If You Were Ken Holland This Off-Season?

If there's enough cap room and a little wiggle room for the deadline, I liked to see us sign Hasek, O'Neill, and Saprykin.

    What now?

I'm with you Mac. I like what's going on. Most of those UFA we're overpaid. I'd rather get a roll player, let the kids play, and make a move at the deadline. We're going to win the division again, I don't understand all the panic.

    Same thing different year.

Yeah I agree with the Discussion, I don't understand the panic. Look at St. Louis, Nashville/Hamilton/KC, Chicago, and Columbus, we pretty much have the Central Division won again. We're guaranteed atleast the 3rd seed in the Conference. We're fine.....

    Bertuzzi a Duck: 2-Years, $8M

Man, I'm glad we didn't sign Bertuzzi for $8 Million for the next two years. Good move by Kenny and company to let the Ducks take him.

    Bertuzzi a Duck: 2-Years, $8M

It would have been nice to bring back Bert, but it's ok. Now we have some cap room to sign a big forward without back problems. I'm sure Kenny, Scotty, Jimmy D, and Iron Mike saw Bertuzzi as to big of a risk. I bet it was tough trying to come to terms with him not knowing how many games he'll play. Florida had no idea his back was messed up when they traded Luongo for him. If Todd misses time again, it's Anaheim's problem, not ours. We're fine....

How much do we have left?

I figure as of now he's the 13th forward, I posted the current starting 12.

How much do we have left?

Actually if Hasek and Bert re-sign, our starting 20 is pretty much set. G: Hasek, Osgood F: Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Bertuzzi, Draper, Maltby, Cleary, Filppula, Hudler, Holmstrom, Samuelsson, Franzen, Kopecky D: Lidstrom, Rafalski, Chelios, Kronwall, Lilja, Lebda Edit: If Hasek and Bert don't sign, then we have two spots open.

Who is next to sign with Detroit?

Other than Hasek and Bertuzzi, I don't think the Wings really need to sign anyone else. Let the young guy continue to develop and get more ice time.

    Rafalski a Red Wing: 5-years, $30-million

Right, we're talking about Lidstrom and Rafalski, not McCabe and Kaberle. It's money well spent.

    Rafalski a Red Wing: 5-years, $30-million

Yeah, but it's Lidstrom and Rafalski we're talking about. Both can play 30 minutes a night. Most nights one will be on the ice at all times. How quickly we forget that Anaheim won the Cup with Niedermayer and Pronger.

    Rafalski a Red Wing: 5-years, $30-million

Wow, I never expected Rafalski!! With our young talent at the blueline, I thought we were going after a Forward. I like this deal. I too like it a lot better than re-signing Schneider. Nice move by Kenny, Jimmy D, Scotty, and Iron Mike. I would assume signing Smyth (or another big named forward) is out of the picture now. I bet after the Rafalski deal, we'll re-sign Hasek and Betruzzi. We look real solid for 2007-08

    2007-08 Salary Cap set: $50.3-million

Holmstrom is one of my favorites, but there's no way you can compare Holmstrom to Smyth. Ryan can play 20 minutes a night and can kill penalties, something Homer has never done. Also, Tomas would never have had 60-70 point seasons in Edmonton. Smyth would thrive here playing along side with Datsyuk and Zetterberg, score 40+ goals, and would be an instant crowd favorite. Man, I hope the rumors are true. Yes, it's bad enough for goalies to have Holmstrom in their face on PP's, if we get Smyth too

    2007-08 Salary Cap set: $50.3-million

A few Hockey experts on the FAN590 in Toronto were saying they're expecting Smyth to sign with the Wings . If that's the case, we don't need to bring back Bertuzzi. I'm ok with letting Schneider go. Maybe we can sign someone younger, a 2nd tier D, who won't command as big a salary.

    Preds Sale

What Corporations are in KC? Who's going to fill up the Luxury boxes? Man, Hamilton would sell out every game.

Pick up some overpriced lineup sheets

Maybe, but it's just to easy to mock you.... With 18 Zetterberg skaters, who cares?

    Bowman turns Leafs down

Honestly I doubt Bowman would have really been interested. I have to think he met with them out of respect only. This is the 2nd time that I know of the Leafs have called him. Scotty knows what kind of a mess the Leafs are in, and that management is to stupid to get out of it. Instead of actually listening to Scotty, the Leafs refused his demands. You'd think with his track record, the Leafs would say, "Whatever you want, we'll do it". This is another reason the Leafs will go another 40 years without a Cup.

    Bowman turns Leafs down

Right.... Someone needs to check Red Wings History. The Wings were one of the best teams in the league at the time Bowman took over, like you said. It should be noted too that the Wings made the Conference Finals in 1987 and 1988. Bowman was brought in to take us to the next level.
  18. Barrie

    If Schneider signs elsewhere...

Use the money to sign Ryan Smyth.

    Good one!

Your Top 5 Worst-Run NHL clubs

How about the worse run North American Sport? The NHL by a landside. MLB, NBA, and NFL all know how to make money, the NHL has no clue. Sorry, I'm a little pissed that it doesn't look like Balsillie can by the Preds. Screw Bettman, I'm sure that rat is behind it all!

    Predators not being sold?

I was just thinking, if this was the NBA, NFL, or MLB, they'd be all over moving a franchise to Hamilton. Instead as always, the NHL shoots itself in the foot. Why continue with these franchises that are losing money, struggle at the gate, and have no Corporate support? Man, why not go to a spot that will make you some money, so you don't have another team that sucks off the financial success of Detroit, Toronto, Philly, Colorado, NYR, etc.? I don't get it!? What's wrong with going to a market that would love to have a franchise and would sell out every seat and every Corporate Box?

Holland: Prices for Bertuzzi, Schneider & Markov high

If we don't bring back any of those guys I'm ok with it. Despite going to the Conference Finals last year, I would like to see the younger guys get the ice time, or grab a UFA or two. Edit: Hey I was just thinking, does this mean we're signing Calder? I hope so
  23. Barrie

    Predators not being sold?

I'm sure the NHL is behind it. How can Lepoild give up $240 Million for a team that loses him $15 Million a year?
  24. Barrie

    anyone interested in Raycroft?

I don't think to many teams are interested in Raycroft. The Leafs will get nothing for him. The best they can hope for is a 5th round pick and to get rid of his contract. Bob McCown from the FAN590 today said if Nashville is looking to lose games so they can turn fans off and move to Hamilton, he'd be a perfect guy. Toskala will be the starter. I mostly feel for the guy because he's going to face 35 shots a night.
  25. Barrie

Sharks deal Toskala/Bell to Maple Leafs

Never happen, who's going to want to take on the contract? Kubina, McCabe, and Kaberle all are over paid. The Laughs are stuck with them. Typical Leafs pipe dreams, uhhhh I mean rumors, it'll never happen. Why would the Islanders want to take on McCabe's contract and why would Smyth want to play in Toronto? Man, the Leafs need to rebuild. I can't stand them, but they still make me frustrated and sick.
