What's the point of switching conferences if they're going to put us in the Southeast? I thought the Wings wanted to switch to get a better travel schedule. Having to go to Florida, TB, and Carolina all the time isn't much of a difference. However the players will like those road trips in January and February. So true... That's what I've been saying too! That makes the most sense to me, and it's the easiest.

Yea who cares? I get -'s for being anti fighting, ah whatever...

Hudler's in a contract year, keep him around and take advantage of the big year he's going to have.

I can't believe anyone would call 2002 anti-climatic. There was so much pressure in 2001-02 to win the cup. We were down 0-2 to Vancouver in the 1st round, down 2-3 to Colorado in the Conference Finals, and down 0-1 to Carolina in the final. Imagine if we lost to Vancouver or Carolina?... Don't forget Yzerman's leg injury. We didn't know how long he'd hold up, or even play the next day. If one of the Cup runs was anti-climatic, it's 2008. The only stressful part of that run was when we were tied 2-2 against Nashville and Game 5 went into OT. Franzen ended that one in a minute, and we dominated the rest of the way. Every round of the playoffs we won the first 2 games of the series. Stress was low that year from the beginning of the season to when we hoisted the Cup in Pittsburgh. Edit: 2002 was my favorite cup. Winning that 3rd cup in 6 years put us in with the greatest teams of all time.

I'll say 4-1 Wings. For those of us Canadian Wings fans, Sportsnet East is showing the game.

Electrophile mentioned the lack of Yankees pitching, I think the Tigers-Rangers is going to be a better matchup than Yanks-Rangers because of the Yankees lack of pitching. If the Yankees got past the Tigers, they really didn't have the pitching to go much further. Seeing Girardi make a pitching change every inning to me looked like he was panicking. He had to take Nova out, but why did he give Hughes the hook that early? He could have gone at least 4 or 5 innings. I'm glad Leyland didn't use Verlander, despite the pressure from the media, because Girardi said he was going to use CC. I saw no reason to use J.V. yesterday, Fister's a great pitcher and the bullpen is solid! Anyway looking forward to the ALCS starting Saturday, and FOX taking over. TBS sucked!

I'd keep Inge out there until he stops hitting. Plus Porcello is a ground ball pitcher, I want Inge playing 3B over Betemit. I put this as my Facebook status this morning, "Detroit is getting ready to party like it's..... 2006"

Wow I'm getting a lot of negative votes lately for my comments about head shots and fighting. Again, doesn't bother me, I think somethings need to be said. You all realize the league is trying to get the game cleaned up before Crosby comes back, so some idiot doesn't take a run at him. Personally I've been disgusted with head shots since Game 2 of the 2008 Final, when Pittsburgh players were punching Franzen in the head his first game back after having a concussion. I think this is similar to when the game came back after the lockout and all those penalties were being called. Everyone adjusted, and I think the same thing will happen with head shots and fighting. We'll all adjust, and the game will be better.

Great game! That's post season Baseball at it's best, and most importantly Tigers are up 2-1 ! I like our chances tomorrow against AJ. If the Tigs have a long run this post season, I don't know how much more I can take watching Valverde pitch the 9th. He takes to much time in between pitches. Santiago too! It's great watching those guys come through.
-
FYI, last season there was a reported, 80 concussions in the NHL regular season, and that's just reported. And that doesn't include playoffs when the intensity is that much higher. They need to do something about head shots because more guys are going to have problems like Crosby is facing now. Plus there's the low quality of life they'll face when their careers are over with all the stress their brain has experienced when they played. I think with all the head shots, parents won't allow their kids to play hockey, and we'll lose out on a generation of great hockey players. Think long term... And that's only big named players. The list probably doubles or triples when you include mid to low level players.

I can't wait for tonight! I'm expecting the Game 3 fans will be the loudest Baseball crowd in Tigers history! There's going to be a lot of "Yankees Suck", "Steriods" (for ARod), "MVP" (for Verlander or Cabrera), and "Cy" chants tonight. Dan Patrick today was saying he thinks the Yankees are going to regret trying to play that game Friday night, and I agree.

If guys are going to start diving to get a player suspended, just call diving penalties. Done and done.

Man that was close, but we tied the series. The Tigs could win this series in 4! The 27 hour Game 1 is a big advantage for us, the Yankees can't use a 3 man rotation. Nova won't be ready until a possible Game 5. I'm looking forward to this series going to Detroit tomorrow and Tuesday. Comerica will be rockin' with Verlander in Game 3. In Game 4 the Yankees will have to use A.J. and his batting practice style pitching. I like our chances to move on to the ALCS! After today's win, it's an advantage for the Tigs.

I'm looking forward to watching this new brand of the NHL once these head shots and fighting is gone. I get a lot of negative votes for being anti-fighting, but I don't mind. There's going to be more focus on skill, than the Canadian and Don Cherry style of being loud mouth goons and thugs. Hockey's going to get better than ever once the players figure out how to hit without giving someone a concussion. Teams will be forced to play Red Wings puck possession style hockey, instead of the Canadian style hockey where Getzlaf, Perry, Pronger, Thornton, Iginla, etc head hunt the skilled Europeans. Edit: Keep up the great work Shanny!

The Yankees are actually my back up Baseball team. I'm a big Jeter and Posada fan. If I wasn't a Detroit fan, New York would be my sports town, well Yankees, Giants, Rangers, and Knicks. But when the Yankees play the Tigers, especially in the playoffs, the Yankees suck!
-
Who's your 4th starter then? Hughes? Or is Girardi going with a 3 man rotation like he did in 2009.
-
Inge should be on the roster, he's been to the World Series before, and probably would be a good guy to have around this time of year to help with team morale. I don't really want to see him hit, just put him in as a defensive replacement for Betemit. I agree Santiago should be the starting 2B. There's enough hitting on the team that Raburn can be the utility guy. Maggs and Dirks should share RF. Maggs can hit against a lefty and Dirks the righty. Penny probably will just be the long man out of the bullpen in a blow out, or a back up for Porcello if he craps the bed. Anyway, I'm pumped for the game tonight! I need to get groceries at Wal-Mart before the game, I'll be wearing my Verlander t-shirt! I think the Yankees pitching staff, despite good stats, have been walking on eggshells all year and could implode! If I was a Yankees fans I would be a little nervous with Nova, A.J., Colon, and Garcia after C.C. It's almost like their patch work 2004 pitching staff of Mussina, Brown, Lieber, Vazquez, and Contreras. It's eerie the similarities, and we all know what happened to the Yankees in 2004. Yankees Suck! Let's Go Tigers!
-
Agreed, Girardi managed it right. Boston has no one to blame but themselves for not holding on to that 9 game lead, just like the 2009 Tigers.
-
I heard a good point about fighting, the NHL should treat it like other sports, you can fight, but you'll get tossed for the rest of the game, maybe more. The game would be better without guys like Chris Neil and Colton Orr.
-
There's not going to be more cheapshots and bad hits now that 5 or more game suspensions being thrown around daily. Watch an OHL game, they have a complete ban on head shots, and the game is fine.
-
If the NHL gets serious about suspensions, which they FINALLY are, they don't need fighting anymore. I'm ok with fighting being banned. If I wanted to watch fighting, I'd watch the UFC.
-
I'm ok with the suspension. Keep up the great work Shanny . It seems like the NHL has finally clued in to how serious concussions are.

The MLB playoffs are my favorite of the big 4 sports. Besides the travel days, I like how they play every night. The NHL drives me crazy when they take the extra day off to get on TV Saturday night, leaving the playoffs to drag on and on and on and on. MLB, just like NFL, has everything done in a month. I'll take the Tigers, Rangers, Phillies, and Brewers in the 1st round, like you did, with the Tigers and Brewers advancing to the World Series. I'm looking forward to 8:37 Friday night, Verlander vs. Sabathia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpFITa9eYoQ

Yea I found out after it was 49. I blame foxsports.com, before I posted that comment after the Tigers won last night, I went over and checked his stats and it said 47. I added 1 more giving him 48. They were two days behind with their stats.
