Nah, they have to rebuild. Look at all the picks they traded. They have a GM with no job security, so all he's doing is making moves that he thinks will help them now to get a contract extension.

Just something fun to pass along. Since I live in the middle of Toronto-Hamilton, my friends and I have been talking a lot about a team in Hamilton. The majority of them said they'd ditch the Leafs and switch to Hamilton . One of them last night asked me if I would switch too. I said, "No!". He did one of those, "Ah come on man, it's Hamilton!". I told him, "All my favorite teams are in Detroit, and I don't have any reason to switch. You guys have a reason too switch, but I don't". There's soooo many pissed off Leaf fans around here, that Hamilton will have a huge following right from the start. I know a few guys too, Leaf fans, who put a deposit down on tickets. Man, I hope we get another team, it'll be a lot of fun.

The Leafs hands down. With all the money they bring in, they should be winning the Eastern Conference every year. With the size of their market, there's no excuse why they are sooooo bad. I know Chicago and Boston are run bad too, but atleast they've made a Stanley Cup Final since expansion.

Just a 180 to the closed "go away ducks fans" Discussion. Stick around! Flames and Sharks fans should stay too! Fans of opposing teams that obey the rules add a lot to the site. It's good to talk hockey with other knowledgeable fans and also get different opinions on things. If it's just Wings fans here, we'd all turn into a bunch of Homers.

Yeah good point about the Blue Jays. A Hamilton NHL team may hurt the Jays more so than the Leafs or Sabres. Hockey rules here!! Edit: I was just thinking, it could also hurt the Raptors as well. I'm sure there's people who have Raptors Season Ticket because they can't get 'em to the Leafs.

Well there's no reason why Lang should be back. We need the Cap space, so re-signing Lang makes no sense at all.

More info from the FAN590 in Toronto today. I live 15 minutes from where the Hamilton team would play, so I'm right in the middle of it on the Hamilton side. The info has to do with Buffalo and how a Hamilton team would effect them. -Canadians account for 12% of Sabres tickets, pre lock out it was 15%. -No Canadian Companies have rights to Corporate Boxes at HSBC Arena, because it's not a tax write off for Canadian Based Businesses. -Sabres games haven't been on free TV in Canada for 15 years, so they won't lose any tv ratings. -The Sabres have passed the Bills as the most popular team in Western New York. Edit: I know things are looking better for Buffalo because they are winning, but it's like that in most American Cities (the majority of American fans are fans of more than one sport in their city), but Buffalo should be ok with a team in Hamilton. I would assume they would only lose half of the Canadians, the other half are probably actual die-hard Sabres fans (I know a few Sabres fans here). And, they won't lose any Corporate support (they key to financial success) unless they piss them off. There's enough pissed of Leafs fans willing to switch their support to a Hamilton team. Also, the Corporations pretty much own all the Leafs tickets to entertain clients with, so real hockey fans never get a chance to see a game in person. The Leafs have that Corporate feel to them, Hamilton would be a Blue Collar/Working Class team. Plus it's just to damn expensive not only go to see the Leafs play, but to just go downtown Toronto. It'll work in Hamilton.... Don Cherry was intereviewed a few days ago on the FAN590 and said a team in Hamilton is a "can't miss". No offence to anyone here, but I don't think the majority of you know how big hockey is in the Toronto area. Detroit has the Wings, Tigers, Pistons, and Lions. In Toronto-Hamilton it's the Leafs and Hockey!! Every other sport in Toronto-Hamilton is like what the NHL is in the South. I've said it before, but this area is badly in need of another NHL team.

I think Nashville deserves a team. There's other markets that should be moved, but right now Nashville is the only team that we know of that's for sale.
-
I don't how many are there now, I've been there an number of times, but the arena has said they will have 80 if the city gets a team. Edit: Off hand I would say now they have 40.

Just an update on the Hamilton Season Ticket Campain thing. I heard today on the FAN590 that it's up to 12,000 seats and 80 Corporate Boxes. That number for the boxes is very impressive!
-
Excellent read , thanks for posting that. Give it up man. Just face facts, the Ducks won, get over it. The 1972 Bruins and 1974 Flyers were bigger goons than the 2007 Ducks. Edit: Check out what the 1962 Leafs (An Original 6 team) did to the Cup.

eva, have you been to Hamilton? Hamilton and Toronto combine for 7 Million people. There's no seperation between the two cities, the suburbs of both areas connect them together. There's a large number of people who are moving out of Toronto to the West 'burbs (Burlington, Oakville, and Mississauga), which is on Hamilton's side of Toronto. Plus there's about another Million people within an hours drive West of Hamilton. The amount of money, people interested in the NHL, and them number of people Hamilton can draw from is massive. Edit: It's a "Cash Cow" waiting to happen.

Yup. I'm sure that thing's been repaired a thousand times.

If Balsillie doesn't get Nashville, he'll go after another team.

This story gets better by the day.

Just and update on the downpayment for Hamilton NHL tickets, I'm listening to the FAN590 in Toronto and they're talking about it. It's over 10,000 seats now, and the Corporate Boxes have been sold out since yesterday. Edit: The Corporate Boxes, they had to cut it off at 65, and there was more companies willing to put $5,000 down. The Host, Bob McCown, says 10,000 is bad, while the other three in the Round Table says that's great considering the team hasn't even been purchased yet, and Hamilton has been given the shaft before with the possibility of the NHL coming to town. I agree with the other three, 10,000 seats and 65 Corporate Boxes is excellent for the situation.
-
Yeah I'm hearing Balsillie's bid will probably be rejected. He'll go after another team then. "Hello Florida/Phoeinx, I have $220 Million." You really can't blame Nashville and Phoenix, the blame is on Bettman and the League for going into those markets.
-
7,300 in just 24 hours (the tickets went on sale at 10:00am on Thursday), so the number is higher since it's 4:30pm Friday, and the corporate boxes were all gone. Excellent since the team is in Nashville.
-
Fair enough. I'd rather the Pred's not move, but if there's that much interest, Hamilton should get a team. If Nashville doesn't, Miami or Phoenix should move here. If the NHL had any business sense they would jump at the chance to move to Hamilton and have an owner like Balsillie on board. Instead they like teams that struggle at the gate and lose money, I don't get it .

Bob McCown is da man!!

I don't know if this was mentioned already, but Ticketmaster yesterday started selling Season Tickets to a possible Hamilton team. Last I heard they had sold 7,300 seats and the Luxury Boxes were all gone, and the NHL hasn't even started discussing the sale of the Preds. If I remember the FAN590 updates correctly, they made $6.3 Million. I've said this before, but this area is badly in need of another team. Having only one team in the Toronto-Hamilton area is a crime! Buffalo will be fine. Edit: Just some extra info I found on the tickets. Ticketmaster was taking deposits for Season Tickets, $1,000 for the lower bowl, $500 for the upper bowl, and $5,000 for the corporate boxes. Yeah, so yesterday they got deposits on 7,300 seats, the boxes were gone, and made $6.3 Million. If the Pred's don't moves, a full refund will be given. That's outstanding!!! I hope the NHL takes notice......

At 2:00am that's true. During rush hour, it's a good 2 hours. Yo OsGOD, you gotta quit with the pirate talk, haha. It's tough to read. I'll get through a few lines, then just skip to the next post.

The Leafs tried to get Bowman in the early 90's. He wasn't interested then, why would he be interested now? Bowman is to smart to work for MLSE. Imagine him having to report to the board ? MLSE calls the shots over there. Anyone who works in that organization is just a puppet, Bowman isn't a puppet. Plus he's 73, why would he want to start over now?
