I was thinking this too. Doug McLean said on the radio today that there are a lot of guys that would rather take the weekend break than play. Some players are disappointed when they get picked.
-
I think it's how the League organizes the game more so than the player. The NHL tries to have as many teams represented as possible, leaving a lot of questionable picks. With 30 teams, it doesn't leave much. For what it's worth, today on Hockey Central on Toronto's FAN590, Zetterberg not making the team is a big topic of conversation. Greg Brady (former Detroit radio personality) and Doug McLean (former Red Wings employee and Blue Jackets GM), said no Zetterberg is a glaring, since he's Zetterberg and the 6th highest scorer in the league. I wasn't going to watch anyway, but with all the injuries I'm glad our players will get a rest. I hope Lidstrom says, "nuts to you" and takes a break as well

Say what you want about Ozzie's last couple seasons, but I think this is a big loss. Ozzie was playing well this year.

Me too, I got my ticket!

This is such an interesting statement. After watching Darren and Claude shake hands on OTR a while ago, and thinking about it again today, I was wondering if I should just "let it go". Lemieux crushed Draper's face and instead of apologizing added fuel to the fire the next year saying he made Draper's career, made him another $100,000, and commented on his low goal scoring stats. From what I've read Draper and Lemieux still haven't made amends. Rumor has it Lemieux has tried to call Draper, but Draper hasn't called back (and after the stuff Lemieux said the next season, I don't blame Kris. I don't have time for Lemieux either). Plus Lemieux was one of the biggest cowards in NHL history always picking on guys smaller than him. To each their own, but personally I feel Lemieux's actions, especially what he said about Draper the next season, is unforgivable... For me anyway. Edit: From what I've read too, I don't think Claude have ever thought he did anything wrong.
-
Would it really be a smart move for Lemieux to make a public appearance in the Detroit area? McCarty may have gotten over it, but I would think a vast majority of Red Wings fans haven't.
-
I guess it's my problem too. Lemieux is a scumbag.
-
Yea I think it was a fair call overall. No goal, and no penalty.

6 points on this Western Canadian road trip! Excellent job boys! Great game by Howard! I'm guessing Jimmy's back! I really like how Vancouver plays, no cheap shots or head hunting like those goons in Alberta.
-
What does the chin strap have to do with that hit? Not only did his helmet stay on, but the dude landed face first.
-
Agree. Personally I think players like this should be kicked out of the League. That's the only way to send a message to these no talent cheap shot artists.

That was the same game where Iginla butt ended Schneider in the ribs (gotta watch how I say that ). That was the same game too when Wings fans were chanting "Calgary sucks" I was thinking, I wonder if Colin Campbell is going to call Stuart a "little faker" in an e-mail to a friend? Someone watch his Inbox.

There ya go, born in Mississauga Ontario...

Good for Babs, that would be a fine that's 100% worth it! Just saying "crap" or "garbage" doesn't have the same impact. Edit: I didn't watch, who hit Stuart? Was it another one of those Canadian goons influenced by Don Cherry I've been complaining about the past few years?

As pointed out in the "Do Leaf Fans Deserve Better" discussion, getting a -3 in a 9-3 Leafs win
-
They can watch us from their couches in the playoffs first.

Nice one! I was looking for the clip on youtube, but couldn't find it! It's one of my favorite Simpsons moments!
-
Nope, it's Modano
-
How long until those morons in Calgary blame the injury on Stuart, saying, "He should have had his head up!"?
-
In my best Homer Simpson voice, "Don't you hate pants?"
-
Right, it's a horrible way to end a hockey game, even if we win it.
-
I was following along on cbssports.com, I didn't have it on tv, it was on an extra Calgary station which I couldn't find, oh well. Looks like Howard was shaky at first but settled in. Another great road win, and takes a little pressure off tomorrow's game in Vancouver. We already got 4 points on this Western Canadian trip, so another 1 or 2 points against the 'nucks is a bonus.
-
Yea that was a horrible game. I was actually watching with friends, who aren't Red Wings fans, but Leaf fans. They had no class and actually gave me a hard time when Calgary won that game. Obviously I was crushed about Yzerman, I thought his career was over, and couldn't care less about the loss. After that game I decided I'll never watch a Red Wings game with someone who isn't a Red Wings fan. Also it proved that Leaf fans suck!! Edit: I've never forgotten that night...

Just as long as he's playing March 21st at The Joe, I got tickets and looking forward to around round of the "Crosby Sucks" chant.

Looks like fun! That's one of the great parts of being part of a team, being able to hang out and goof off!
