Sports has always been about money. The owners were so corrupt a generation ago. I heard on the radio today since the Blue Jays won their first of back to back World Series in 1992 and 1993, there's only been two teams that haven't made the playoffs (KC and Montreal/Washington). Baseball, without a Salary Cap and only 8 teams making the playoffs, has the most parity in the big 4 sports! Selig has no reason to make any changes. His teams strive to win instead of just finishing 8th in their Conference. Also a team with a $60 Million payroll just beat one with $200+ Million! I'm sure Texas fans are very satisfied they beat the Yankees, just like us Tiger fans when we beat them in 2006 (one of my favorite Baseball moments).

I hope not, Lilja should get a hand the first time he touches the puck. There's no reason at all to boo him! I'm sure the guys will be happy to see him too.

Unless they forget about me, this will be the last Wings game I get to watch with the free preview of NHL Center Ice. I'm not ordering it, they're saying it's only $159/year, but I'm sure they'll be add on after add on, and the price will more than double. What I don't get is how I can get HD without the HD box in the preview, and if I want HD I'll have to get the box, so screw 'em! Anyway, I say 5-2 Wings, and those cry baby Canadians, Getzlaf and Perry, will take runs at our Europeans, especially Datsyuk! Please watch out Dats, or just embarrass Perry again!

Yea we haven't had a rivalry with Dallas, and Colorado, for years! When we played them in the 2008 it was like, "Oh yea, those guys". Anaheim, Pittsburgh, and Calgary are the games I'm mostly pumped up for now.

MLB will never get a salary cap because the Yankees and Red Sox don't want one, which is fine with me. I've read about the current CBA in MLB, and all 30 teams make money under the current system. The Yankees and Red Sox pay a lot of money into the Luxury Tax, and national TV and mlb.com money is split evenly between all 30 teams. Teams like Pittsburgh and KC don't want to be told how much they have to pay in team salary, because it'll eliminate their profits. Baseball teams would rather base their team salary on what they bring in, not what the entire League brings in. Also putting in a Salary Cap and parity in MLB could hurt the national TV contract with bad playoff match ups, lowering the TV revenue. If the national TV money goes down, MLB will have to be more like the NHL and be a gate driven league and risk being on a low rated TV station like Verses, something they don't want. I live outside Toronto so I hear many Blue Jays fans complain about no Salary Cap in MLB, so I've looked into it .

Yea I laughed about that one. She's a Dallas Stars fan, they've only had a team since 1993-94! We're from the Original 6! Oh well I'd rather be hated than liked, similar to what I posted in the comments.

I wonder if the mass amount of Red Wings fans, I've seen polls that 10% of American hockey fans are Wings fans, are effecting the voting. Out of that list, I too would take Lundqvist, then Howard second. Brodeur can't win a playoff series anymore, and Kipper and Luongo can't win in the playoffs either. Also Luongo takes to much cap space. As some already mentioned, I would have picked Miller if he was on the list. I guess I should pick "Other".

Hey a Championship is a Championship. You know what though, that year there was more bought teams than ours (Rangers, Leafs, and Flyers). Plus most of our talent came through the farm system.

Recent history yes, but the Cowboys have won the 5 Superbowls, second most all-time, and their 1992-1995 teams could have been the best Dynasty in NFL history.

I get the hate for the Hockeytown USA trademark, but Detroit is Hockeytown USA. For 10 years, mid 90's to mid 00's, the Red Wings were the most popular team in the city, and they still maybe are, although the Tigers have been huge since 2006. How many American cities can say the hockey team is #1 in the city?
