I was telling my cousin this today, I think Bettman and in his panic to try and save his bankrupt franchises and ignoring League rules, effects the outcome on the ice too much, and it has a negative results on series outcomes. Well negative for us fans, but positive for him. We've seen two players, Malkin in 2009 and Weber in Game 1, who should have got suspensions, but they didn't. It effected one series against us, and maybe another. Instead of letting things happen, Bettman is favoring his crap markets... And we're just one team, I'm sure fans of other teams have lists of their own, of players who should have been suspended. I'm starting to wonder too, that the League have told GM's they're going to clean up the game and they should bring in more skilled players. Teams like the Red Wings have made all the moves to be more skilled thinking head shots and fighting will FINALLY be a thing of the past. However, the League has either, fooled teams like Detroit because they want the small markets to win, or are a bunch of ******* and can't control their players. I almost compare these lack of fines to parents who just let their kids run wild, and instead of properly disciplining their kids, just say, "Stop it, stop it" while their kids are yelling and screaming.

lol at the Pens. Sure we're down 2-1, but at least the Pens are about to go down 3-0. -

No trust me, NBC is better. All CBC does is cheer for the team with the most Canadians. -

I'll take to goal any day, but I don't mind starting the period on the PP. It'll eliminate any luck bounce goal by Nashville early in the 3rd. We can continue with our momentum. -

We'll get it in the 3rd. -
They need someone who's not associated with the game to hand out discipline/suspensions.

Tootoo's a piece of garbage, but CBC loves him because he's Canadian. -

Yea you can tell the station is run by the Canadian Government because their marketing strategies are so short sighted. All the do is cheer for the team with the most Canadians, even if it means absolute crappy ratings in the later rounds if the bigger hockey market loses. I don't expect them to favor Detroit, but if the Wings get eliminated, there goes a huge chunk of their viewers. How many Canadians, or people in US boarder cities, are Preds fans? I say zero. -

I had to mute the TV, CBC is cheering for Nashville and wetting their pants with excitement over Weber. -
Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
Barrie replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Yup, best part of the game. I don't think he would have smashed his head into the boards, he was just showing Weber he had the chance, but has to much class. I'll take European hockey players on my team any day over Canadians. Knowing the way the NHL works Zetterberg would have been suspended. I'm amazed to think Nashville fans found Weber almost gaving Zetterberg a concussion funny. It just shows you the IQ level of some hockey fans. The more head shots, the more stupid fans the game appeals to. -

Great game by the Wings! Zetterberg grabbing Weber's head was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Loved it! -
I would think Vandy is one of those stereotypical internet tolls who sleeps till noon, lives in his parent's basement, eats pizza and doritos all day, collects welfare checks, and is only brave sitting behind his keyboard... You can recognize these people after only a few posts.

Wings in 6. Yea typical Canadian players. It's to bad the League can't put a stop to that and let the stars run the league, instead of the mid level players. Fans shouldn't have to worry about their star players getting injured, unless it's a freak injury.

Yea great points by Cherry. If the Wings don't make it to the finals, I'd like to see Pittsburgh and Vancouver play in the finals. Canada will see that their precious Crosby isn't a saint. Canadians will understand what Americans, and fans of American teams, are saying about him.

I was in the car listening to it on the radio, and when Robitaille scored to make it 3-0, I was yelling and honking the horn. Living outside Toronto, people probably thought I was drunk or something. Outside the Cup wins, that's my favorite Wings game of all-time. I knew at that moment we won the rivarly. As mentioned, that 2002 Cup run had so many memorable moments! It was the most stressful of the 4, but the most satisfying (well for me anyway). 1997 was the first in 42 years so it's special and we beat the Avs, but we dominated going 16-4. 1998 and 2008, espcially 2008, didn't have much drama because there really wasn't a doubt. Both of those runs, the only scary moments were in the first rounds, but once we got past that, we cruised to the end. Edit: In 1998 after coming back against the 'yotes, all we had to deal with was a few long goals Ozzie let in, but he always bounced back the next game... Again, 2008 was total domination from the first game of the season to when we won the Cup, it was easy on the nerves.

This is my favorite. It's two plays, but they only happened 13 seconds apart, so they could count as one. GMRwings1983 was talking about yelling the loudest at the Larionov goal, the Lidstrom and Draper goals I yelled the loudest. I remember, I'm sure just like everyone else, was still buzzing about the Lidstrom goal and Draper scored and I yelled just as loud. I love how Bob Cole says, "Draper gets another Goal!!" I'm getting chills just thinking about it again! Edit: The 2002 Cup was by far my favorite of the 4. It had the most drama and memorable moments, and I remember where I was for every big moment of that run. I remember too the conversations I had during and the night/day after those games. Again, I'm getting chills just thinking about it! Nothing against the other 3 Cups, but they don't "take me back" as much as 2002.

Yea when Crosby scored that OT winner the first thing I said was, "Why Crosby?" And yea again, in 2009 Malkin, Talbot, Fleury, the NHL (for not suspending Malkin for Game 3), and the refs (for not being able to count to 6) won the Cup. It wasn't Crosby.

I've been thinking the thing this team needs is a consistent 35-40 goal scorer. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are great all around players, but are more play makers. I would think Hudler and Stuart won't be back, and I wonder if somehow Franzen, despite his long term contract, gets traded? With out Hudler, Stuart, and Franzen on the team, and possibly Lidstrom and Holmstrom, we'll have plenty of cap room for Parise and a stud defense man.

Cool site! I was at the 2/23/12 one against Booth with my cousin.

Discuss here. Also I finished my bracket in a pool my cousin is running on Yahoo. I used dice to make my pics, very scientific I know . Anyway my Final 4 is Kentucky vs Michigan State, and Vanderbilt vs North Carolina. I have Michigan State beating Vanderbilt . Go Spartans!

I have a question now on the same play. After the Panthers player comes out of the box, would it make it a second PP chance, or just still one?
-
Hate to say I told you so (not you, just an expression), but I was one of those people who said keep Hudler and take advantage of him playing for a contract next year. Hudler's played well all year. He's got more goals than Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Filppula, and is only 1 behind Franzen for team lead. Nice going Jiri

And the NBA knows how to market it's game better. They don't like it when their bottom teams knock out the top seeds, because they know it effects TV rating and the style of play in the later rounds, unlike the NHL who seem to love upsets. Sorry I'm still pissed about 2004 and 2006 . People seemed to love the fact the Flames and Oilers took out the Wings early, but then they were wondering why the games were so slow, boring, and TV ratings were down in the later rounds. Edit: Forgot to add the 2003 Ducks.
