    Lapointe just beat down Hollweg

I'm not trying to prove my points, or rub anything in. I respect everyone's opinions and enjoy the debate, but since we are talking about Lapointe, I found something interesting from mlive. They mention all the available players at the deadline, and in the Lapointe section it says Yzerman has been interested in bringing him back. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/stories/inde....xml&coll=1

    Kenny, please do something!

I think Matt from now until the end of the deadline should have a delay on any new Discussions. He can read them first, and if it's something totally new, then it can become a new Discussion. If it's something that can be put in another Discussion, it's goes there..... I'm completely trained/controlled on this Board. I almost feel guilty starting a new discussion . I wouldn't be surprised out of my 1628 posts todate, if I started 5 new Discussion. I can think of only 2 I started in the past 2-3 years.

    Lapointe just beat down Hollweg

Compared to Norton, Lapointe can chip in with some goals, and would help out the PP. Plus If we're looking for playoff experience, he has it. Lapointe's far and away more valuable than Norton. Also, look at who's available..... I think Lapointe would be better than Nolan, Tkachuk, Guerin, or Roberts. He's younger than all of them, tougher, and won more cups than the 3 of them combined. I was a big Lapointe fan when he was here, but I'm not speaking with my heart, the guy pretty much has what we need. I understand he makes $2.4 Million, but I don't see how that's a big deal. It's only one year, we'll either let him go or resign him for less after 2007-08. It's Holland's call, but I would really be disapointed if Nolan or Roberts was the player we brought in at the deadline.

Norton and Bootland can't cut in in the NHL. There's a reason why they are in Grand Rapids.

Chicago maybe willing to get rid of his salary. How much would we have to give up? It's not like he's Forberg, Tkachuk, or Guerin.

    Lapointe just beat down Hollweg

http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/playerStats?categoryId=66342 I don't know, looking again at his career stats and what he brings to the table, I say he's worth it. I'm not saying that for centimental reasons, I'm saying that for what he brings to a team. Plus we'll be rid of Maltby's, Schneider's, Lang's, and Datsyuk's (maybe) contracts. The $2.4 Million won't put any strain on our team payroll next year. He's got size, grit, can score, fight, and has playoff experience. Out of everyone available, I think he'd be the best fit. Plus he's only 33. Edit: I say, bring him back!!

I think of it this way..... We're going to get rid of Maltby's contract at the end of this year. Marty atleast can still score 10-15 goals, play physical, and get into fights. Lapointe would be a great fit, plus I don't think it would cost much in a trade to get him here. Edit: Since we won't have to drain the farm system to get him, I think it's a good $2.5 Million spent.

I'm all for bringing Lapointe back.
  9. What!? Zetterberg for Art Ross? The League Leader in Points? Edit: Geeze that title made me go

    Holmstrom re-signed for 3 years, $6M (est.)

The Wings wouldn't have to. It's a safe bet to say no one else will ask for it.

    Should Detroit be Sellers?

Hasek too. We're going for the Cup this year!
  12. Barrie

2 out of our last 3 cups we finished 2nd in the division

That and if Hasek stays healthy. Babs has the boys playing playoff type hockey. I like how he tells the team to be tough to play against (hit hard, muck it up in the corners, etc..). We'll be more prepared for the playoffs this time around. When a team has success, like we did, I'm sure they feel they'll continue to win with ease. You need a few early playoff exits to stop thinking that way and get back to the root of success. The Yankees are suffering from it also. They just figure they'll roll over everyone.

    What's our answer?

Wow another discussion about this . It's what we've been talking about since Forsberg was traded.

    Good news

    Forsberg unhappy about trade

Wow! I wouldn't want anyone traded to the Wings say something like that. That was weird . He's going to a team that has an excellent shot at winning the Cup, you'd think he'd make some of those typical comments like, "I'm going to do the best I can to help the team", "Nashville has a great group of guys, I hope we can win the cup", etc.. Instead he talks about how disappointed he is for being traded. I can imagine playing in Philly would be similar to playing in Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, etc.. The team is well supported and a big part of the city. There's no chance he's going to re-sign with the Preds. They're going to have to go all the way or they're screwed. I'm glad we didn't get Forsberg.

To trade, or not to trade...

Good call betterREDthandead . No one would have guessed we'd be the 3rd best team in the league right now.

To trade, or not to trade...

Right. The Wings are more focused on the big picture. Instead of winning one Cup, I think the organization wants to put another run together and win 2 or 3. I'm all for making deals at the deadline, but it's not worth it to sell the farm and screw yourself over for the next 5 years. I'm glad we didn't get Forsberg. If Hasek stays healthy, we're going far.

    We have a smart organization.

Screw Sidney, the Saviour Has Arrived

I'm sure earlier in her career she had some. Brittany Spears had some, but then she got her boobs done, and the rest is history.......

    Are you kidding me?

    I wouldn't wear a visor, but I would wear a mouth guard.

What happened to our rivalry with the Avs?

Ok I see what he's saying now.

Screw Sidney, the Saviour Has Arrived

It really doesn't mean much to me how smart she is, she's just annoying. She traded her credibility for fame and fortune.

Screw Sidney, the Saviour Has Arrived

I know there's more overall, that's why I said percentage wise. The NHL wouldn't want to turn off their female audience. NFL, NBA, and MLB, it wouldn't really effect things to much.

Screw Sidney, the Saviour Has Arrived

Yeah I was thinking it wouldn't sit well with the female fans. I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL, out of the 4 major North American Sports, percentage wise, has the most female fans. Hands down, there's more females in the stands at NHL games then there are at NFL, NBA, and MLB games.

What happened to our rivalry with the Avs?

I love the Wings, but I have to disagree with #5. The Avs beat us 3 times in the playoffs, we beat them only twice. It was a back and forth rivarly. The upperhand changed 4 times. We eventually won it with the 7-0 win in Game 7 of the 2002 WCF. It ended there.
