    Holland on Yzerman

I agree. It's similar to the Tigers hiring Allan Trammell as their manager in 2003. When it happened I thought, "Why would they do that? Allan is just going to get fired in a few seasons." Sure enough after 2005, Tram was out the door. If Stevie took a job with another team, I would hate to see him go, but would wish him all the best and have no hard feelings. Similar to my feelings towards Bowman going to Chicago. It would be interesting to see if Stevie would ever go to another team. He doesn't seem like the guy that would want to uproot his family.

Everyones' favorite NHL team and why

If I wasn't a Wings fan I would probably be either a Sabres or Rangers fan. Mostly it's a geographic thing, since Sourthern Ontario borders Michigan and New York state and I can't stand Toronto teams. Detroit is far and away my #1 sports city, New York is a very very very distant 2nd. Yes, If I wasn't a Wings/Tigers/Pistons/Lions fan, my teams would probably be Sabres or Rangers/Yankees/Knicks/Giants. I've thought of this before.

Still Bitter about Game 5 loss

I'm not bitter about Game 5, but I do have problems watching the highlights from it. It was a heartbreaker not to win at home, but the playoffs ended the way we wanted them too.

datsyuk AND zetterberg conn smythe because....

The same could have been said for Yzerman in 2002. The last half of the run, he tailed off a bit because of his knee. Even if someone is 100%, it doesn't guarantee they'll light it up.

datsyuk AND zetterberg conn smythe because....

I'm taking nothing away from Dats, he had a great year, but how many goals did he score at home in the playoffs? 1 I think. Zetterberg was Playoff MVP, no question. Ozzie was probably 2nd, Datsyuk 3rd, maybe 4th. I think a case could be made for Kronwall finishing 3rd.

Bowman named Senior Advisor to Blackhawks

Agreed. I have no hard feelings, none, about Scotty going to Chicago. Also, I was unaware, untill I read this discussion, that he'll have the opportunity to work with his Son. I think that's great!

Bowman named Senior Advisor to Blackhawks

What can you say to Scotty but "Thanks". Despite going to Chicago, I wish him all the best.

    Filppula signs 5-Year, $15M contract

You gotta love being a Red Wings fan. We have the cup for the 4th time in 11 years, and by July 30th, we've got everything ready for the up coming season. We can just sit back, enjoy the rest of the Summer and wait for Training Camp.

    Teams Nobody Cares About

Funny, if this list was done 25-30 years ago, the Red Wings would have been on it.

    Teams Nobody Cares About

Stupid list. If all those teams were winning, it would be a different story.

    Vote Detroit as TITLETOWN

You mean to tell me the fans are voting on Titletown? I'm sorry, but what a joke! You know 90% of fans are going to vote for their hometown. This whole thing is stupid. Oh by the way, I still voted. New York got my vote.

    Hossa Jersey for sale?

Atleast Ben was a huge part of the 2004 Championship. I'd wear a Wallance jersey to a game. It's not like those people who got a Wendel Clark jersey.

    The Redwings 07-08 DVD

Yea that part is brutal! Realizing that I couldn't skip through it, and finding out how long it was, when it finally finished I thought, "I can't believe I have to watch this everytime I put the DVD in!"

    93 to the rafters!

Thanks for the laugh Doggy. I was getting ready to read and possibly post a reply thinking you were talking about Franzen. With they way the Leafs honor numbers, Gilmour and Clark should be there. This isn't a knock on Toronto, to each their own, but I'm glad the Red Wings retire numbers and not honor them.

have any of you ever written to NHL players?

The day the Wings bought out McCarty in 2005 I sent him and e-mail through his website saying how big a fan I am of his, and how upset I was to see him go. He e-mailed me back saying that's how the sports business is and there's nothing he can do about it, but that I made his day.

    Detroit day on ESPN Classic

Yea but we should have had a better 1st period.

    Titletown USA

Agreed. Even though I put some comments in about who should win, I think this is pointless. What happens for example if Boston wins, and in the next 10 years their teams don't win another Championship for the city. And in the same period of time, Philly (never happen, but for example sake) wins 2 World Series, 2 NBA titles, and a Stanley Cup Final. Does Titletown go to Philadelphia?

    Ryan Miller extended

Leaf fans would say the same thing about Toronto, but would be serious about it.

Official: Wings vs Blackhawks in Winter Classic

I got to hand it to the NHL for making this possible. This will be a huge event!! I don't care what kind of outdoor game they set up after Wings-Hawks at Wrigley, I don't think anything will top this one.

    Emery a victim of Racism?

I'm sad to see that this article was written by Mike Toth. I listen to him daily on the FAN590 and appreciate his work and opinions on all sports. This has nothing to do with race, but has everything to do with Emery's off-ice actions making headlines, late arrivals for practices, 12-13-4 record, 3.13 goals against average, and a .890 save percentage this past season. Anytime someone plays the race card, they take an argument to a new and dangerous level. I think anyone who cries racism better be damn sure it has something to do with race because isn't something that should be used lightly. I have to 100% disagree with Toth on this one. Plus I think there's a lot of things that have gone on off the ice with Emery that we don't know about. Ottawa just doesn't want to deal with him anymore.

    Titletown USA

I wonder how far back in History they're going to go to make their choice. If it's only back 5-10 years, then Boston will win it. If they go back further, then it's New York. Since the 1966 Season (First year of the SuperBowl) here's the number of championships New York has won: Yankees -1977, 1978, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 Mets -1969, 1986 Giants -1986, 1990, 2007 Jets -1969 Rangers -1994 Islanders -1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 Knicks -1970, 1973 Compare that to Boston: Red Sox -2004, 2007 Patriots -2001, 2003, 2004 Bruins -1970, 1972 Celtics -1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008 Not counting College Championships, Boston's success has been recent, where New York's is consistant. Personally I hope they go back more than the 2000's and see a bigger picture, but I won't lose any sleep over their choice. They really can't go wrong either way picking New York or Boston. Just for fun, here's how we compare: Tigers -1968, 1984 Red Wings -1997, 1998, 2002, 2008 Pistons -1989, 1990, 2004

    The Redwings 07-08 DVD

I'm glad they didn't talk about it. If we would have lost a series because of it, then it should be talked about. We won the cup despite of it, so it doesn't need to be mentioned.

What kind of a question is that? You're a Red Wings fan aren't you?

    The Redwings 07-08 DVD

I got my copy on Saturday, and watched it twice. I don't know if it's because I just got it a few days ago, but I think this could be my favorite of the four Championship DVD's. I really enjoyed the section they had about McCarty, and they seem to have more off ice stuff than the other 3 i.e. in the locker room, footage of Rafalski going back to the rink where he started playing hockey, seeing the guys on the plane after winning the cup, etc. The Bonus features were outstanding. A lot of times I find bonus material is either hit or miss. The piece on Lebda, the Legends dinner, and Kronwall's biggest hits were every entertaining. The mic'ed up practice before one of the games in Pittsburgh was hilarious!! I was laughing the entire time. Maltby's da man!!
