Detroit Tigers should have been AL Central Champs!
Barrie replied to Steve Z's topic in Other Sports
The Tigers should have won 82 games this year, but instead they won 95 . If someone would have told me before the season the Tigers would win the AL Wild Card I would have been thrilled, and I am. It shows you that a good start is very important. The way the Twins were playing, they couldn't be stopped. Despite losing the Division Title on the last day, I'm excited to see the Tigers in the Post Season. Anything can happen now! A Yankees-Tigers best of 5 series is going to be awesome! Man I can't wait until Tuesday night! -
I really hope Oulahen makes a move this year. He'll have more ice time with guys like Bootland, Kopecky, Hudler, etc. with the Wings. Oulahen's an excellent hockey player at both ends. He played his OHL about 30 minutes East of where I live. I hope he makes the Wings someday.

If true, I'm not to overly excited or annoyed, I guess you can say I'm on the fence. I hope we don't overpay for Carter, because I'm not banking on him scoring 33 goals as a Wing because of our depth. If asked, I'd rather see Bootland or Kopecky out there instead of Carter, but whatever.

No thanks to that deal. True we'd get rid of Lang's contract, but with Ozzie and Howard, coming up in a year, we don't need Biron. Plus, I don't see Holland trading Kronwall.

Eklund: Shanahan expected to sign 2 years/9.8 Million
Barrie replied to YoungGuns1340's topic in General
Yeah most pro-Toronto DJ's think everyone who grew up in Ontario wants to play for the Leafs before they retire. They we talking about getting Elias, Luongo, Redden, Chara, Pronger, etc.. And that's after signing Kaberle and McCabe. Not everyone there is pro-Toronto though, which gives it a good mix. Mike Hogan who does the 10:00-1:00 show, is a Whalers/Hurricanes, Eagles, and Dodgers fan. He's cool... Bob Macoun, 4:00-7:00, is American, he brings fans around here back down to earth. Actually whimpy Toronto fans complain about Bob all the time... One of the Producers of the 1:00-4:00 show is a Red Wings fan. Mike Wilner, the color guy for the Blue Jay games is the worst. He's a huge Jays "homer"! Last week he said the Tigers aren't for real and said the Jays were still in the race for the Wild Card, they're 10+ games out! Also he said Smoltz is a perfect fit for Toronto. Smoltz will never go to the Jays! -
Eklund: Shanahan expected to sign 2 years/9.8 Million

I'll miss Shanny, but mostly I'll miss that's it's not 1996-2006 anymore. It's time to make some changes and build for our next run at the Cup. IF Shanny signs elsewhere, I'll wish him all the best, thanks for the memories and 3 Cups, he was one of my favorites, and it was a blast having him here. Today on Toronto's FAN590 they were talking about Toronto putting in a bid for Shanny, and a lot of callers were for it. I don't think anyone in Toronto was expecting 2 years/9.8 Million. They were saying the Leafs should offer him $2.5 Million/year. I guess they didn't know we offered him $4 Million. -
The Red Wings uniform should NEVER be changed!

I'm looking for a good Detroit Tigers Message Board to post on and follow the Tigers this season. I used to be a HUGE Tigers fan, until they started to really suck after 2000, and my attention has been fully on the Red Wings since about 1995 (With good reason)! Do any of you know a good Tigers Message Board? I need some suggestions please. I'll try google, but a prop by anyone here would be appreciated. I used to post on a Tigers Board (I stopped in the summer of 2004), but people got to know eachother to well that they'd talk anything but Tigers, and there were to many personal/joint attacks on some people. I like when you can get to know people on Message Boards, but there still needs to be some kind of privacy as well. I find the Message Board on the Tigers Official site is full of "homers" and people who really don't know what they are talking about. Sometimes if you try and disagree with people they take it personal. It's like trying to talk Baseball with kids. Plus, there's a lot of trolls over there from other teams, since MLB official sites are kinda linked. It's easy to go over to another team's site. I'd like to find a Tigers Message Board similar to this one, if possible. However I'm starting to think this Board is one of a kind. Most people here are knowledgeable and don't get to offended if people disagree with them. Plus the Mods here do an excellent job at not allowing mutiple discussions on one topic.

lol Snoop Dog! Why am I not surprised? Sounds like something the city of Detroit would do, similar to giving Betis and Saddam keys to the city.

As much as I loved Tiger Stadium, I hope they tear it down. The last time I drove by, I was sad to see it had rust stains. I'd rather it be demolished, then let it decay. I want to remember it as a jewel.

The problem with having an International Baseball Tournament is the pitchers. The other 3 Major Sports you can do a Tournament pretty much any time, Baseball is different. I think it's a good idea, but doing it now doesn't make sense to me. The pitchers are still getting their arms ready for the season and will be lucky to pitch effectivly for 3 innings. Most of the time the pitchers aren't at 100% until early May. Today the USA/Canada game was like a Spring Training game. Both teams combined used 11 pitchers. On the local Sports Talk Radio Station, someone was talking about doing this after the World Series. I don't think it could be done then either, because the pitchers are totally worn out. This tournament has to be done mid-year, but I know that will never happen. To answer the question, under the circumstances I mentioned, I'm not interested.

The Superbowl NEVER lives up to the hype! It's the weakest Championship of the 4 major sports. A Best of 7 is 10X better than a one game winner take all Championship.

Uh.....besides the jackman one all of those pretty much suck for the wings. McLaren and Hannan are studs. They're both big, strong, punishing defencemen that Detroit could really use right now. I think I'd want San Jose to throw in a draft pick or minor leaguer, but I'd love to have one of those two on the Wings. The problem is, why would the Sharks take on another center? They already have Thornton, Marleau, and McCauley; it wouldn't make much sense. How much cap room does SJ have have after getting Thornton? IF we trade Lang, he should go to the Eastern Conference.
-
I don't think it will happen because it maybe tough to move his contract. I hope Lang doesn't get traded because he was our best player in the playoffs last year.
-
I guess there's rumors out there about trading Draper. Here's a good article about it. I say NO!! http://www.detnews.com/2005/wings/0508/19/.../D04-282023.htm If we're going to make a trade to make Cap room, trade Schneider. I thought it was a good deal at the time, but if we need to make room from Dats, Zett, and Kron, Schneider's salary should go. Plus if Delmore and Simpson are on the Blueline we can make some room for them. I'm sure there's teams out there who has room for Schneider. He had an outstanding season in 2003-04. Maybe we can pull a Philly, when they traded Roenick for future considerations?
-
How much coin is Smyth looking for? Smyth plays the Wing, which will allow Zetterberg to move to Center.
-
I'd do this deal. The one thing that concerns me about Fischer, Kronwall, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg being the future, is that they are all European. You need that mix of European and North American Players. All of our North American players are getting up there in age.
-
I agree with the comments so far. Trading Drapes would be crazy!
-
Trade Rumors are a part of sports. I don't like them either, but they'll never go away.

Where does this guy get his info?

Interesting comments. I think Kenny hit the nail on the head.

The Wings just signed Osgood, have two solid goalies, and are paying them a combined 2+ Million. CuJo won't sign with the Wings. Ken Daniels was on Toronto's All Sports Radio Station, FAN590, today and he made a few comments on the roster. Here's a few things he said: -Osgood will play 50 Games, Legace 35. -Osgood is a upgrade in net over CuJo. The CuJo experiment did not work. -Datsyuk and Zetterberg will be resigned, it's just taking some time. -Datsyuk expects Lang money. It doesn't make sense considering he's only had one break out season and hasn't scored a playoff goal since the 2002 WFC. The Market, players similar to Datsyuk, also shows he shouldn't be making Lang money yet. -Right now the Organization's hands are tied until they resign Datsyuk and Zetterberg. -Kronwall is a stud, he should become an excellent player in the NHL. -McCarty has slowed down, but is a great signing for Calgary. -The Wings are still deep enough not only to win the division, but the Western Conference. I agreed with everything he said.
-
Datsyuk's agent should just tell him to stay in Russia then. I'm really getting sick of the whole thing! Zetterberg is the better all around player, resign him, and let Datsyuk stay home. I think signing a guy for $4 Million after only one season of over 60 points is insane! We can sign two solid players for $4 Million for a season, and have money available to sign Thornton if he becomes a FA. In the long run Dat's will make a lot more playing in North America than in Russia. He's really screwing himself.
-
Oops, sorry guys, I didn't notice that there's another Discussion on these two players.

More on Oulahen. In a OHL Coaches poll he was named most underrated player, hardest worker, and best penalty killer. Gotta love those hard workers! http://www.battalionhockey.com/hm/inside.p...p?sid=4&id=3766 Edit: We could see him in Grand Rapids next year http://www.battalionhockey.com/hm/inside.p...p?sid=4&id=3803
