Southern Ontario should have another team. If California has 3 NHL teams, Ontario should too. I'm starting to like the Kitchener-Waterloo idea, just as long as the arena can be right along Highway 401. Mississauga to London, Niagara Falls to Kitchener-Waterloo has 2+ million people. Mike Hogan on the FAN590 today said "the TV numbers would be outstanding". The only thing I don't like about it is the trouble it may be for people to get to weeknight 7:00pm games, since most of their fans will be a 30-45 minute drive away. The traffic in Southern Ontario is horrible. However, even if the arena isn't sold out, the tv revenues would cover it.

With all our young talent, maybe he felt he needed to get out of the way.
-
I have to say Datsyuk. He proved to me the past couple months that he can be one of the go to guys when the games really count. If he didn't produce this year in the playoffs, despite his long term contract, I would have wanted him out of town.
-
I'll take the 31 year old Shanahan back, not the 38 year old.
-
I like Lang, but it's time for him to go. We can get younger and still continue to win. Nothing against these guys, but I hope Lang, Hasek, and Schneider are either retired, or in different jerseys next year. Bert can go too. We'll free up a decent amount of money and will be able to sign a UFA or two.

Yup it's sad. Hopefully the Cap continues to climb, so the good teams can spend again.

Who is your favorite all time player, AND your favorite active player?
Barrie replied to a topic in General
All-Time 1. Yzerman 2. McCarty 3. Shanahan 4. Lapointe Current 1. Holmstrom 2. Maltby 3. Draper 4. Chelios (I still like the old guys ) -
After your team is eliminated...who do you root for?
Barrie replied to Yzermaynard's topic in General
Yup same with me, it's on to the Pistons and Tigers now. -
I want to see Ozzie and Howard splitting time starting in 2007-08. Hasek had a hell of a season, but I hope we pass on bringing him back, he's 43 next year. Unless their under contract or named Chris Chelios, let's go with the young guys. I hope we pass on bringing back Schneider and Lang too.

I too think Detroit helped prepare the Ducks for the Finals. The Wings are a tougher team to beat than the Sens no question. Plus Ottawa really wasn't tested in the previous 3 rounds. Buffalo was to small and couldn't forecheck. Just wait until the Sens have to face Anaheim's size and speed. Good luck in the Finals, I think you'll win in 5. I usually cheer for the Western Conference, just like how I cheer for the American League in MLB, NFC in the NFL, and Eastern Conference in the NBA. This year is no different.

By only the 3rd round, you have to think it's our Championship to lose. Go Pistons!!
-
If Buffalo was playing Anaheim, I'd still watch, but usually I'm a Detroit Homer. I can't watch an entire game unless it's the Wings, Tigers, or Pistons. The Lions are another story, I'm a fan, but I can't watch them for obvious reasons. My friends usually question me why I don't watch unless it's Detroit. I guess since I'm a fan of all 4 sports I switch to the next sport when one of our teams wins a Championship or get's eliminated.

Datsyuk's lack of scoring in 2003, 2004, and 2006 was the main reason we went out early. 2007, Datsyuk scored goals and we made it to the Final 4. It's was great to see him finally produce in the playoffs.
-
I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish this year. We beat Calgary and made it to the WCF. Also, Datsyuk produced in the playoffs and all of our young players got some excellent post season experience. There's soooo many positives and things to build on from the 2006-07 season. I really don't have anything negative to say.
-
This had nothing to do with "Fatigue or Lack of Heart", Anaheim was due. It was their 3rd trip to the WCF in the past 4 years, while we've just become a good playoff team again.
-
Giguere is the reason why the series is 3-2 Ducks, and also the reason why I don't think we're going to win tonight. I hope I'm wrong though and I'm willing to eat a lot of crow 11:45pm EST tonight if we win.
-
I hope to God I'm wrong, but I say it's going to be 3-2 Ducks. I think the Ducks are ready to take the next step and win the Stanley Cup. We're still a few more late and broken hearted eliminations away, just like 1995 and 1996. Edit: I think we gave up an good opportunity to win theis series in 5. I don't think with Giggy in net, we'll get it again. Hopefully he'll pull and Roy and do something stupid.
-
By no means I'm knocking anyone here, but I like to consider myself a realist. If I think the opposition is going to win I'll say so. This is Anaheim's 3rd trip in 4 years to the WCF. I think they are poised and ready to win tomorrow and return to the Finals. Giggy has been playing awesome and has stolen the series. Plus they are lead by Scott Neidermayer. We are in the beginning of becoming a good playoff team again. Guys like Zetterberg, Franzen, Filppula, Quincy, etc., just like everyone else who's won a championship, will have to be close a few times and feel the pain of losing before they finally finish the job. There has been many positives in this year's playoffs that we can build on for the next few years. With that said, I think Anaheim is going to win tomorrow, and going to go on and win the Stanley Cup, just like I predicted when the playoffs started. We're going to be close a couple times before we win again, but I hope I'm wrong though.
-
Whatever happens, I'm so damn proud of this playoff run we've put together. If we don't get by Anahiem, I really don't have anything negative to say about the team. There's been so many positives that has come out in the past 4-6 weeks. There's a lot of things we can build on for next year IF the season is coming to an end soon. Just think of all the playoff experience our young guys are getting, the grit and guts we are playing with, and the production by Datsyuk......
-
Yeah I really felt bad for him, he's been playing soooo well this playoff. Not getting a 2nd goal when we were up 1-0 was the reason we lost, not Lilja's turnover. Plus he scored our only goal. I hope people don't forget that.
-
Yeah these late penalty calls are stupid. I still like Hockey pre-lockout much better than post. Some of the calls and the timing of them are really bizzare. Just let them play.
-
What exactly was the problem? It just wasn't supported by the city, or were the players staying out all night getting into trouble?
-
Good plan. I've never been a fan of East/West, I've always favored the way MLB and NFL are set up. I'd be in favor of splitting the Original 6 between Conferences. i.e. Detroit, Toronto, and NYR in one; Montreal, Chicago, and Boston in the other.
-
Yeah that's a good one. . People talk about all the travel in the playoffs this year. I'm sure it's easier with their own private plane.
-
Hey, who takes the pics? And how did they get on the Wings plane (pic 33)? There's Maltby and Osgood on the right. Edit: Very cool
