I don't think people are bashing him. In his prime, Shanny was right up there with Yzerman and McCarty as God's in Detroit. Their comments and opinions are based on the fact he's 39 and slow, not the Shanahan of 5-10 years ago. I'm a big a Shanny fan as the next guy, but at this point in his career, he's a horrible fit for the team.
-
Where ever he ends up, I hope he can make one last trip to The Joe, so he can get the Standing Ovation he deserves.

Osgood.

Just wait until the Philly wins the World Series.

We were saving it for you.

Congrats to Feds!

http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/8719732...eback?-Could-be Claude Lemiuex is trying to make a comeback. Honestly, I hope his comeback crashes and burns. The league is better without him.

Yea true, good point. Both teams are built and coached different. Shanny is a better fit for Yzerman's team and Hossa is a better fit for Datsyuk's/Zetterberg's/Lidstrom's team. But overall, if both guys were in their prime, I'd take Shanny.
-
I'd take Shanny over Hossa without really having to think hard about it.
-
If we ever get a 3rd jersey, that should be it.
-
Losing Quincey won't make one bit of difference, even if he turns out to be a better player than Meech and Lebda. We still have Ericsson and Kindl in Grand Rapids.
-
Howe-Abel-Lindsay In the 1998 and 2002 Playoffs Bowman put Shanahan-Fedorov-Yzerman together. Should they be on the list?
-
You gotta love the guys we drafted the same year as our Championships, guys that helped us win again. The list includes: Datsyuk Fischer Hudler Filppula Meech Ericsson http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/teams/dr00005492.html Also, I like how there's a lot of recognizable names in the lists.
-
Nah Hossa's here for one year that's it. The Cap probably won't go up next year, and I would think we'll sign Franzen over Hossa.
-
Why would he want to make Billions, if he could make........ Millions. Seriously Zetterberg should make more than Datsyuk due to inflation.
-
Ummm it's a different situation now. Going into the 2005-06 Season we had to eliminate about half of our payroll. Plus Fedorov's contact would have been 5 seaons long. This season would have been the last year.
-
Nice one . Next time I'm at Best Buy I'll do that too.
-
Nice job Kid Rock!

4 games after two straight 100+ game seasons and a Stanley Cup Championship, and I read comments like this. Helm's only 21, he'll be here full time sooner than later.
-
Maybe the Wings didn't sign him because they knew a Salary Cap was coming. Looking back, it's better Fedorov wasn't signed or else we would have had serious Cap problems going into the 2005-06 season.
-
Rush sucks too. Actually they don't suck, since I'm Canadian, I'm just sick of 'em. They are on the radio all the time!
-
Shanny didn't leave the same way Fedorov did. Plus Shanny and the fans knew his days as a Red Wing were over. Shanny wasn't the only one who disappeared in the 2003, 2004, and 2006 Playoffs. The whole team couldn't score when it counted.
-
Def Leppard sucks!
-
If it happens I wonder what fan reaction will be? Fedorov could be the only player to ever has his number retired and be booed during the ceremony.
-
Eva's comments were harmless. If this was another franchise (Toronto or Montreal, or the New York Yankees ) Draper may be considered for number retirement. It a tough call, it's nice to see numbers retired and our favorite players honored, but it's good to see a franchise like Detroit keep it elite. As I mentioned, if standards weren't as high as they are, the Wings could have 16 numbers in the rafters within the next 15 years.
