Vernon heard it, we gave Ozzie and CuJo a hard time too. I don't remember position players being booed as much. We're hardest on our goaltenders.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

I think if you go over there with the right mindset it's fine. But people need to know what to expect. Don't even bother, it's not worth it. Just let things play out on the ice.

Cheveldae and Essensa come to mind.

An empty lower bowl happens everywhere, like you said it's the suits who have those seats. When a team struggles, it's good when seats don't sell. It encourages ownership to win. Just like in Detroit 20 years ago. When Mike Ilitch bought the team he knew he had to make the Red Wings a winner to sell tickets.

Wow cprice12 really unloaded on me . Oh well. One thing I don't understand is why fans go to other team's message boards and get offended. Honestly what do they expect to read? I stay the hell away from opposing team's sites, it's not worth the time or effort to get into an argument. It's pointless, no one wins.

We have A LOT to be proud of. Ted Lindsay said he liked being booed in the opposing team's rinks. I like the fact that opposing team's fans hate us. You never want the opposition to like you. That just means you're a push over. I know living in the Toronto area Leaf fans despise us.

Bertuzzi to be on WXYT 1270 at 5:30pm

If things work out, I hope Bert stays. However, I wonder if there's enough Cap room to re-sign both Datsyuk and Bertuzzi.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

We beat the Blues in the playoffs in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 2002. I figure most opposing fans hate us. Despite some early playoffs exits the last few years, we're the best. We've been the best since 1991-92, with no signs of slowing down. 2006-07 was susposed to be a rebuilding year, then end of an era. However currently we're the 3rd best team in the League and just reloaded for the playoffs and only gave up Williams, Matthias, and conditional draft pick(s). Kenny pretty much outsmarted every other team, didn't mortage the future, and made us one of the front runners for the Stanley Cup again. I don't know why but it took me a while to think of them both. I got Hull right away, but Shanny took a bit of thinking. I sometimes forget Shanny played for the Blues.

I think there's a decent chance that Bertuzzi may re-sign.

OFFICIAL: Todd Bertuzzi a Red Wing

Not sure if this has been posted, but here's the conditional pick explanation from mlive. Florida will get either a first-, a second- or a third-round pick in 2007 based on Bertuzzi's performance and the success of the team. If the Wings reach the conference finals, Bertuzzi plays in two-thirds of their playoff games and is among their top five playoff scorers, the Panthers get a first-rounder. If Bertuzzi isn't among their top five in scoring, Florida still gets a first-rounder if the Wings reach the Stanley Cup finals and Bertuzzi plays in two-thirds of the playoff games. If they reach the conference finals and Bertuzzi hasn't played in two-thirds of the playoff games, the Panthers get a second-rounder. In any other scenario, the Panthers get a third-round pick, which is the minimum. Florida will also get a second-round pick in 2008 if Bertuzzi, an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, re-signs with Detroit. It's a good deal for the Wings, who had to counter moves made by Western Conference rivals Nashville (Peter Forsberg) and San Jose (Bill Guerin). They gave up only a mid-level prospect and conditional picks. If Bertuzzi doesn't pan out, it's possibly this move could only cost them Matthias and a third-round pick. And considering the bounty Nashville gave up for Forsberg and Atlanta for Keith Tkachuk, the Wings did well by keeping their top prospects and losing, at worst, a first and a second-round pick. but excellent job on Holland's part. I was just thinking. It's funny how things work out. A friend of mine is a Canucks fan. We went to the Wings/Canucks game Nov 22. She was a big Bertuzzi fan when he was there. I told her before we went that it's ok to wear her Canucks jersey to The Joe, but probably not if Bertuzzi was on the back because, "Wings fans don't like him". Now he's on the team

    Line ideas, anyone?

Here's how I'd set things up for the playoffs: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Calder-Lang-Bertuzzi Cleary-Draper-Hudler Maltby-Franzen-Filppula Lidstrom-Kronwall Markov-Schneider Lebda-Chelios Hasek Osgood Samuelsson can trade off with Hudler and Filppula. Looking at those combos, the deals Holland made for Calder and Bertuzzi were excellent. We have a good mix of scoring and grit. Besides Betruzzi we're still a little small, but we won't be pushed around as much, like the last few seasons. Lastly, I think Langer's going to pick it up with better line mates.

Yeah good point about Peca and Tucker.

Yo North Guy, what's the mood like in Edmonton right now? I couldn't even imagine. It would be like us trading away Yzerman.

Bertuzzi hit on Chelios in 2002 Playoffs

This is similar to when we traded for Chelios in 1999. Lots of history and bad blood, but when you're on the same side, it changes everything. Yeah, it is now

    R.I.P. Eklund

Yeah, you guys have to stop posting his stuff on here. Personally, I don't read his site. However, I'm sure it's hard for someone to pick correctly when there's 30 teams involved. All of them are intereseted in improving their team and winning the cup, so there's lots of talk going on between clubs. He just reports what he hears.

    Ekland still at it.

Kenny was just on 1270. No mention of Lapointe, so I highly doubt it went down.

Thanks. I turned off the Toronto stations. I'm getting sick of hearing what the Canadian teams did. Ohhhhh sweet, Kenny is coming up on the flip side of the commericals.

I was listening to Ekland earier today. He was on the FAN590 from 11:00-1:00.

Holy Sh#t!! Edit: Sorry for the profanity, but that's all I can say.

    Ekland still at it.

I hope it's true. Man, no one will touch Datsyuk or Zetterberg if Bertuzzi and Lapointe are around.

Excellent move by Holland . Kenny screws Atlanta, Nashville, and San Jose, by only giving up only a OHL prospect, Matthius, and a conditional draft pick. Boys and girls, we have the best GM in the League.
  23. The Leafs? :puke: Understandable. Hopefully before blaming Holland for missing out, people will realize that St. Louis probably didn't want Tkachuk, Guerin, and Mayers traded to the Central Division.
  24. Barrie

Hopefully we will never see this again!

Stupid discussion. Once he get's a # with the Wings, which will be tonight, it'll be changed.
  25. If Mayers is the only guy we get today, I'm happy/satisfied. He'd be worth a mid-level prospect and a 2nd round pick. Adding both Calder and Mayers at the deadline would be excellent. Let our West rivals over pay for Betruzzi, Tkachuk, and Guerin.
