It's not word for word, but I posted this on my facebook... Funny how the Leafs, after killing their chances to make the playoffs AGAIN have now won two in a row. It's probably guaranteed they'll put a good run together here at the end, get everyone excited for next year, but will get another mid-level draft pick. I dedicate this song to them: I had a reply that said, "Funny how it looks like a Red Wings symbol" Or they'll do what their doing now, and win some games.

I agree. I'll give Cros' his due, Thornton's just a puss!
-
Just had to say: Thornton sucks! I despise him more than Crosby!

The cameras in SJ are to far from the ice. It's tough to follow the puck, even on a decent sized TV. Big goal by Pavs. We're playing well, despite being down 2-1, I can see us win this game.

There's no chance at the Division. If I was betting, I'd say we'll hold on to 4th with Datsyuk back on Saturday, and Lidstrom eventually back before the playoffs. We're due to go on a run here and end the season strong. However, I too don't think that finishing 5th or 6th isn't that big a deal. If we finish 5th, we'll still play Nashville first round, and the only difference is, one more road game. 4 home games, or 3, we can beat Nashville. When you start a series on the road, all you need to do is win one of the first two games and you have home ice. Also after the 1st round, there isn't a difference between the 4th and 5th seeds. Also finishing 6th, but I highly doubt that'll happen, means we play Dallas 1st round.

If you Could Change Five Outcomes in Hockey History

Wow, I've never heard that before! I've heard Moore was one of, if not the biggest, jerk in the league at the time, this just proves it! -

No doubt! My Dad was 20 in 1972 and has a lot of, "When game ___ was on I was watching it at ______" stories. He has a great story of Game 8. He worked at a camera store then, and was working when the game was on. They had a TV on in the back and all the employees were watching. Customers were coming in, who didn't care about hockey, and they wouldn't go out to help them. An annoyed customer said to my Dad, "Ummm can you please give me a hand." My Dad said, "The game is on, we're not serving customers now." -

A 5th cup would have been amazing, but the only regret I have from 2009 is that Ozzie didn't get the Conn Smythe. I'll forever say that Cindy and the Pens were handed that Cup, they didn't win it. Malkin should have been suspended for Game 3, and there should have been that to many men penalty called in Game 6. Bettman's dirty finger prints are all over that 2009 Penguins Championship. It would have been great to win in 2006, but I still think if we're only going to win one Cup since 2002 with this team, 2008 was the year. Ozzie won the #1 spot back, McCarty made his return, and Yzerman had his hand in that win too as an assistant to Holland. Story book finish if you ask me. -

Despite being Canadian, because of Clarke's slash, I'm not too impressed with the team Canada win. It would have been a more satisfying win if Russia had all their best players. Also, sometimes people forget that it wasn't really Team Canada, it was team NHL. WHA players, Howe and Hull, weren't allowed to play, plus Orr was injured. I've always wondered what it would be like if Team Canada/NHL would have lost. I guess instead the 1976 Canada Cup, and Orr's 2002 Yzerman type performance, would be the defining moment in Canadian Hockey history. To answer the OP question, off hand, mine would be any winning series by the 1995 Devils, 2003 Ducks, 2004 Flames, and 2006 Oilers (that don't involve the Red Wings). Teams that play the trap and ride a hot goalie, all they do is encourage other 5-8 seeds to try it and they ruin the flow of the game. Also it's led to this, just make the playoffs anything can happen mentality, creating teams only striving for mediocrity, instead of becoming powerhouses. -
Well, maybe just in Red Wings land. The Tigers are rippin' apart Spring Training, and Calvin Johnson signed a 7 year deal.
-
Thanks to that discussion started from the Blues fan, I've been watching some old clips of the Wings-Blues series in 1996. This team needs Steve Yzerman!
-
I'm wondering why the Wings took lessons from the Leafs?
-
If one of the top seeds is going to get beat in the 1st round, it'll be the Blues.
-
I'm not sure about that Selanne goal. If Holmstrom would have done that, it would have been a penalty!
-
Ok Wings, let's win a game! I'm going to delay my fitness and nutrition studying for a second night in a row to watch you! Bad news about Lidstrom. I say shut him down until the playoffs, get Dats back ASAP, and have the rest of the guys step it up!
-
The owners love it because they can raise ticket prices. Any game outside our Division, or League, whatever they want to call the 4 Divisions/Leagues, can be considered an elite game, and up go the prices. If another lockout gets Bettman canned, then bring on another lockout!
-
Yea I'm currently studying fitness and nutrition for a side business. Another LA goal and I can study a bit more before bed.
-
I was thinking the same thing!
-
At least they'll get a good draft pick, but Burke will probably trade it away anyway.

If the cap goes up to $69 or $72 Million, what would the Floor be? I know the Cap is linked to revenue, but I don't think the small markets will be to happy if the Floor is something like $60 Million. They have to restructure the CBA. The Floor should be optional. If you hit the Floor, you can get revenue sharing, if you want to stay under the Floor and pay out what you bring in, that's fine, but (in my best Soup Nazi voice) "No Revenue Sharing for You!!"

I can sympathize with Lidstrom and his bruise. I think I bruised a bone (I didn't go to the doctor, so it's my own diagnosis) in my wrist over two weeks ago playing Broomball. If you haven't played it, it's like hockey but instead of skates, you run on the ice. One of the times I wiped out, I landed on my wrist, and it stung pretty bad. I still kept playing, however, 16 days later I can't put any pressure on it to push myself up, do pushups without push up bars when I exercise, or lean on it. With that said, the wrist is bad enough, I can't imagine what the ankle is like. Take your time Nick!

$69 or $72 million? Good thing we missed a year of hockey.
-
Yea Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Franzen came out of no where. I'm sure our farm system will produce the next waive of stars soon.
-
And it's only a 3 year deal. Imagine being stuck with the Wisniewski or Ehrhoff deals?
-
I've never been a big Ericsson fan, but I don't blame Holland for his contract. It was based more on the over inflated market for guys like Wisniewski and Ehrhoff, than his skills. Crymson already mentioned it: The market was weak and over inflated, Kindl and Smith were unproven, and Rafalski retired.
