Right, it's probably been mentioned already, but I heard on TSN 1050 that Iginla at the last minute declined the Boston trade and said he wanted to go to Pittsburgh (despite Boston being on his "list").

I'm wondering if Pittsburgh is too good now, if that makes sense. Almost like our 1998-99 team and adding Clark, Chelios, Ulf, and Ranford. 1999 on paper was better then 1997 and 1998, but we couldn't get out of the 2nd round.

Edit: As for the signing, I've never heard of DeKeyser until I saw discussions about him on the board, so I guess it's ok. Good to see he picked us out of 8 teams. I guess people still want to play here and we haven't lost our shine yet

Detroit hasn't lost anything. For the 100th time, I think it's obvious Holland is building the team through the draft, and the days of Free Agents and blockbuster trades ended in 2005 when the Salary Cap was introduced. The market for UFA's and trades are way over priced. Seriously people can't see what Holland is doing with the team and don't understand how the cap works? Geeze, it's been 8 years! Edit: Also keep in mind the cap is going down next year.

Speaking of speed, I got a speeding ticket that day. I was driving home from work as fast as I could to watch the game. I was getting text messages about the game and couldn't wait to get home. After I got the text Helm made it 2-0, I was pulled over and got the ticket. -
My favorite Championship is 2002, but nothing will beat those late-90's teams. Stevie, Shanny, Fedorov, Ozzie, Lidstrom, Murphy, DMac, Lapointe, Larionov, Kozlov, Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom, etc. I miss those guys.

Just heard today on TSN 1050 Iginla's list has 4 teams, the last 4 Cup Champs: Pens, B.Hawks, Bruins, and Kings. Since we're switching Leagues next year, I hope he goes to the Bruins. Let Boston gutt their farm system for him.

Both guys at this point in their careers are overrated, so stick with the kids. Let another team risk their future for them. Going forward I'd like to have Smith, Kindl, Tatar, and Nyquist. -

I would think the Pens have a decent amount of fans in Russia with Malkin on the team.

My question is how can a team that has no Swedes have the largest following in Sweden? Considering the Pens have only 3 players born outside North America, I wouldn't think they'd have a huge long term following in Europe. Maybe just some fans who started following them because of Crosby.

I agree, if the Wings weren't able to get the puck out of the zone because of it, no doubt it should be a penalty. Actually I thought with about 6:00 left the Ducks should have got a penalty because Kindl was unable to get the puck of the zone on an interference, which lead to another 30 seconds of Ducks pressure.

I agree. Just like UFA's, trades are way over inflated. Smart teams like Detroit, just stick to drafting and developing their own players. Yeah, ok, the Wings are hitting their stride, lets unload.
