    Tatar Re-Signs 4 Years $21.2M ($5.3M AAV)

Yeah, I don't know why we'd want to trade Tatar anyway. The NTC isn't an issue with him. Good more for both sides. $5.3 Million/year is the going rate for a 45-50 point guy.
  4. 1995-96 was a shock, but 2002-03 was even more shocking. I'm sure we all thought a Cup in 2003 was in the bag.

Get Ready for McDavid Hype Machine

I was thinking about the McDavid contract, all this contract does is lead to another lockout. I can't believe the Oilers agreed to it. Contracts for young stars are now going to skyrocket! Just watch, the next CBA, the owners are going to lockout the players so they can have a cap on RFA's.

The problem... Shoot the DAMN PUCK!

I haven't looked into Tippett, so I can't comment on him, but I like Rasmussen too. One thing that stood out to me was he was 3rd in the fitness tests. I think that's a big deal, it means Rasmussen works hard.

Ken Holland "We protected our best goaltender"

Howard last year was better then Mrazek. Like the move or not, it worked out.

The problem... Shoot the DAMN PUCK!

Not to sound sarcastic or start an argument, but who was the best shooter in the draft? Tippett?

    Ken Holland contract extension watch

I could see Devellano retiring, and Holland taking over his job. Yeah, I agree, I don't see Yzerman being the Wings GM. Why risk ruining your reputation in Detroit.

Get Ready for McDavid Hype Machine

I'm all about making money, but what are they going to have to pay Draisaitl when it's his turn to cash in?
  11. It's an alright deal. It'll probably be good to have him around, and he'll probably enjoy the increased ice time here.

Get Ready for McDavid Hype Machine

As mentioned in another discussion, McDavid has every right to be the highest paid player in the league, but not now! The Oilers have a young team and will have to get rid of guys to stay under the cap. As an owner, you'd hope your captain would take a bit of a discount so they can keep their team together. McDavid's contact could be the difference between winning 2 Cups or 4.

    Off-season moves

lol, another lockout. What do those owners want now? No way! It's time to rebuild through the draft.

    Off-season moves

That was the first thing I thought, it's going to make salaries skyrocket for other guys his age! McDavid should be the highest paid player in the game, but not this soon.

    Off-season moves

I heard on the radio today the Oilers are about to make McDavid the highest paid player in the league! $13.5 Million a year for 7 years! Anyone else thinks that's crazy? I know it's McDavid, but he's only in his second year! Should he already be making more then guys like Crosby and Kane?

    2017 Draft

Rasmussen was 3rd in the fitness test of all the players in the draft. I liked hearing that, it means he's willing to work hard.

I don't know, but maybe because he was the biggest guy on the ice?

    2017 Draft

Right. What was one thing we were saying all year about the Wings? We weren't shooting enough. Again, I don't know the skill level of the guys we didn't pick, but guys who shoot the puck first are exciting to watch.

    2017 Draft

Here ya go, some 2016-17 highlights of our guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TicSWmJ_knY I don't watch Jr Hockey, so I can't comment on other guys we passed on, but we can use a forward with size, who isn't afraid of going to the net.

Wings Pursuing Top College Free Agent Spencer Foo

lol, great last name. The DJ at the new arena can have fun with it. If we get Foo, the DJ can play Learn to Fly or Big Me when he scores a goal.

Red Wings Expansion Draft Protected List

Agree. Nosek is 25 next year. Losing a guy 25, who's and only played 17 games in the NHL, isn't much of a loss at all. It's a relief. My guess is Vegas picked from us near the end, and they needed a guy with a low cap hit.

Red Wings Expansion Draft Protected List

As mentioned, I don't think we have to worry about Vegas taking Mrazek. Fleury's cap hit is $5.75 Million, they won't take Mrazek's with a $4 Million. Raanta's cap hit is only $1 Million, and Grubauer, is a RFA, but his cap hit was only $578,000 last year. I'd guess Vegas will take Raanta as their back up. I assume we're going to lose Sheahan or Ouellet.

2017 ECQF: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Washington Capitals

I've mentioned this already in this post. I live south of Toronto in Burlington. I'm self employed, so I'm in the car a lot going to appointments. I was shocked at the lack of Leafs gear I saw during the playoffs when I was out. When the Blue Jays started winning in 2015, there was Blue Jays stuff everywhere! Even today, I saw a lot of Blue Jays gear, and only a couple Leafs caps. I know I'm just one guy looking around, but I think the size and the passion of the Leafs fan base is overrated. Maybe in Toronto there's passion, but in the suburbs, there's not much from what I see. The Leafs have lost a generation of fans, and are considered a joke to a lot of people. Also thanks to corporations driving up the price for their tickets, the average fan could never go to a game. I think the Leafs fan base is mostly over the age of 35, and has to work for a corporation, or make $250,000/year to go to a game. It's too expensive to be a Leafs fan. Babs mentioned the fan base and the passion for the team in his post game comments. He said it was nothing like he's ever seen before. I know he has to say that, but there's no way he saw more passion in Toronto for the Leafs, then he did in Detroit for the Red Wings. Again, I'm not anti-Leafs, I was just shocked at the lack of passion where I live.
