Seeing he's one of my all-time favorite players, I want to make sure it happens before I get to excited I'm sure if he was back, it would help sell more tickets.

Is there a source to confirm DMac possibly going to Grand Rapids, or is it all just a buzz for now?

Out of Holland, Nill, and Yzerman, the only one I see leaving the organization is Nill. Holland is going no where, Illitch will make sure of that, and Yzerman is a God here. I'll bet money that in a few years, Nill will take a GM job somewhere else, and Yzerman will be Assistant GM to Holland. Think about it, Nill, once Yzerman is ready, is the odd man out. Concerning the Leafs, they'll probably get one of the best guys available who currently isn't under contract with another team. Anyone in a good position with their team i.e. Burke, Holland, etc. wouldn't even consider leaving their current teams.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=228047&hubname= Not that it's going to do anything, but I've been sending e-mails to some people in the Toronto media, who are realistic, to please give the Toronto media and fans a reality check. I understand what and why this is going on, but it's getting way out of hand. I bet none of those guys mentioned are even considering coming to Toronto, and would probably say "Ewww no", if ever asked. Being the Leafs GM has to be one of the worst jobs in all of sports.
-
I'm convinced people in Toronto don't get out much. They have no clue as to what goes on outside their own city.
-
Let it out man, it's exactly how I feel. I don't know how much more of this I can take. It's all over the news.

Holland's going no where. Fans and media in Toronto have no sense of reality. They think that there's going to be people lined up wanting the GM job, since Toronto is an original 6 team, but it's sooo far from the truth. Also, Toronto media said the Leafs GM job is the crown jewel of GM jobs. Again, that's sooo far from being true. I would think under the current conditions, Toronto would be very low on someone's wish list. I've heard reports that no one high up in Hockey wants the Toronto GM job, because the organization is in such a mess and the ownership is horrible. Add to that, the pressure from fans and media is literally insane! People in Toronto either, like I said, have no sense of reality, or they just don't listen. I've mentioned this before, but Jimmy D was asked if someone from the Wings Organization would be hired by the Leafs and Develano said, "The Leafs are dreaming in technicolor".

Yea, 60 seconds.

Good move by Phoenix for letting Bryzgalov play some games first before signing him long term, unlike the Leafs who sign goalies long term before they even play a game in Toronto

I'm off work today cause of the snow so I was able to watch the news conference and some analysis after. Holland was the first GM named as a possible replacement by a local sports station :puke: I really wish this would stop! But it'll probably get worse as things go along. Why would Holland leave the Wings to go to the Leafs? The Leafs are a mess. They have no current super stars and they have no young players on the team or in the minors they can build around. This is a 10+ year process, and in that time the Wings could win 2 Stanley Cups. Jimmy D even said that if the Leafs think they'll get anyone from the Wings Organization to run their team, they are dreaming in technicolor. Also, a few other things that made me laugh and go during the Leafs press conference: -When asked if the Leafs are going to blow things up and start from scratch, Richard Petty said they want to rebuild and still want to try and win now. -When asked if the Board will let Fletcher have free reign of the team, Petty said the Ownership has never got in the way of the GM. -Fletcher and Petty both said that the Leafs GM job is the jewel of GM jobs in the NHL. This team has no clue. They have no sense of reality. I've had a chance to listen to some fan reaction on the FAN590 as well, and the majority of them are saying, "Same old sh!t" and "we've heard this before". I agree, I don't think things will change in Toronto. All this will do is get the fans and media off the Organization's back for a little while.
-
That's what I've heard. Most high/A level hockey guys don't want the job of being Leafs GM.
-
JFJ is a good Hockey guy, it's just his hands were tied. Ownership pretty much told him what to do.
-
Firing Ferguson is fine, but the main thing is Leafs Ownership letting the new GM have full control of what happens to the team.
-
I agree, we already have a few hossa type players. What we need to do is add size.
-
Oh good. I read the title and thought Jason Blake and "Please God NO! We don't want to be stuck with that contract." I'm ok with Rob Blake. It probably shouldn't cost to much to bring him here.
-
It's Ozzie. He has ups and downs, that's why we love him. Ah no worries, we were due to lose a few games anyway.

I think there's to much ego in Leafs Management. The Ownership/Board wants to have the credit for turning around the Leafs, not someone else, which is why someone like Bowman won't work in Toronto. Anyone who works for the Leafs has to report and give suggestions to the Board, and they make the final decision on what's going to happen. Leafs Ownership is in it for the money, not because they want to see the Leafs win, so anyone they hire is a puppet. Bowman isn't a puppet. Instead the situation needs to be the exact opposite, Ownership is there to hire the right people, and let them run the team. We all know Illitch is that kind of owner. With all that said, Bowman still won't get the job. The Leafs will probably hire a mid-level GM, to get the fans an media off their back for a few more years. It'll be someone with a decent name, but will be willing to report to the Board. The Leafs problem is ownership, not the GM or VP. The only way the Leafs will change is if someone buys the Leafs from MLSE, which probably won't happen because the Leafs make to much money.
-
Right. Mac was a fan favorite, so we're just curious to see if he can make it back. I for one am rooting for the guy to turn things around in his life. If he can help the Wings, cool, if not, it's fine. There's nothing wrong with checking to see if he's got anything left. It's called keeping your options open.
-
Right, the only guy the Leafs can trade is Sundin because he's in his last year of a contract, and he's Sundin. No team is going to want to trade for Tucker, McCabe, Kubina, Raycroft, etc.. JFJ signed these guys for to long and for to much. The Leafs will have to wait until their contracts expire, or pray to God they'll play better and some team will trade for them in their last year. This is a huge mess, which will probably take 10+ years to fix. Just think it took the Wings 14 years to win the Stanley Cup after they drafted Yzerman, and it took the Sens the same amount of time to make it to their first Stanley Cup Finals after they started in the NHL. Since the Leafs have no help on the farm, and will have to start from scratch, assuming they make enough right moves, it'll take them that long for them to become a Stanley Cup Favorite.

I don't watch the skills competition or the game, so it doesn't bother me what they do there. I'm the same for the other 3 sports, I usually pass on All-Star games/festivities.
-
I'd have no problems seeing Foote traded to Detroit. If we can trade for Chelios and have him become a fan favorite, we can trade for almost anyone. I think the only guys I would never want to see Red Wings were Roy and C.Lemieux. Other that those two, I'd welcome anyone past or present.
-
13 years is to long. If I was a NHL player, I wouldn't sign for anymore than 5 years.
-
Well I know it's a long shot, but it would be great to see DMac back in Hockeytown wearing #25 again . I hope it works out, but understand if it doesn't. On another note, I wouldn't be surprised if we traded for Lapointe at the deadline to add some size, seeing he's an UFA after this year.

This is being talked about to death on Toronto radio. This is what I was hearing all day today Sundin doesn't want to leave Toronto. He's very happy being a Maple Leaf, and would rather stay a Leaf then try to win a Stanley Cup. If asked, he'll probably say no to a trade. Besides I don't think ownership will trade him anyway. It doesn't matter how far back the Leafs are, they'll still try to sneak into the playoffs. Also, this Sundin trade talk is very premature, the entire thing has been created by media and fans ONLY. Owership hasn't even been officially asked by the media about trading Matts. I have not heard a report about what the Leafs Ownership has said. Add to that, JFJ is trying to save his job, he won't trade Sundin, and I don't think owership would trust JFJ to make that deal anyway. Think about it, a GM like Holland could take advantage of the situation and rob the Leafs blind.

Sammy's decent, but I doubt he really has any trade value. I think we're stuck with him until his contract runs out after next year. So those of you who don't like him, should prepare yourselves.
