I think he's out the year, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's it for his career. There's no way I think he can be the same player he once was. Actually I know a guy who plays golf with one of the doctors who looked at Crosby. It wasn't just the concussion, Sid suffered from whiplash as well. It's serious! I don't think it has anything to do with fighting, the game's become to fast when they got rid of all the obstruction post lockout.

I agree with previous comments, the Wings team looks horrible! Good thing it's only for fun. If it was real, we'd have to run GM Hunter out of town! Dude, what were you thinking!? Also, I guess in this mock draft Crosby is concussion free. With the shape he's in right now, there's a few players I'd take before him.

1) Shanahan-Yzerman-________ Shanahan, Yzerman, and fill in the blank. I did like it in the late 90's when McCarty played RW sometimes on the first line. Scotty seemed to only put Fedorov with Shanny and Stevie in the playoffs. Fedorov and Kozlov seemed to work well together, so I like Feds on the 2nd line. 2) Maltby-Draper-McCarty 3) Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom

All in one calender year we've seen Probert, Rypien, and Boogaard die and Crosby's career maybe done, and still no mention by the NHL about eliminating head shots. Someone has to die on the ice before they do something. I understand Rypien's death was due to depression, but getting punched in the head didn't help his situation.

I hope he turns out to be another Cleary or Samuelsson.

I'm the first person to say "Crosby Sucks!", click on my name I even own a shirt, and call him "Cindy", however, I take no joy in saying this, I think Crosby's career is over, or at least like Marc Savard's.

I'll admit, prior to the 2007 playoffs, I wanted Datsyuk to either step it up in the playoffs or traded. Datsyuk was to easy to push off the puck at one time. In the 2006 offseason Pavs hit the gym, gained 20 lbs of muscle, and the rest they say is history. I'm sure Gomez would have put up better numbers in Detroit, and probably would have been a crowd favorite. However, I'm glad the traded didn't happen, Datsyuk hit the gym and turned his career around. Probably Bowman, he was GM and coach for a while.

I think moving teams to Brooklyn is a good idea. I don't live in New York, just been there twice, but is there really that big of a Manhattan vs. Long Island rivalry going on? I think there's more of a Manhattan vs. Brooklyn thing.

I taped it as it happened on VHS. A few years ago when I got a DVD burner, I put it on DVD. An argument with a Leafs fan, what a joke ! What was his argument?
-
Yea that explains it, it's a blog. Also, I don't think journalists know that much either.
-
Yea I thought going into this series, all we need to do is win the Verlander game and we're fine. This weekend we play Baltimore, we should win at least two of those games. Cleveland maybe in tough against Minnesota.
-
I agree. There's to much hockey in the New York area, 3 teams is one to many. Bye bye Islanders. I say they're going to Quebec City.
-
It's like pick your poison eh? I think I'd rather play the Yankees, Boston can hit a ton! It's probably not good to be talking playoffs in early August, but the way the Indians, White Sux, and Twins are playing, it's probably a safe bet.
-
I really like the Fister trade, it gives us 4 very solid starting pitchers for the playoffs. We'll be tough to beat in October.
-
I don't think it's even a guarantee that the Sharks will win their division, watch out for LA! Also you have to think these consistent playoff loses are weighing on them more and more every year.
-
Your key word is "some". We had "some" losing in the playoffs before we won, San Jose's losing has gone on way to long.
-
That works too.
-
Just wanted to point out, we'll have cap room next year for Weber.
-
There's two mistakes people make in the off season every year: 1) they say the Wings are to old and will start their decline, and 2) they pick San Jose to win the Stanley Cup. When will people learn?

Great article about Drapes! http://detnews.com/article/20110727/OPINION03/107270360/1128/rss16 What a great guy! They don't come any better than him.
-
I agree, that Drake trade in 93-94 was brutal!
-
Nice job Lidstrom!

I remembered having message board discussion when Fedorov left, some people were saying he'd get 100 points. I laughed and said he'd be lucky to get 70.
-
I guess that's why there's a debate if Ozzie's a HOF goalie or not. The guy wasn't flashy, he just went out and won games, kind of like Derek Jeter. Back to the man of the hour. Thanks Drapes! It's a sad day. I'll miss you man!

Don't forget Yzerman and Shanny were both injured, and Lapointe took a couple stupid penalties in that series.
