I couldn't agree more. Look at a team like Toronto.... We all know they haven't won a Cup since 1967, but I think the more surprising is that they've NEVER even won a Regular Season Division Title!! When you go to the Joe, the rafers are jammed with Stanley Cup, Presidents Trophy, Western Conference (Season and Playoffs), and Division Titles. To think Toronto hasn't won a Regular Season Division Title is insane!!

Yup I agree.... It makes me laugh when I hear Leaf fans say, "All we need to do is get into the playoffs and anything can happen" and they start naming off Anaheim 2003, Calgary 2004, and Edmonton 2006. Yes anything can happen, but those are all teams from the Western Conference. Anything can happen in the West, not the East.

Last year I picked Anaheim, and I was right. Call me crazy, but this year I'm picking the Wings. I don't know what it's like in the USA, but I like the fact the Canadian Media is talking about Anaheim, Dallas, and San Jose winning the West. I even heard someone on Rogers Sports Net say Vancouver can beat the Wings . We went to the Conference Finals last year and were only a few breaks away from playing Ottawa in the finals, and it's going unnoticed. But that's ok with me.

Even if Washington makes the playoffs, I think Malkin should get it. The Pens may win the Regular Season Eastern Conference Title, and Washington will finish 8th or 9th. I've been complaining for years that the NHL favors the 5-8 seeds over 1-4, which is one of the reasons why ratings are low in the playoffs, so I'd rather see someone who helped his team win his division take home the MVP.

Wings GM says Chris Chelios likely to be back next year
Barrie replied to zombiewing's topic in General
Good. As long as Cheli contributes, I want him around. -
Last weekend I was in Windsor. We took the tunnel bus to the Joe for the March 15th game. While we were walking to the bus station on the Windsor side, we had our Wings gear on, a few people yelled, "Hey take those jersey's off". All I said back was, "Poor Leaf fans".

Sept 07, I flew out to Vancouver for my cousin's wedding. There and back we had a stop over in Calgary for a few hours, and I made sure both flights I had a Red Wings t-shirt on.

I wear Detroit/Michigan stuff all the time in the Toronto area. I have a Wings spring/fall pull-over jacket, plus a number of Detroit area shirts (Tigers, Michigan State, Red Wings, Pistons). When the Leafs were decent, people said stuff, but not really anymore. Usually they just look and keep going on with what they're doing. A few weeks ago I was at a Toronto Raptors game (I got the tickets for free, I was there with a group), they were playing Washington, and I had a Tigers t-shirt on. I was grabbing a coffee in the concorse, and the woman who sold the coffee to me looked at my t-shirt and said, "You need a Raptors t-shirt." I said, "Nah, I'm a Pistons fan." She look at me weird and said, "Why are you here." I replied "I got the ticket for free."

Yea my Uncle is friends with a guy who lives in Birmingham, he runs into players all the time. Hull lived behind him, one house over.

That's what I'd go with too, but Ozzie would be named #1 goalie. Call me crazy, but I really think we have a great mix of speed and size. And I think we can play any kind of game our opponent tries to play against us. If they want to play a speed game, we can give them speed; if they want to hit us hard, we can hit hard back.

Let Maltby retire as a Wing, they guy's earned it, and he's not really taking ice time away from a young player. No one else is ready yet.
-
Yea, all Bure had on Fedorov was flash. Fedorov in his prime could do it all.
-
I would put Bure 4th on that list behind Lidstrom, Sundin, and Fedorov.
-
Yea but there still is 4 teams in front of them, with 10 left to play, and all those teams have a game in hand.
-
Same here. I can't wait to see DMac wearing #25 again, I'll shed a tear. I was in attendance when Yzerman passed Lemiuex all-time in goals, and got a bit teary when we gave him a standing O. It was the best live sports moment I've ever been a part of.

I'm there Saturday! Thursday is fine with me, just as long as I see him Saturday.

No way on the Leafs, I've already voiced my opinion, but the Leaf suck, and will for about 5 years. Two BIG for Toronto. The Wings against the Rangers at Yankee Stadium would be massive. They're the two most popular American teams and it's Yankee Staduim. At the moment, you probably couldn't ask for a better match up and location for an outdoor game.
-
Still, Philly got a point in the game. Toronto is going to have to go 11-0 the rest of the way.
-
I didn't think Cleary would sign elsewhere. I think he's a product of his team and organization. Anyway, I'm happy we'll have him around for 5 years.
-
Ummm, it's Yankee Stadium, YANKEE STADUIM. That should answer your question.
-
I'm sick of Toronto , Wings vs. Rangers at Yankee Staduim sound kick @ss to me! Edit: Besides, The Leafs would want it in Toronto no questioned asked, and there's really no place to play an outdoor game there. It wouldn't get any bigger or better than the Wings and Rangers in the House that Ruth Built.

I'm not really expecting McCarty to fight all that much. I think he'll mostly just throw is weight around, and create a little chaos infront of the opposing net.
-
Fully agree on both points. If Drake was putting up better numbers, signing McCarty probably wouldn't be an option. Fully agree as well on the McCarty and making money comment. Everyone needs to make money, that's why we all get jobs. McCarty needs money just like the rest of us. What does the guy do best? Plays hockey. I hope people who seem to be against this McCarty signing can just sit back and enjoy this feel good story. Also, if DMac had nothing left, we wouldn't bring him back.
