I'm sorry to say I really haven't been following along. Similar to SouthernWingsFan, I don't pay to much attention to it for any sport. I figure all preseason is for is to get in shape and see who fills in the last few roster spots. I'm sure most of us know who's going to be on the opening night roster already.

By far Claude tops my list. There are some guys I don't like, but still respect their skills (Roy, Forsberg, Tucker, etc.). Claude Lemieux, I don't like him, and I have no respect for him at all.

If anyone has copies of Game 4 of the 1997 and 1998 Stanley Cup Finals (CBC), you gotta love the smirk on Murphy's face both years when being interview after winning back-to-back Championships. He was giving Leafs fans the old "screw you".

Last week I saw Kenny on TV and he said the biggest complaint Detroit fans have is the schedule. I'm wondering if the problems the Wings are having selling season tickets has something to do with the League changing the schedule. Last year the majority of the owners liked the current schedule, now they think it's time for a change. I bet the League took notice as to what's happening in Detroit. Good job as always Detroit fans . Along with cities like Boston, Philly, New York, etc., we're "movers and shakers".

Unless I missed something, it doesn't look like McCarty is getting a chance anywhere. I understand why not, but I still find it sad to see one of my all-time favorites have to hang 'em up.

I feel like I've gone back into time and it's the early 1980's with those jerseys. I guess since the scoring isn't at 1980's level (which is what they want), they'll dress them like it's the 80's. Horrible, they look horrible :puke: I'm happy I'll never have to see Yzerman skate around in those things. I pray they switch back for 2008-09.

Our Babcock was on the FAN590 today (Friday). He didn't say much. Mostly that the guys will be starting to skate at the Joe on Monday, how tough it was to lose to Anaheim in the playoffs, and how much respect he has for Scotty Bowman, Mr. Illitch, and Kenny.

Yeah Oulahen had it last training camp too. It'll be weird seeing someone else wear #14 and #25, but that's progress and time going on.

I agree. I think these new form fitting jerseys all suck!! I still don't understand what's was wrong with the old ones. Is the city 250 years old?

I just got in from a long weekend in Vancouver to attend my cousin's wedding. Whenever I fly to Vancouver I start in Hamilton, switch planes in Calgary, and end up in Vancouver. The way home is Vancouver-Calgary-Hamilton. Tonight on our Calgary to Hamilton flight was, no joke, Ray Emery. He just kind of mingled in with the rest of us, no fan fare or flash. He didn't have first class or anything like that. He was sitting in the last 1/3 of the plane. I think it was only myself and another guy who actually recognized him, that or no one else wanted to approach him. When we got off in Hamilton the other dude talked to him a bit; then I went up to Ray while he was pulling his Sens Hockey bag off the bagage claim. I said, "I thought that was you, the Senators bag confirms it". Ray just kind of looked at me, probably seeing if he actually knew who I was. I went on asking him, "When does training camp start?". He slowly smiled and said, "In a week". "Nice", I said, and added, "Congratulations on last season". He said, "Thank you", and I walked away. I was wearing a Red Wings t-shirt too at the time, so I represented us Wings fans with class. His Hockey bag was massive and he had about 5 goalie sticks wrapped up along with his regular luggage. He was wearing a baseball cap, hooded sweat shirt, and cream cargo shorts (like I said earlier, no fan fare or flash). Anyway, that's my Emery story. I've never been a fan of his, but enjoyed having a chance to say a few words to him. Good guy for making small talk with me. I'm sure those guys get it all the time and may be sick of it, so props to him to talking to two die hard hockey fans.

Well on the plane I wasn't exactly sure if it was him or not, so I kinda tried to find clues. Actually, on my way out there I bought the Hockey News 2007-08 Yearbook in the Calgary airport, so I was checking where Emery is from and how tall he is (again, looking for anything to confirm if it was Ray).

Gotta argee... They're brutal!

As of now I'm ok with my Yzerman, Shanahan, and McCarty jerseys. IF I ever get another one it would be Chelios.

Save the Cap room for the deadline. We can load up for the playoffs.

Yeah with the cap, some of these mid level guys in their early 30's have to take what they can get.

Yeah including Calder in our top 8 scorers last year is funny. Also, he was injured in the playoffs.

Who's going to go to Vegas to see a Hockey game? People go to Vegas to get out of the cold.

Yeah it's crazy ! it's like he thinks there's still this one market that will magically get him a huge US tv deal. Hockey is a regional sport with hard core fans, I don't understand why he continues to try and expand like this. I'll go on the record saying that Vegas will be a poor market, just like Phoenix.

With what's going on with Tocchet and the NBA ref(s), I don't understand why any one of the 4 Major American Sports would want a team in Vegas. There's to much temptation for the players/coaches/organizations/refs. Why do we need another team in a non-hockey market? If the NHL didn't work in Phoenix, why is it going to work in Vegas? Bettman and the owners continue to beat a dead horse. If the NHL wants to expand AGAIN, what's wrong with a team in Hamilton Ontario? They got deposits for 16,000 season tickets and 80 Corporate Suites.
