  1. I've been saying from the beginning the owners need to decide what kind of system they want to play under. They're trying to take money from the players, but they're not all on the same page.

    Holland booed off Ford Field

I'm one of Holland's biggest fans, but I would have booed him on Sunday too. It's nothing against Kenny, but it's a way to send a message to the NHL. The best thing would be if the Cup was presented to the team in an empty arena.

    Countdown to January 14th

I've heard one thing working in the owners favor is that season tickets aren't being cancelled. Bettman knows fans will be back.
  4. I think Mr. I is more concerned with winning a World Series. I don't mean that as a bad thing, he just wants to see the Tigers as Champions before he dies.

    List of Divers

Make sure to include the entire 2009-10 Sharks team.
  6. My question is, are the owners going to revenue share better? If not we'll have another lockout in 8 years.

1995 vs 2009 Red Wings squads

I'd say 1995 was worse. At least with 2009 we had 4 Cups. Losing to the Devils was painful, and it was a sweep. Plus those early to mid-90s teams were like the Sharks. Great regular seasons, but we couldn't get it done in the playoffs. We were wondering if we'd ever win the Cup, plus Yzerman had a subpar year and during the entire off season there was the rumors Yzerman would be traded. My biggest regret with the 2009 playoffs was Ozzie didn't get his due, he would have probably won playoff MVP. It's probably tough to compare the two teams because in 1995 and 2009 the game was very different. However, I'd probably say the 2009 team was better because of the star power. It would be a good series though, because the 1995 teams was tough and could probably wear down the 2009 team. Agree. After that year, it felt like we'd never win. Lemiuex's hit on Draper was like the final knock out punch... But then we made the Shanahan trade, McCarty got Lemiuex back, and everything changed.

    Every player a UFA?

But to comment on the original post, if this happened where everyone was a UFA, it would take a month or more to get everything in order, then you'd have to have a training camp. If this is going to court NOW (late December), lets face it, we're not having a season. Also, even if they got something signed soon (with no scheduled talks), how are they going to have a proper training camp? Again I say, we're not having a season. Bettman and the Owners with their take it or leave it approach, are a complete embarrassment. Personally I think they're scared to play. It's safer for them to continue with the lockout, because they won't have to realize the consequences of their actions until next October.

Right, as I've said to Maple Leaf fans who say the Wings bought the Cup in 2002, the Leafs were the most bought team in the League that year.

This League seems to be run by a bunch of people with the same education as a bunch of 12 year olds. I really hope you all don't go running back when the League finally starts up again. Hockey fans need to be more like Baseball fans. All Baseball had to do was lose one World Series before the fans made a statement. MLB wouldn't even think about missing games again. Hockey fans keep taking crap from those who are incharge. The only reason why Bettman can continue to lock out the players is he knows that the fans will be back. Hockey fans, take a stand, or else Bettman will continue to treat you like crap.

Call me crazy, but I'm starting to wonder if in a few years some players are going to file lawsuits against Bettman and the League for costing them 2 years of their career, and I'm not talking about salary. Everytime I see Datsyuk and Zetterberg, I think of how unfair it is to them to have to lose 60 career goals and 80 career assists to their lifetime totals because Bettman and the owners can't make things work. These lockout are effecting career numbers and are taking away a chance for some players to reach levels of excellence in the history of the game. Bettman can only push people around for so long before they push him back 10 times worse. I know if I was a star player, I'd think of something like a personal lawsuit against the guy. I'd ask around and see what other players thought and if they'd want to join me.

    New CBA

There will be another lockout because Bettman isn't adressing the main issue that would fix things, revenue sharing. Bettman would rather crush the PA then revenue share. If he doesn't want to revenue share, he should move the bankrupt teams to better markets, or get rid of the Cap/Floor. He can't have things both ways. Right, Bettman had a lockout after the 1993-94 when the game was more popular then the NBA, and now a lockout after record revenues. Lawyers, who needs 'em

See this is what I don't understand about the owners, they want a Salary Cap and a Floor, but the big teams don't want to share revenues. If they want a Salary Cap and Floor, they HAVE to revenue share. If the rich teams don't want to revenue share, then get rid of the Cap and Floor. It isn't that difficult to understand. These issues are between the owners, and doesn't have anything to do with the players. We're going to miss another season of hockey because the owners can't agree with themselves. It's not up to the players to save Phoenix, Florida, Columbus, Nashville, etc. from bankruptcy. Plus a 7% decerease in the player's share won't begin to cover the tens of Millions of $ teams are losing. Unless the owners can get their crap together, we'll have another lockout in 7 years. If you ask me, the compromise is a Luxury Tax.

Yea I think we aren't seeing a bigger amount of season ticket cancellation, is because most of them are owned by corporations. They can take the loss, plus everything is a tax write off anyway. Bettman's using this as leverage, but it's really not a true represenation of what he majority of fans are thinking. It's like being a Maple Leafs fan, even if you want to try and protest the 45 years of horrible management, the corporations buy all the seats and the team is still making it's huge profits despite losing, so they'll never see their team win. It's unfair, Bettman can use the corporations to his advantage. It's not the players who are greedy, it's Bettman.

I'd say don't get involved with the NHL, Gary Bettman likes to shut down the game every 7 years

Most important moments in Wings history

I would agree with GoWings1905, the brawl game should be included, as well as the Shanahan trade, and even putting more attention on the finding and signing of Gordie Howe. I would probably leave off when they moved to Detroit and changing of the team name, those aren't fun to read about. It would be interesting to try and rank Red Wings moments from 10-1.

If with you man. I've decided I'll only comeback if Bettman's gone. I'm not interested in following this League anymore with him in charge. He makes me so angry that it's not worth it. Baseball and Football can be my 2 main sports now, Hockey can suck it. I've actually been seriously thinking of taking down all my Red Wings stuff I have up in my house and redecorating. It pains me to have to do that, because this team has meant so much to me the past 20 years, but I've just had enough. I'd rather just move on and not see anything Hockey related anymore.

I hope more players speak out against Bettman. The owners should too. So I hear the Leafs and Red Wings are against the Lockout and want to play. How many Leagues, when their two best teams wanting to play, aren't being listened to by the man they employ? If the Yankees and Red Sox don't agree with a Lockout, Selig would listen. If the Lakers and Knicks don't agree with a Lockout, David Stern would listen. If the Patriots and Packers don't agree with a Lockout, Roger Goodell would listen. Only in the NHL would a little twerp go against what his two richest teams are saying. It's one of the reasons why ESPN told the NHL "nuts to you", and NBC Sports and all the major American TV Networks will do the same thing. The NHL is going to rot. The only way I think the Owners can save the League is if they fire Bettman. I don't see how he can continue as commish after all this, and how he could present another Stanley Cup without starting a riot in the building when fans try and get him. He'll either start a riot, or he'll hear crickets chirping because the arena will be empty.

I hope more players call Bettman an idiot and a cancer. That's exactly what he is! It's time for him to either step down, or for him to be taken down. He won't step down, so it's time for Fehr and the PA to take him out, and I think that's why Fehr was hired, to take out Bettman. Bettman's easily the worst Commish in the history of sports, and the 2012-13 Lockout will be the worst decision a Commish has ever made.

Yea Bettman and the 7 owners that back him are in a dream world. They're nothing compared to MLB, who Fehr took on and beat. Fehr probably hasn't even broken a sweat yet, is loving every minute of this, and is probably laughing and making jokes about Bettman behind closed doors. With the other 22 other owners putting pressure on Bettman to get a deal done, he better give in. Fans and advertisers are pissed, and there's a number of them who won't return. Bettman's self infalted ego has runied the game. The NHL will be lucky if it only takes them 3 years to recover. It'll probably take about 5. I've been saying from the beginning Bettman won't be Commish when this is all done. I wouldn't be surprised if he'll be out of a job by the end of December. The only way we'll get a new CBA signed is if Bettman's gone. I laugh everytime I hear/read someone say he does what the owners tell him and they all back him. Bettman has his own agenda and he put himself in a position where it's almost impossible for him to be fired, however he's almost reached that point. This is similar to a country trying to get rid of a dictator.

An "All-Provincial" Team From Each Province

I wouldn't bet on it, Thornton is on team Ontario, they won't even make the finals! Saskatchewan has Marleau, they won't go to far either. Edit: Nice work by the way. Just couldn't resist knocking Thornton and Marleau, it's just to easy.

Filppula out 6-8 weeks with sprained MCL

If Helm and Filp are injured, I'm in no rush for the new CBA. Fehr, Bettman, take as much time as you want.
