National writer doesn't see Red Wings moving to Eastern Conference
-
Careful what you say, someone will give you a -1 like they did to me for the same reply.
-
I think the only way the Wings move East is if fans stop going to games in general, the team stops being profitable, and they need the big Eastern cities to help make them money. I'm all for taking a stand and voicing your opinion, but I think we need to face facts, the Wings make to much money for the West. The NHL would be stupid to move the Wings East. It makes so much sense (distance, financial, and to keep things simple), for the NHL to move Nashville East, put them in the Southeastern Division, and have Winnipeg in the Northwest, moving Minnesota to the Central. East: Moving Nashville East is almost like just moving Atlanta up the road a bit, with very little change to the Western divisions.

I'm good either way, but I'm leaning Boston.
-
Not to sound like a sap, but I hope you all recorded games over the years like I did so your memories of the players mentioned, and also Yzerman, Shanahan, Fedorov, McCarty, Lapointe, Maltby, etc., will be with you for the rest of your life. 1995-present has been a very special time, I don't think I'll ever be as connected to a team like I have been with the Red Wings, especially with Salary Caps in sports.

It's time to gut the Sharks. Seriously San Jose, enough is enough, Thornton and Marleau should be gone. Edit: San Jose with their size should have walked all over Vancouver.
-
Thanks for the Thornton info, all I saw of Game 4 was the last 10 minutes. I heard a good one today about the amount of Sharks penalties in Game 4. "They were hoping the flasher was at the game". Edit: I would guess there will be extra security by the Sharks penalty box, and more guys ready with their cameras
-
So what happened to Thornton? I was reading something about his shoulder, but he's still playing in Game 5. Rogers Arena will be rockin' tomorrow night! I'll be watching.
-
Nice job Bruins! A Vancouver-Boston Stanley Cup final would work for me, I'd watch it.
-
One more loss and the Beach Boys will be, well, back at the beach.
-
I agree with earlier comments that the Phoenix situation mostly deals with the new hockey only arena in Glendale. The Thrashers share an arena with the Hawks, they won't be missed, the Coyotes will. What a horrible decision by the Coyotes to not continue to share an arena with the Suns.

I heard today about moving Nashville to the Southeast. I think that makes the most sense. Winnipeg could be in the Central, or put Winnipeg in the Northwest, Dallas to the Central, and Colorado to the Pacific. As fun as it would be to have the Wings in the East, it would just be very bad for business.

2 more, Quebec should get the Nordiques back, and Toronto should get another team. I still think it's Columbus.
-
I know Morneau got kneed in the head on a play at 2nd base, I'm not sure how Hill got his.
-
I heard a good line today, Toronto in the early 2000's had the "Muskoka 5", referencing the cottage country north of Toronto, San Jose currently has the "Beach Boys". I'd bet money when San Jose loses Burke is going to try and use those 1st round picks he has to get Thornton and Marleau on the Leafs. He talked about getting them last year. Maybe those guys can do something in the weaker Conference?
-
lol at the Sharks. All the 'nucks need to do is win one game in San Jose and they've punched their ticket to the finals. I just saw Eager taunt Luongo after the goal, this series is over!
-
I missed this when I checked this discussion earlier... Made me laugh, good one! I can separate sports from someone's quality of life, so I wish Crosby all the best in his recovery, but I think the league will be fine if he doesn't come back. There's more than enough talent the league can market to the fans.
-
God Bless you man! Thanks for everything you're doing for all of us over here having fun!
-
It's crazy because the hit on Crosby didn't look that bad, and then I read Cleary was cleared of his concussion today. Cleary's looked much worse! Just one of those things I guess...
-
I hope when San Jose get eliminated again they finally gut the team and rebuild. Either win the Cup or go away, this is getting really annoying. I say this half kidding and half serious, whoever loses this series, Burke will take their players for the Leafs. He's mentioned getting the Sedin's or Thornton and Marleau before and has two first round draft picks to trade this year.
-
I think it's time for Draper to go, he had a strong season, but I'd rather have Mursak or Emmerton out there. Ozzie should go too. If Ericsson turned down $2 Million a season, then bye bye. Is he a RFA or a UFA? I'd like both Miller and Eaves back. I think this quote by Lidstrom means he'll be back next year: By the way, this is post # 5,000 for me here, it took 8 years. By 2019 I'll reach 1,000!

to the first comment. Yea I agree, that's how I feel, just wait and see. However, this has been a long recovery. But then again, in Baseball it took Aaron Hill and Justin Morneau a year to comeback.
-
There's some people in the Toronto media that think Crosby's done. Apparently he's stopped skating because of headaches.
-
Yea, but I see this as a problem for them. I remember before we finally won in 1997 we were saying, "We want Stanley". San Jose fans are saying, "Beat Detroit", they even put it on their rally towels. Add to that, they already beat us last year.
