Has anyone sat in section M4 at LCA? The usher that works in that section is great! He gets involved, yells at the team like the rest of us. He also fist bumps everyone before periods start, and after Red Wings goals.

Here we go again, "Florida is a non tax State, so they have an unfair advantage"
Barrie posted a topic in General
Living in Canada is very interesting, a Florida team has made it to the Cup Final 5 years in a row, and Canadian hoceky fans are complaining, again, about Florida being a non tax State. They think since Canadians pay high taxes, their hockey teams should have a higher cap ceiling than teams like Florida or Tampa. There's never any mention about Dubas giving Toronto's 4 top forwards whatever they wanted, leaving no money for the Defence. If the League decided to give a higher cap ceiling to teams in high taxed areas, the teams in California, New York, and Illinois would be allowed to spend more too. These Canadian hockey fans don't seem to understand what they're complaining about. I do remember a team in Illinois winning 3 Stanley Cups in 6 years not too long ago, in their high taxed State. The Blackhawks did very well, despite their huge disadvantage, ha Canadians, ugh! And I say that as a Canadian. -
The Leafs did it again. They played well in Games 5, 6, and 7, watch them say, "we're so close", AGAIN, and not make any major changes. Plus I don't think trading Marner is going to be easy. Mitch would have to agree to a cut in pay when he signs his next contract, with another team. No team, other than Toronto, will give him more money.

The Leafs are annoying. Do something, or go away! Seriously, enough already! Any other market, the Core 4 would have been run out of town after losing to Montreal. These playoff losses are humiliating. When you go on social media, Leafs fans seem to be the generation who were given participation trophies. They're always talking about the Leafs "haters", and defending their team/players. There's not enough pressure to win in Toronto. Detroit, Philly, New York, Boston, etc. wouldn't put up with this. I'm shocked the fans in Toronto aren't livid.

I think that's it for me. If the Wings want to make a comeback, I'll see the highlights tomorrow. These announcers that over react, I can't take it! When you play sports, like I have for years, you need keep your emotions in check, and not get anxious

3 people calling the game is awful! When something happens, all 3 need to say something about it. It's like, "Ok, ok, I get it. Shut up!" Sunday was bad too with Ferraro Anyway, good 1st period on the road, tied 2-2, and 16-15 are the shots

I've been a Wings fan since 1989, so I saw the entire 25 year playoff run, but this is awesome! I love this team. The top seeds better be getting nervous, I wouldn't want to play the Red Wings in the playoffs

I agree, and I'm Canadian

When Leafs fans ask on social media why Matthews doesn't get respect, if you answer, "He needs to win a Cup", they get mad and insult you Ok fine, don't win a Cup -

Yeah, I'm ok with a fight. What Greig did wasn't that smart, but what's being over looked in Toronto is the fact that the Leafs lost to Ottawa. Sports is emotional, but there's times to keep emotions in check. Now the Leafs best defenseman is suspended, while their in a tight race for a Wild Card. Let's see if the Wings can take advantage. Yeah, that's what's being overlooked, the Leafs lost to last place Ottawa. -

I was just thinking about Walman doing the Griddy after scoring in OT, would Toronto cry about that too? There could be a unwritten rule about celebrating too much Toronto may cry about our new Goal Horn too. La la la la la -

Tavares gets booed in New York, and an Ottawa player takes a slap shot into an empty net with only seconds left on the clock, and Toronto cries like a bunch of babies. Soft. No one was physically hurt. The only thing hurt was Toronto's ego. Seriously if Toronto can't handle it, they should probably stop playing and watching hockey. Remember in that old timers game Wings-Leafs, when Draper scored on a slap shot to win the game? The old Leafs and Leafs fans cried about that one too. Toronto's soft -

I guess the latest from Maple Leafs fans is Connor McDavid is going to sign in Toronto when he becomes a UFA. I was called tool, when I said that won't happen. I guess it'll work because Tavares and Marner off the books soon. McDavid will want $15 Million a year. I guess Leafs fans learned nothing the past 7 years paying 4 forwards $40 Million? They think paying 3 forwards $40 Million will win them a Cup? It's very difficult to have a reasonable hockey conversation in the Toronto market, Leafs fans are just plain stupid -
Great game by the Wings last night on defense. The Laffs "core 4" didn't have any time to make plays in our end. I'm seeing some comments from Leafs fans that thier team was lazy last night. No, I think the Wings are on par with the Leafs now. We have better defensemen, and stronger 3rd and 4th lines. The Leafs are a 3rd, 4th, or 5th place team in the Division, and so are we. Leafs fans still think they're Cup contendors. No, that window closed last year.

As one of the Toronto area Red Wings fan on the board, here's my thoughts on the Nylander contract... I'm not surprised by the number. Based on what Matthews, Tavares, and Marner are making, I figured Nylander would want the same. So the Leafs have Matthews at $13.5 Million, and now Nylander $11.5 Million, the key now is what do the do with Tavares and Marner. If they bring back Tavares and Marner, they're INSANE. I'm hearing media people say Tavares needs to take a team friendly contract, and then sign Marner. I personally would let both Tavares and Marner go. Marner's going to want $12.5 Million. Sure fans will probably want to kill me, but the Leafs have to free up money. The need more depth, and they need to spend more money on defense and a goalie. I don't think trading Marner is worth it, because I'd have to get similar salary back. What the Leafs need is to free up money. -
I can get us back on topic, ha. Great move by Yzerman. I was all in on Kane, IF he signed 1 year, so I'm very happy We should make the playoffs as a Wild Card, now. On paper we have the 4th best team in the Division, behind Boston, Florida, and Tampa. Yes, I know I'm saying we have a better team than the Leafs. We do! The Leafs D sucks, and they're a mess.

I just have to comment on the new goal horn with the end of Without Me. It's a sound a 7 year old would make when he or she is trying to annoy their older sibling. I love it!
-
Yeah too bad you only heard it twice. I was able to hear it 6 times vs. Columbus, 5 goals and after the final horn sounded.
-
Yeah, the main issue is the goalies, but we knew that going into the season
-
Fun game, I was there. My first Wings game since 2017-18. I'll be back April 7th vs. Buffalo 8-5-2 is a total disaster?

Leaf fans are very unhappy with Domi and Bertuzzi. I really don't know what they were expecting. They thought they'd come in and be physical, tough, etc., but they're not those type of players. They're more annoying to play against, like a Draper Maltby type. They don't have the size to play a physical game. Plus they're only playing 13-15 minutes a game. The Leafs, who continue to refuse to address their problems on D, instead bring in forwards, are being left behind.

Big win tonight, after being down 2-0. It's a different team this year. In the past down 2-0, we would have just given up and lost 5-1. -
I think the Wings are going to surprise a lot of people this year. The people I listen too, other than Damien Cox, no one is mentioning the Wings. All 4 forward lines, and 3 defensive lines are solid. With Boston, Tampa, and Toronto, all on the decline, the Wings will be fighting for a playoff spot. If the Wings start out strong, you'll hear members of the media say, "Uh yeah, yeah, I knew the Wings improved in the offseason". I like to talk about the Leafs, but even with a new GM, they still don't understand they need defensemen. They keep talking about grit, but with all that skill, they need another puck moving defenseman to get the puck to Matthews and Marner, and play big minutes. Bertuzzi and Domi aren't the answer. I don't know what fans are expecting from those two. They really aren't big guys. Anyway it's better to not have attention going into the season. Buffalo and Ottawa have the pressure, the Wings can start the season loose, and ready.

I think things have turned out ok.
