LA's playing great... Why haven't they played like this all year?

There we go, we're back in business! 1-1

Multitasking at it's best: Listening to the Dan Patrick Show podcast on the computer, and watching the Red Wings game muted on TV.

Talk today on TSN Radio in Toronto was that Burke's rebuild has failed. I agree... That must a horrible feeling as a fan, Burke has been there 4 years, and they still don't have a piece or two to build around. Plus Seguin scored two goals against them last night. Ray Ferarro was on and the host, Bryan Hayes, asked him how many players the Leafs are away from contending. Ray said 4, a 1st line center, a big winger, a front line D, and a goalie... That's 3 or 4 years of work for a GM! What's Burke been doing the last 4 years? I seriously wonder if I'm the only one living in the Toronto area who's frustrated with the Leafs, and I can't stand them! Figure that one out!

It must suck being a SJ fan.

Hudler and Stuart will be off the books next year, maybe Lidstrom and Holmstrom, plus there's extra cap room. Just as long as the cap doesn't go down (let's go players in the next CBA), I'm sure Holland will make some major moves in the off season!

Leafs lose again. This free fall is legendary! I've never seen anything like it before! A month ago they were in 6th, and local sports talk hosts were thinking they had a shot at 4th (which I thought was insane!). Now they're only 3 points out of 14th! With the way things are going, 14th could happen, and they'll be 27th in the entire league. Hey at least they'll get a decent draft pick. With the way the franchise is going right now, unless Burke make another trade , that may not be a bad thing. The draft will be the best way to get a Center for Kessel.

I appreciated the refs taking control of the game after the Kronwall hit. Philly got two penalties for trying to retaliate. If the league wants to get rid of fighting, it's up to the refs to calm things down, so props tonight to the officiating

At least Nashville lost. If Lidstrom and Datsyuk weren't hurt we'd still be in 2nd. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all of our loses with them out have been by only 1 goal. Such is life, let's just hold off Nashville for now, and I'm sure we'll go on a run to end the season when everyone's healthy.

Ok, Datsyuk and Lidstrom can come back any time.
-
To help the PP and PK, Datsyuk and Lidstrom need to come back.

People in Denver have a huge chip on their shoulders. It's like when Detroit would beat Colorado, in the heyday of the rivalry, all Avs fans could come up with was talk about Detroit's unemployment rate and say, "At least I live in Denver and not Detroit"... I'll probably piss off a lot of arrogant people in Denver when I say I've never had any desire to visit their city. Other than 3 years in Windsor, I've lived my life about 45 minutes from downtown Toronto (3 hours from downtown Detroit), but been a Detroit and a Saskatchewan Roughriders (Canadian Football) fan since my Dad introduced me to sports at the age of 5. People don't always cheer for the local team. People like me, despite living in one Metro area, do have family ties to other cities, states, and provinces. Both sides of my family are originally from Saskatchewan. My Dad's side stayed there, my Mom's side moved to Windsor (after my parents got married they moved to Metro Toronto). I grew up with Detroit and Saskatchewan sports teams. I have Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents, and Parents who are all Red Wings, Tigers, Lions, Michigan State, and Roughriders fans. When I'd visit my Grandparents in Windsor, Dad would take me to a Detroit game, when I'd visit my Grandparents in Saskatchewan, Dad would take me to a Roughriders game, which explains my cheering interests. In this case of the OP, I'm sure a lot of those Pens fans have similar memories that I have, and I don't blame them one bit for still wanting to be a Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers fan, despite living in Denver. Have you ever heard Dater interview on the radio? The guy's a horrible interview. I can understand why he's a writer and not a tv/radio guy.
-
Say what you want about those guys, but we're stuck with Franzen, Bertuzzi, and Cleary for a while.

There's nothing wrong with some competition going into the playoffs, I'm ok with the Blues putting pressure on us. Also I don't see how not winning the division will mean we don't have a shot at winning the Cup. Teams have won the Cup in the 4th seed. I agree, I think the travel arguement is more about a $$$ thing for the team, and doesn't have much effect on the players. If the Wings move East, the main thing is, the team will save money traveling less.

Plus if teams get 0 points in a SO loss, players would be putting the puck in their own net with a few seconds left in OT to guarantee at least 1 point. I think there's only 3 options, 1) keep it the same, 2) make every game 3 points, or 3) go back to ties.
-
Yea the sports talk radio shows in Toronto on Monday will be flooded with calls. RC's the savior!
-
I'm in favor of all games being 3 points. 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for a OT/SO win, and 1 point for a OT/SO loss. I don't care if point totals will be outta whack with all games being 3 points, because points are already outta whack now! What's the difference? I'm with ya man, I never had a problem with ties. Edit: or the OT loser getting nothin'!

I can see by next year how the deal will go in the Bruins favor. The Leafs will miss the playoffs this year and next, while Seguin becomes the Bruins best player. Seguin is already only 2 point behind the team lead in points, and is leading the League in +/-. If Dougie Hamilton and Jared Knight become solid NHL players too, it'll be a nightmare for Burke. I'd be surprised if Burke last through next year. I can't stand the Leafs, and I've had enough of the guy.
-
I can't believe CBC keeps Cherry around, the guy is an embarrassment.

Hockey parent uses laser pointer to "blind" opposing goalie
Barrie replied to Gizmo's topic in General
That's a bad decision by the state athletic board, they should re-do the 3rd period. I'd even consider disqualifying the winning team so some other parent doesn't try it. -
TB won in OT, putting the Leafs in 12th. I hate to tell Leaf fans, "I told you so", but that's where I picked them at the beginning of the season, as mentioned many times already. They just don't have that star player, or two, that can lead them out of a slump and in the stretch drive. I'm on record saying when Burke took over they wouldn't make the playoffs for 5 years, this is year 4. Unless Burke can make a big trade in the off season, they still won't have that star player they so desperately need for 2012-13. Add to that, what star player would agree to a trade to Toronto? Now they're in that middle of the pack for the draft, so they can't get a star in the draft, unless they finish in the bottom 3 again. Burke has no patience, won't allow that to happen, and is content trying to finish 8th, so the Leafs are stuck finishing in the middle as long as Burke is in charge. With that said, I don't see the Leafs making the playoffs for a few more seasons now either. It's a horrible situation. I've/We've beaten this to death, but that Kessel deal was awful. Hall or Seguin are both going to be much better players, who they had a chance to get, but Burke screwed the franchise. Makes me glad to be a Red Wings fan.
-
Burke puts to much pressure on this team with what he says to the media. A team build around Kessel-Phaneuf-Reimer isn't a playoff team, no matter what Burke says.
-
Burke should go too, he's the one who put this team together.
-
Yea Rick will call "a buddy" to look at it... Everyone he knows is a "buddy"
-
He should take it to Pawn Stars. Rick and Corey will see that it's a replica within seconds.
