I've been a fan of Stuart since he got here, but if he didn't re-sign, I don't think it's that bad. He is 32, and we'd probably have to sign him for 4 years to bring him back. We could get someone who's younger to take his spot.

Don't look now, if the season ended today we'd be playing the Sharks in the 1st round!
-
I'm already there, lol! I dislike Thornton more than Crosby.

Nice Win by the Wings. We showed those snot nosed little punks from Edmonton who's boss!
-
It's obvious SJ is clueless when it comes to making it past the Conference Finals on their own, I'm not surprised they're copying us. We'll get 'em this year in the playoffs.

Datsyuk did miss about 30 games with a bad wrist last year. Maybe it's still bothering him?

Very true! Anyone who makes the semi-pros or pros, was by far the best player in his Leagues prior to making it big. Also I think there's a lot of parents out there who need to realize if their kid isn't the best player in his League, he's got no chance at being a professional athlete.

Is it just me, or have guys like Draper, McCarty, and Maltby made role players cool? Ever since the 1997 Cup run, when I played sports, I was ok being a role player if it was a sport I wasn't the best at. If I'm not the star it's fine. Just hustle, make my plays, and help the team win. The stars on the team appreciate the hard work and know you'll be there if they have a bad game. The current sports I play in Leagues are Baseball and Flag Football (I'm past the age of wanting to get tackled ). To many times I've heard guys complain about where they're hitting in the order in Baseball, or not getting enough passes in Football. As already posted, just know your role and shut your mouth! I'll add, just go out there, play as a team, and win! I'd much rather win a championship and be a role player, than be the star and not win. Edit: Just read the article, I'm not a big fan of what was written, it almost made Draper seem like he was a right place at the right time guy, and was only lucky. Drapes was one of the hardest workers on the team! There was a reason he wore a "A" for a while. I do however appreciate that he was mentioned.

That's the way Wings! Keep it going!

And make sure it's the picture on the right, not the left!

There's still 71 games to go, but a bad season means a great #1 draft pick position! Let the rebuild begin!

Wow Bizarro World! The Leafs are 1st in the East, and the Wings are falling in the West. At 0:30 Jerry explains Bizarro World: I don't mean to make jokes. I've only watched one game all year, luckily it was in the first 5, so I can't really comment on the first 11 games. At least there's still 71 to go, so I'm no where near pushing the panic button. It'll probably be one of those things where once we break this losing streak, we'll win 8 of our next 10.

Don't forget trading your 1st round picks too!
-
I don't get why all these threads show up after losses, the guy/gal who starts 'em always gets ripped apart!

Despite playing all those playoff rounds against Pronger, and seeing him drive Holmstrom's (my favorite current Wing) head into the glass in the 2007 playoffs, he's one player I don't mind. I hope Pronger's ok and he's back on the ice soon. I know the visor debate has started again. I'm not sure if it could have been prevented if he was wearing one.

Maybe to the hockey gods, Columbus was due for a win? We can't win 'em all, and Columbus can't lose 'em all.

Veterans Players Choosing to Wear visors/ Younger Players Going Withou
Barrie replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Excellent comment, I've thought the same thing before. Even if the visor withstood a 100 mph shot, I'm sure the helmet could move forward/down and the visor's bottom edge could still cut right through the player's upper lip if the chin strap was a little loose. And who knows, if there was a hairline crack in the visor a player didn't know about, the thing could break. Either a full or half cage on a helmet would be safer than a visor. Actually other than Crosby, the NHL doesn't know how to market their players, with or without a visor. I'm not against a full cage. Why just protect the players eyes, when you can protect their entire face? -
Wow shows you how much I've been paying attention, I didn't even know we lost 7-1! Conk played the last two games right? Nuff said. I don't usually get to worried about losing on the road. If we play .500 or a little better away from The Joe, that's good! If we start losing and playing bad at home, that's when it's time to be concerned.

I saw this while reading the article about the concessions the Wings would make for realignment. I was going to say, "Only in Philly", but we'd probably boo Crosby and Toews too! http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Flyers-fans-boo-rivals-alas-it-8217-s-during-?urn=nhl-wp14710

Veterans Players Choosing to Wear visors/ Younger Players Going Withou
Barrie replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Doesn't sound surprising to me that the older guys are being cautious and the younger guys think they'll be ok. I'm still ok with the players having the choice to wear a visor, but wouldn't lose sleep if the league made them mandatory. I think the league doesn't want to make visors mandatory, because seeing the players faces in full view is a good way to market the players. -
Yea I understand that, but like I said, they take naps before games. They're on different clocks and schedules than we are. The majority of us are up and out of the house before 8:00. They probably sleep till 11:00 or noon the day after games anyway. Also I'm sure a lot of them sleep on the plane. Personally I don't think the travel is as bad as we think, it's part of the job, but that maybe easy for me to say. We have won 4 Cups despite the travel. I think it's more of a cost for the team.
-
When you watch the commercial, of course they'd boo. The first thing you see is Crosby. If they didn't want fans to boo, or actually listen to their message, they should film 30 of those commercials, one for each team/arena.
-
I don't really buy the travel argument. Everything they have is first class and 5 star all the way, plus they take naps before the games. I think after a year or two, they're used to the travel. Also I'm sure the Wings when they're playing at the Joe don't get to bed until 3am or later after they talk to the press, have a post game meal, drive back to the 'burbs, and eventually finally wind down after the game. I know a lot of the Eastern Teams travel by bus. Personally I'd find a plane to be more comfortable. When traveling by a bus you can get caught in traffic and road construction. There's no traffic jams or road work in the skies. I think the travel thing is more of an issue with the team than players. Being in the East the Wings can save money on travel, that's what the team wants.

I like the West too!
