    Number 37

In a Salary Cap world, Sammy is one of those guys you need to help stay under the Cap. Lilja is another one of those Salary Cap type players.

Avery breaks off contract talks with Rangers

I got in this late, but I have no interest in bringing back Avery. There was a reason why we traded him in the first place. Downey has fit in excellent this season, he's brought in a lot of the type of game that Avery is known for, despite a scoring touch, but most importantly, he keeps his mouth shut.

    NHL Standings

I don't have a problem with the Divison winners getting the top 3 seeds in the Conference. A team should get some reward for winning their Division. Sports, like many things in life, works in cycles. Who know's in 5 years time, the Southeast Division could be one of the strongest in the League, and one of the current strong ones will be the weakest. I'll also point out in the mid to late 80's we were winning the Norris Division with a .500 record.

    Give me a break

In January The Toronto Star had some dude do calculations and said the Leafs had a 3% chance of making the playoffs. I'd imagine it's down to 1 or 2 % now. I can't believe how much of a free ride the Leafs get in Toronto. You'd think after all these years, no one would talk about them or go to games anymore. But the majority of time they're being talked about on the sports stations, and the arena is packed. This whole Sundin thing drives me crazy too. There's so many people who say, "Oh well, it's not Sundin's fault, JFJ gave him the no trade", "Oh well it's his choice", "It's not up to Sundin to fix the organization". I'm in the huge minority who thinks Sundin should have been forced by the team to waive his no-trade, and that fans and media should have been giving him a lot of pressure to leave. But you have media people coming on tv/radio telling people not to give Mats a hard time. I don't get it, the team will be much better off if Sundin was traded. Now Sundin is saying he's not sure if he's going to play next year. It's insane, and no one seems to care. Look at the guys we booed out of town, I guess that's why we've seen 7 Major Championships since 1984, and Toronto has 2.

    This year vs Last year

I agree, I think we're a better team than last year. I'm looking forward to the playoffs.

    Maltby Is The Man

I've always been a big fan of Malts. I'm happy he's going to be able to retire a Red Wing.

    Coaching

The losing streak is due to injuries and a number of questionable calls against us at very important times in games. Unlike Ottawa, who's losing skid was with their best players in the lineup, there are things we can look forward to to get us back on the winning track, i.e. the return of Lidstrom, Rafalski, Chelios, Cleary and McCarty. I for one don't care if Dallas or anyone else in another Division passes us in the standings. Just as long as we win the Central Division.

McCarty WILL join Wings a week from Monday

Ah come on man, have a heart. Mac was and still is a crowd favorite. It's great to see him making a comeback and turning his life around, hockey is secondary. Wings fans want to show him support. We're paying him the League Minimum, and he'll probably be rotated in and out of the line up with Drake and Downey. It's a no risk signing.

McCarty WILL join Wings a week from Monday

Sweet!! I'll be at The Joe March 15th vs. Nashville. I can't wait to see him back in his #25 Red and White jersey.
  14. Yea I'm starting to feel the same way about the game. I just don't enjoy as much as I did before the lockout. Each year I've been losing interest in it more and more, which is probably one of the reasons why the losing streak isn't effecting me this year as ones in other years. It just seems the NHL does things that turns the fans off. The game now is just blahhh. Edit: Due to the Salary cap, teams have no character anymore, they're all the same. And you have those wussy hooking penalty calls all the time.

    Should Bettman resign?

Bettman is a puppet for the owners. They love him, so we're stuck with him.
  16. Funny you should mention this, the last couple days I've been thinking, "I'm getting sick of Hockey, I can't wait until the Tigers get going". I never say stuff like that, usually it's, "I follow Baseball once the Red Wings Season is over." It's kind of sad. This losing streak isn't effecting me at all. Usually during Wings losing streaks, I'm sick to my stomic. This one, nothing.
  17. I don't know if this is good or bad, but this losing skid can be somwhat blamed on a bunch of questionable calls not going our way.

    2/29 GDT: Sharks 2, Red Wings 2

I had tickets to tonight's game, but Southern Ontario had another snow storm come through. They were expecting 4-6 inches around Toronto, and we have a 3 1/2 Hour drive so I sold them. Oh well, I got tickets for March 15th, so it's not a big deal. Anyway, Wings will win 3-2 tonight.

    Another early exit is near

We almost made it last year. This year we have more playoff experience.

    Stuart Won't be physical

Man, the title of this discussion makes me laugh. Brad hasn't even played a game yet and someone thinks he knows what style he'll be playing. Look at how our team has been playing the last few years, we're slowly becoming a more physical team. There's a reason why we got Sturat and McCarty, to make ourselves more annyoing to play against.

    Feedback Requested: Site Performance

Hey Matt, just my 2 cents. I found the site was slow on deadline day, but I understood why. Unless it's the playoffs, I'm sure trade deadline day has the most traffic, hense the slow down. I was able to read and post what I wanted to, so it was fine. What I didn't like was all the freaking out and the when people didn't get the players they wanted, but you have no control over how we all react to stuff anyway, haha. So all in all, I was fine with how the site was working.

What happened, Holland? Cap space for what?

I can understand why people get upset about stuff, but what I don't understand is how easy people think it is to make a move. There's 29 other teams trying to win the same Cup as we are. We won't make every move we want to, we will be out bid sometimes. Also, it's very, very, very tough to trade within our own division. Nashville, Chicago, Columbus, and St. Louis don't want to help us out. Add to all that, there's a Salary Cap we need to work with. This isn't 1999, where we can spend whatever we want. That's all I have to say. I understand why people can get upset, I don't understand why people think it's so easy to address all our holes.

    Man, that's a solid group!

All "Let's Lynch Holland" threads merged

Maybe if people are looking for someone to ***** and moan about, you should take it out on Sundin. I'm sure if he waived his no-trade, he would be on his way to Detroit at this moment to meet his new team when they return from a Western Canadian road trip. Here I can help get you started, "Screw Sundin!", "What a Tool!"
