learn fast that he needs to watch what he says.

Here are mine. I'll stay away from Cup clinching games, because those are at the top of the list. 1997 Brawl game vs. Colorado. -DMac gets revenge on Claude Lemieux and shows the world how big of a coward and piece of trash he is. Game 3 1997, Stanley Cup Final. -Complete domination over the Flyers, 6-1. The crowd was probably the loudest I've heard it outside of Cup clinching games. Game 2, 1998 Stanley Cup Final. -The comeback! We were down 3-1 going into the 3rd. Stevie got us going with a SH goal, and after 3 periods it was 4-4. Draper scored 15 minutes into OT. Game 7, 2002 WCF. -7-0 over the AVS to advance to the Cup Final. We won the rivarly against the AVS. Wings-AVS games haven't been the same since that night. Game 2, 2004 Playoffs vs. Calgary. -Despite losing the series in 6, Stevie scored 2 goals in a 5-2 win. Game 5, 2007 Playoffs vs. Calgary. -I think the score was 5-2. We got the advantage over the Flames in the series and eliminated them in Game 6. Cleary scored on a Penalty Shot, and Chelios got his first, and I think, only goal of the season. Games 1 + 2, 2008 Stanley Cup Final. -We totally dominated Crosby, Malkin, and the rest of the Pens. It set up a series victory in 6 games, and our 4th Stanley Cup in 11 Seasons.

Nothing against Hossa, but I'm all for Franzen! I hope we let Sammy walk. Helm and Leino should be with the Wings next year.
-
I was thinking the same thing, "Ummm, that whistle looks like a ........"
-
Tootoo reminds me of Claude Lemieux.

I was a little worried today when the Lions were only down by 3 or something like that. After starting 0-12, I was rooting for 0-16, and the Lions didn't disappoint . The Wings and Tigers hit rock bottom before changes were made. Hopefully this FINALLY turns things around.

What do you think could jumpstart the Wings? The playoffs. I'm not a fan of 16 teams making the playoffs, I like 8 or 12. Teams as good as the Wings, the regular season is a . With less teams in the playoffs, the regular season actually means something. Personally I think these races for the final playoff spots the NFL this year are excellent. It involves teams with winning records, unlike the NHL where it's .500 teams fighting to get in the playoffs.

Yup Shootouts suck! Always have, always will! I never had problems with ties.
-
Credit to the Wings for getting a point after being down 3-0, on the back half of back-to-back nights, and without Lidstrom.
-
I would think Colorado still hates us the most. I'm sure most, if not all, die hard Avs fans haven't gotten over the 7-0 game in 2002. Plus we completely smoked them last year in the second round. Edit: Wings fans hatred toward the Avs is in the past. Avs fans still hate us with a passion.
-
This is why the salary cap sucks!! We should be able to keep Zetterberg, Franzen, and Hossa, but thanks to Gary Bettman, Atlanta, Florida, Phoenix, Nashville, Columbus, etc. we can't. I'm all for keeping Zetterberg and Franzen. Hossa's been great, but he can go after this year.

I'll admit The Joe isn't much to look at on the outside, isn't in the best part of town, and the shared concorse level is brutal, but once you get to your seat, it's a great amtoshpere. You can feel the history with all the banners in the rafters, and with the corporate suites above the upper level, there isn't a bad seat in the place (well except the last few rows). I'm not a big fan of the ACC, it's to corporate. The Joe has a less corporate feel to it and overall is more fan friendly from my experiences being at both building. The ushers at The Joe allow you to go to ice level during warm ups, and sometimes they tell you the fastest way to get down there. However I understand that fans like their home building the best and look beyond their faults.
-
My only complaint of the Joe is the shared concorse. It's a pain, in the you know where, getting out to the street after a game. The concession and washroom lines during the game are brutal too, to the point where I don't, unless there's an emergency, leave my seat during the game. I know some people have problems with the location of the arena, but I come from Windsor for games, so I love the location. I'm ok either way. If they build a new arena, that's cool, if The Joe stays around for a while, that's cool too. There's to many memories and moments in that building. I'd really miss that place once it's gone.

I think my favorite is Jason Neil. That Chris Soppel is one ugly dude!
