2/3 of the fans for Games 3 + 4 will be Wings fans, the crowd will be wearing Red!
-
I hope it's the start of something this playoff year, I like that kind of stuff in sports. It's like Yankee fans and their "roll call" in the top of the 1st inning.
-
Great to get the Game 1 win. If Z needs another night off, than we have a lead to play with. I don't see this series being too long. Winnipeg, ooops did it again , I mean Phoenix doesn't have the depth we do, and I think the only reason why last year went 7 games is because we were tired after 3 straight trips to the 3rd round at least. Also, if Howard plays well, like he did tonight, look out, it'll be another couple months of Red Wings hockey in the spring.
-
I've notice that too. What's the deal?
-
This is why Baseball is my favorite sport, there's none of this officiating conspiracy. In Baseball it's either ball, strike, out, safe, fair, or foul. The players effect the outcome, not the officials.
-
Ok we got this. Winnipeg, ooops I mean Phoenix, had their chance. Bettman must be fuming it's only 1-0. Things will start to even out now.
-
Yea you'd think since this is an official feed it should be clear.
-
Come on Bettman, we know you're going to do whatever you can to make Phoenix win, but don't make it so obvious!
-
That's how all the 6-8 seeds play, sit back, ride a hot goalie, and pray for the best. That's what all 6 of them are saying? Seriously, Wings fans will outnumber them in their own building by about 2 to 1.
-
Wings in 6. Playing against Phoenix all 6 games will be home games. Lets Go Red Wings!

Anyone want to discuss calls/no calls/GI going into the playoffs?
Barrie replied to luvpucks's topic in General
I've been noticing lately, it's seems like the League is more concerned with little hooks and holds, getting in someone's way, and accidentally putting the puck over the glass in your own end to call as penalties, than things that can injure a player (punches to the head, sitting on a goalie, hitting someone in the knee). Also I don't trust Bettman at all. I think he's to concerned about parity, saving teams from going bankrupt, has his favorite teams, and is to involved with the outcome of the games. He doesn't seen to let things happen on their own, which is why we watch sports. I'll add, I have no idea how 4 officials missed the high stick on Franzen. -
I'm a big fan of Hockey, Baseball, and Football, and the 2002 WCF against Colorado is my all time favorite playoff series. Wings series I also like are: -1997 WCF vs Colorado -1997 Stanley Cup Final vs. Philly -1995 2nd round vs. SJ -2009 WCF vs. Chicago

The season is almost over, we've just clinched our 20th straight trip to the postseason, 11th straight 100 point season, and (as I type) are only 2 periods away from another division title. Who's your 2010-11 Red Wings team MVP? There's a few choices. Don't laugh that I included Franzen and Cleary, but they both did have over 20 goals, so I think deserve to be on the list.
-
Decent list. Aurie should be higher, and I don't have a problem with Kronwall and Franzen there. They both were big players in the 2007, 2008, and 2009 playoff runs. And I agree with Bring Back The Bruise Bros, Shanny should be higher than Datsyuk, but only for now. Yzerman vs. Howe, flip a coin, you can't go wrong either way for #1. In this point in time though, "The Captain" is the sentimental favorite, so for making Stevie #1. Edit: I'll add, love seeing Holmstrom at #29.
-
He's leading the team in goals, I figured that deserves to be on the ballot. By the way, I changed "Other" to "Helm". I would assume all 9 votes are for him.
-
I figure a vote for "Other" is a vote for Helm. By the way, I voted Z.
-
So far, 4 votes, 4 different players. It'll be close!
-
Add to that a friend was telling me he heard players in Phoenix were saying they don't want to play in Winnipeg. The only thing though, despite Bettman saying how financially well the league is doing, if there's 10 teams in financial trouble and for sale, and no one to buy them, they may have to cut back a few.
-
McCreary has been my favorite ref for years, and the one I trusted the most. It's a shame to see him go. I remember being happy he was one of the refs for Game 7 of the 2009 Final. I knew with him in charge, nothing controversial would happen, like 6 Penguins on the ice for 25 seconds.
-
Agree with both, especially Bettman. Also, I'd be in favor of dropping the league to 26 teams. The only players the league would lose would be the goons. Edit: Again, great profile pic. I was listening to that album in the car tonight. I can't get enough of "Dead End Friends".
-
Agree, there's been to much meaningless hockey the last couple months. FINALLY a game that meant something, and we won, on the road, and when we were down 3-0.
-
After the way we were down 3-0 early, I thought it could be one of those games where we comeback, just to many bad bounces. Things even out after a while. Anyway, great game. I have no doubts we'll be fine come playoffs. This was a first must win game in months and we played great and won!
-
Yup, parity sucks! Edit: I'm sure it's not true, but if so, that would be horrible marketing for the league to do that, considering the Wings are their biggest draw and most popular team. But then again, the League under Bettman has been horrible at marketing.
-
Geeze, enough penalties guys!
-
Oh me of little faith, when Nashville went up 3-0 I thought I'd follow the Tigers-Yankees game. Then I find out the Wings scored 2 quick ones, so I'm back to watching the Wings game.
