Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams

According to this it could just be between us, Buffalo, and Toronto. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/16/report-just-sabres-leafs-formally-file-paperwork-to-speak-to-babcock/ -
Toronto needs another NHL team, and bad. Leafs fans should be demanding it.

Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams
Barrie replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I still can't believe Babcock said we've been winning to much. He's been part of the winning! Then he's wondering who's going to replace Datsyuk. Why was he coaching to win then? And then he says it was a struggle to make the playoffs. I don't think we would have got much better prospects then Mantha and Larkin if we missed the playoffs. I'm at the point we're I'd be disappointed if Babcock came back. I want Blashill coaching this team next year. -

I was thinking the same thing, maybe we can get a draft pick for him. -
Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"
Barrie replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Recent public comments by Jimmy D and Babcock about our future have been "very disappointing" to me. It's fine if they think Mantha was "very disappointing" and they aren't sure who's going to replace Pavs, but don't say it to the media. -
Yea I don't understand what fans expect. If people want to cheer for a team that signs UFA's, then they should switch teams. Is there Red Wings fans out there that still don't understand how the organization builds a team? I think it's obvious.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/with-or-without-babcock-red-wings-are-heading-in-the-right-direction/ I think it's funny some members of the media are saying maybe we should have missed the playoffs the last few years so we could reload. Without a pick in the 1st half of the 1st round the last 24 years, we still have the 9th best crop of prospects over all, and 6 individuals in the top 75. Replacing Datsyuk is like replacing Lidstrom, you can't. I hope Holland talked to Babcock about his post playoff comments today. The Wings system of finding talent in the later rounds and letting them over develop has been in place since the early 2000's. Personally I think the Wings group of prospects is the best since the late-80's early-90's. When we were winning cups, we only had guys like Butsayev, Laplante, Golubovsky, Wallin, and Kuznetsov in the system.

I'm not expecting too many changes, which I'm ok with. We have a number of guys who are RFA's we need to re-sign, and that will take us to the cap. I think people expecting big changes, other then a new coach, and some UFA signing in the off season will be disappointed.

After what Babcock said last night, about not being as good anymore (despite making a 7 point improvement over last year, and taking the highest scoring team in the league to 7 games), mentioning the ages of Dats, Z, and Kronwall, and asking who's going to replace Pavs, I'd like to see him go. We have a lot of great young players on the team now and coming up soon, if Babcock doesn't think he can win here, then bring someone in who knows he will. If Babcock wants to start nit picking, I'd like to point out he was here 10 years, and for 7 of those years he had the best defenseman since Bobby Orr, and only won 1 Cup... Dats, Z, and Kronwall have a few more good years left, and with Tatar, Nyquist, Abby, Helm, DeKeyser, Smith, Mrazek, Mantha, Larkin, Jurco, Marchenko, Ouellet, Sheahan, Pulkkinen, Glendening, etc. all in their 20's, we're going to be good for a while.

gdt ECQF Game 6 GDT : Lightning 5 at Red Wings 2 - Series Tied 3-3
Barrie replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I wonder when CBC became the Tampa Bay Lightning Network? They wouldn't shut up about Stamkos and the Lightning. If we play the Habs next round, I'll watch the games online. CBC's hockey coverage has been a joke for years. My fellow Canadians must have an inferiority complex when it comes to America and the successful European players, because Canadian media never shuts up about talking about everything Canadian -
Zetterberg took 2 penalties last night.

Gotta get more then 2 goals against the highest scoring team in the league. -

Great game! It was great having Abdelkader and Smith back, they bring a lot of grit and energy. -
I'm not sure how anyone can watch a game at the Joe and think it's not a tough place to play. Detroit has some of the best fans in sports.
-
If Arizona or Toronto won the lottery I would have called "fix". Clearly Edmonton winning means it wasn't fixed. I'm sure the last thing Bettman wanted was the Oilers getting ANOTHER #1 overall pick!
-
No silly, Babcock is going to the Leafs!
-
FYI, opposing players all the time in interviews say how tough it is to play at The Joe.

I second this. Of my favorite teams, this was the best series I experienced. 2 weeks of stress which finished with a Wings 7-0 win. We won the rivarly against the Avs, and I was thrilled! I'll never forget jumping around the living room Game 7 screaming after every goal! I think it's safe to say, I'll never experience a better series, it had it all.

We killed 7 penalties last night, Tatar and Nyquist don't kill penalties. I wouldn't worry to much about ice time, or worry to much about how badly we were out shot. I would think shot will be more even on Saturday. I agree with putting Cleary in there, he can play on the PP and kill penalties.

After Probert's death, and hearing/reading about all the physical pain McCarty is in right now, I don't miss the fighting at all. When it comes to scoring, things work in cycles. Baseball scoring is down too. Also, remember defense wins Championships. High scoring teams don't usually go to far in the playoffs.
