MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?
Barrie replied to Howe's Bony Elbow's topic in General
I hear Anaheim is the front runner for Forsberg. I don't want to try and out do the Ducks to get him, he's to much of an injury risk and may leave next year. Besides I don't think getting Forberg is really necessary, we already have Zetterberg. I like the idea of going after Tkachuk. He's what we need and won't create a media circus like Bertuzzi. I think if we get Keith, we don't have to get rid of Lang. If we're looking to add more grit after Keith, we can trade Williams and/or a 3rd or 4th round pick. -

It's going to be an interesting Trade Deadline this year...... -
I don't want 1st either. 4th sounds good to me. Let someone else be the team everyone is gunning for.

I've always figured Hudler would be trade bait. I'm willing to let him go in a trade for Forsberg. Also, I'm ok with trading Langer. So far I like what I'm reading/hearing. -
Thanks. I think sometimes guys winding down their career get ripped to much by the fans a media. Every player slows down. When you think of guys like Draper, Maltby, McCarty, Shanny, Yzerman, Chelios, Osgood, etc. really all you can say to those guys when their times came or going to come is, "Thanks for the Memories".
-
Any word on who's starting in net tomorrow? Is Mac going again?
-
I'm also on the side of not bringing Maltby back. I have nothing negative to say about the guy. I'm a huge fan of his, but his career is winding down, and it's time to give his ice time to someone else. It something that happens to every NHL player who's career is coming to an end. I appreciate everything Kirk did in a Wings jersey, I hope he can have one last hurrah in Detroit before the season is over.
-
You gotta hand it to Holland for buying out McCarty when he did. Mac will always be one of my All-Time Favorite Wings, I wanted to keep him because of centimental reasons, but buying him out after the lockout, no question, was the right thing to do.
-
Atleast it isn't his groin.
-
Oh well, big deal. The whole idea of Free Agency is to allow players to play where they want. Also we live in North America, people have the freedoms to better themselves. What else did Shanny have to prove here? He did it all. It didn't bother me he went to the Rangers.
-
Just like Hasek, Ozzie is a bargin. Anytime you can have an experienced goalie like him for under $1 Million, keep him! Despite some injury problems, he's no pressure on the cap at all. Also, I'd be willing to bring back Maltby if he signs for a few years for something like $850,000-$900,000 per.

With all due respect to our guy Stevie, I don't think he's had anything to do with the succes this year. Last I read he was saying how much he's been learning from Holland. Kenny, Jimmy D, Babcock, and the players should be given the credit for the season so far.
-
I'm ok with Maltby, Lang, Datsyuk, and Schneider not back next year. Think of all the salary we'd free up with them gone.
-
I'm sure that's what it was. You figure in 4 days, the Wings had to be in Manhattan, Detroit, and St. Louis, and play 3 games. That's tough!
-
It's ok. I don't want the pressure of the #1 team overall and/or Central Division winner in the playoffs again. Let Nashville have it.
-
I hear ya. In Toronto it's been 10F for about two weeks, and is going to continue for another 10 days or so. Brutal!!
-
Yep I agree. He's one of the best all around players in the game today.
-
Why would he step down? Unless the owners have had enough of him, he's here to stay.
-
I've been a big Zetterberg fan since 2003-04. I hope he's a Red Wing for life.
-
I was wondering today if we could get both Bertuzzi and Lapointe. We'd have to get rid of some salary though.
-
60 and 71 Pts in those two years, and a combined 20 PP Goals. Not bad.
-
I have to agree with an earlier comment about Chelios. Chris has made many questionable hits in his career, the difference is he never seriously hurt someone. If Moore was fine after Bertuzzi's hit, it would have been forgotten, and I'd bet most Wings fans would be drooling at the chance to pick him up for this playoff run. Lapointe, McCarty, Probert, and Kocur pounded guys all the time too, the difference is they never seriously hurt someone.
-
I say get him. He's what we need.
-
It must suck for Ward to be traded to the Kings.

It's over and done with. DMac has forever given C. Lemieux the label of "Turtle", "Coward", "Dumb Ass", "Scum Bag", and whatever else you want to call him. I wish these guys didn't say anything to Claude and left it alone. It was 11 seasons ago, McCarty got him back and we won 3 Cups. They should have never given Lemieux the chance to say that about Draper. It isn't fair to Kris to make it an issue again and to get insulted like that on tv. Lemieux obviously doesn't have a clue. He has no remorse for what he did, just leave it alone. Everyone knows he's an *******, that's enough. Yeah, the best thing is, Lemiuex forever is going to have to watch his back. I'm sure the guy doesn't sleep well at night and can't go out, knowing so many people hate him and would pound his face in. That, and the fact McCarty forever totally embarrassed the guy, is justice enough for me.
