I'm not trying to start something, but I was just thinking..... With Holmstrom in front of the net on the PP, and Lidstrom and Schneider playing D, shots from the point makes some sense. I agree though we need to try other things as well.

I think since this was discussed on Sports Talk Radio on a round table show tells us all we need to know. It's a bunch of sports guys talking and getting carried away. Scotty's 74, he's going no where. Also Scotty's to smart to get involved with Toronto. It realistically will take 5+ plus years to turn the organization around. He'd be 80 before the team shows signs of life. Scotty through out his career has been better suited to take a team to the next level, not build from scratch. Stevie last year said he really knows nothing about being a GM, so why the hell would he go to Toronto and put up with those fans and the media? He'd be the first person to say "no thanks". I'm sure being a V.P. in Detroit is perfect for him. He can still be invloved in hockey but have plenty of time being with his family. Stevie isn't going anywhere for a while or ever.

"Yzerman" is still a good read even though Stevie was never interviewed. Don't miss out on that one.
-
Yeah I agree. If the tickets are sold, I don't see what the big deal is if the tickets get used or not. It's paid for, that's the main thing. People can't make all 41 Home games, life gets in the way. Besides, I'm sure sometimes it's not worth it to drive downtown for a Thursday night game vs. Columbus or Minnesota.
-
Yup, count me as one of those type of fans who still loves the Wings, but isn't rushing out to buy tickets with Yzerman, Shanny, DMac, etc. gone, and Maltby and Draper not in their prime anymore. Also, I think the game has got to soft, I'm sick of Gary Bettman, and Hockey isn't the only sport I follow.

If 38 years old, being moved to the Blue Line from Center, on one of the worst teams in the League, doesn't mean a player is washed up, I don't know what is. We already signed Drake, there's no way we're getting another 38 year old.
-
It's hard to imagine Datsyuk is signed until the 2013-14 season.
-
Ah, good point....
-
How many of us expected we'd get Bertuzzi and Calder at the deadline? It's Kenny Holland we're talking about, he pulls something out of the hat every year.
-
It doesn't make to much sense to me to sign someone else now. We're still the strongest team in the Central Division, so I think the best thing to do is save the remaining $4-$6 Million and use it at the deadline.

Oh well, it's their own fault for bringing in a Salary Cap.
-
Oh well, sucks to be Anahiem, but Edmonton has every right to do this and there's really not much The Ducks can do. I think these small market teams are finding out that the salary cap isn't what they thought it would be. Some of them are starting to lose a lot of money with the minimum, and others, like Anaheim, are hand cuffed by it. I thought it was funny Burke mentioned the BC Hall of Fame and wondered why Lowe couldn't wait until Monday. As if Edmonton should stop everything their doing so Burke can get his plaque in the BC Hall.

Mostly he was commenting on what the Colorado fans and media said about #18. I remember in the 2002 playoffs against St. Louis, I for some reason was listening to the Blues radio feed. Maltby was doing his thing, and the Blues color guy started venting about Kirk saying how he was sick of him and hated him. It actually was funny. There's nothing wrong with players like that. They are there to get under the other team's skin and draw penalties.
-
I can understand a bit of what he was saying about Stevie. Us fans loved him, but I can see how he wasn't a favorite with the media. He doesn't open up easy and has that cold stare. Remember the times in the 2002 playoffs when the Wings were fined by the League for not talking to the media after games? I bet Yzerman and Bowman told the team to stay quiet until the next day. I really didn't mind what was said about Yzerman, and Maltby too (complainer, diver, whiner, wears a shield and never drops the gloves, etc.). To many times with our heros we look past their faults and naturally expect everyone to look up to them as well. It's good to get a different perspective sometimes. Same, actually I found it a tad more biased to the Wings.
-
Actually I've always thought it was a better read for Wings fans. I don't think Avs fans would like it because it would probably bring back to many bad memories, considering the rivarly ended with our famous 7-0 win.

I'm reading through it for a 2nd time. Yes it's good. It's a good book, as a Wings fan you'd enjoy it.

Balsillie group accuses Bettman of forcing Preds to break off talks

Yup, if the owners didn't like him, Gary would be out on his ass. That's because most of the NHL owners are a bunch of Dinosaurs -

Hamilton is up to 16,000 and 80 Corporates Boxes. 16,000 is Nashville's $$$ break even point, and Hamilton has already reached that with, as you say, SPECULATION. -
I'm not even going to try and make a list, but realistically, Yzerman should be no higher than 10th.
-
I found it kind of ironic since the arena was brand spanking new.
-
That was funny to you?
-
My NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC, PBS, etc. come from Buffalo. Yes I remember when this happened. Funny it was only 2 months after it opened. It made people in Buffalo wonder if they really needed to get rid of their old arena.

Well except for living in Windsor for 3 years (1989-1992), I've been in Burlington my entire life.
-
Yeah for a 13th or 14th Forward, he's a good guy to have around.
-
Bring back DMac? For the League minimum, sure. Anything more than that, nah.
