Yeah, we're just having a little fun.
-
I know, I remember it well, but we can beat them again. Plus it was the only match up that would work in the 2nd round.
-
One more point to guarante us atleast one more banner to be hung in the rafers. Hopefully there's 2 more (Western Conference Champions and Stanley Cup Champions) after that.
-
The players can hate Bab's all they want, but looking at the Standings we are 1st overall. I'd much rather win and score 80pts, then score 100pts and miss the playoffs. Datsyuk may turn out to be like Fedorov and see his production fall off if he goes to another team.

Round 1 Wings tickets are still cheaper than Regular Season Leaf tickets.

Dumbest thing you've ever heard another teams fans say

A friend of mine who's a Leaf fans, after our early playoff exit last year told me, and I quote, "The Wings never win anything". -
It sucks blowing the lead against Dallas last night, but when you think out of 6 potential pts in games against Anaheim, Nashville, and Dallas, the fact we got 5 and are 1 pt ahead of Nashville in the West is excellent.
-
Tough sh!t! That's how every team plays against us in the playoffs. I hope we continue with tight defensive play now till mid-June. Defense wins Championships.

He didn't really answer the question, but still cool to read.

I've been whining and complaining for years that the NHL seems to caiter to it's lower seeds in the 1st round. For some reason people like it when the underdog takes out a top dog. Then they wonder why the remaining rounds are so and the tv ratings are low. You got to hand it to the NBA, they take care of their best teams. They know what brings in the tv ratings and keeps things exciting in the later rounds.

I think this sums it up the best: Seriously I have all kinds of Red Wings stuff, I actually got rid of some of it on EBay. There's still some more in my closet just sitting there. I don't think it's anything against the Wings, it just everyone thinks they need more Tigers stuff, myself included .
-
I don't see a problem with fans jumping from one team to the other in the same city. Even though they may put more time and effort into the Tigers, it doesn't mean they aren't Wings fans. I'm a perfect example of jumping from one Detroit bandwagon to the other. I'll follow the Wings and Tigers all the time, but only the Pistons and Lions if they are doing well. If the Pistons and Lions are losing, it doesn't mean I'm not a fan, it just means I've got my attention elsewhere. Honestly, I'm really not sorry about it. My disposible income and free time can only go so far. Plus Basketball and Football really aren't my sports, but if Detroit is doing well I'll follow along. So yes, with that said, I really don't have a clue, other than losing, with what's going on with the Lions.

I like the fact that the Detroit teams compete against each other. I think it's the reason why 3 of them are among the top teams in their League.

I posted the questions about who the guys room with on the road. I'll see if he answers it. Oh man, I know it's exciting to come in contact with a athlete, but it drives me crazy when people suck around by telling them how great they are. It's over done. Just show some respect, ask your question, get out of there, and see if he answers. I would think after a while it would get tiring for the athletes, when they make contact with the fans, that people go nuts and go on and on about their abilities. Athletes are just like the rest of us, but their occupation is done in front of Millions of people.

I agree, I think Jose will comand $2-3 Million per. Teams can't pay a 30 year old former League MVP the league minimum. I just figured we'd see how far Dom would take us in the playoffs, let him retire, and bring up Howard to split game with Ozzie for 2007-08. Howard will make the league minimum, split time with Ozzie, and will probably post better than Jose type numbers anyway next year. I don't think Theodore will bounce back. It's been 3 years since he's been a #1 goalie. It's an interesting gamble, but I say leave him alone.

Hasek, Bertuzzi, and Zetterberg.

The guy is 45 and is taking a stand for the entire PA. He could easily just finish his career and keep his mouth shut. I'm sure the players have a lot of respect for him.

Same, I'm not big into promos anyway. Usually the free stuff they give you at games are cheap, that's why they are free. The Tigers in the 1980's and 1990's always gave away free stuff. I didn't save anything I got free at Tigers Stadium. I too would rather have a winning team than promos, and I'm also satisfied with our run since 1991-92 season as well. I can go back as the mid-1980's when we made our first of two Conference Finals trips against Edmonton, that's where it all started. I still want to see more Championships, but if the Wings don't win one for a while, I really can't complain.
-
I'm only an hour West of Buffalo, the city is a joke. I'm not surprised they topped the list.
-
Looking at it, I think the rankings are correct. The Wings lose points due to the lack of promos at the arena and ticket prices.
-
That's probably what Babs was thinking.
-
I wonder who said "girls" was the worst thing about being in the NHL? I think it's pretty cool that we we're voted the "toughest building to play in on the road".
-
Interesting idea, it would be good hockey, but it wouldn't be the same. We have all the best Russian players in the NHL, and I don't think it would be as big a deal in Canada if they lost. In the past it was not only hockey, but it was almost like Democratic ideas vs. Communist ideas. Considering Communism in Russia fell, it wouldn't be the same.
-
I agree. It took 4 years for Bowman to win a cup, Babcock is only in year 2. Winning a Stanley Cup takes a few years. Babs is working to make us more playoff ready. I like what I see and I still want him around next year even if we lose in the 1st round. I want to see the Wings win the Cup as much as the next guy, but there's no clear cut favorite. One of 6 teams can realistically take it. Right, which is why sometimes I find it funny that people make such a big deal when the 7th or 8th seeds take out 2nd and 1st. With the defensive systems teams are allowed to play, it happens every year in the NHL.
-
There's so many good teams out there (Buffalo, Detroit, Nashville, NJ, Anahiem, Vancouver, Ottawa, Pittsburg, Atlanta, San Jose). I think saying "Cup or bust" is really unfair. If we make it to the final 4, IMO it's a very successful season. Even if we go out in the 1st round, I still want Babs back next year. We've overachieved in 2006-07 and Babs was a big reason for it.
