still not gonna happen. I was agreeing with you...

    Scott Gomez

Don't forget that part of the cap trouble is due to Mogilny's contract (it was the one that actually put them over) Mogilny played very well with Gomez previously and the two have been on a line together this year and appear to still have 'it'

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

The Illini barely beat Rutgers and were losing most of the game...they are a pathetic excuse for Big Ten team. Michigan slaughtered Eastern...so what? and yes, Michigan has gone 2-4 in their last 6 games...but each of those losses was close, and aside from a couple calls I've already mentioned, a couple should have been even closer.

    Grigorenko

Link? Link New CBA has ended the "forever and ever" rights to Euros. Holland might have an interesting negotiation with Grigorenko this spring/summer. Grigorenko will be an entry level player...his potential salary is capped. The most he could possibly make is on the order of 5.5-6m for three years after bonuses are included.

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

Michigan under Lloyd Carr is.... 4-9: Michigan's combined record against Ohio State, Notre Dame, Iowa and in bowl games going back to 2002. 5-5: Bowl Record 3-4: Record against Notre Dame 0-2: Record against Big 12 including Bowl Games 1-2: Record in Rose Bowl 5-5: Record against Ohio State 3-4: Record against Pac 10 This pretty much sums up a pretty AVERAGE coach. However, at Michigan....the most winningest college football program, is average enough. http://www.firelloydcarr.us/ Lloyd Carr is the best head coach Michigan has had since Fielding Yost. Seriously...how many head coaches have had a national championship since 1995? How many coaches have gone to a bowl game every year they've been a head coach? How many can claim that every signle one of their former starting quarterbacks has gone on to the NFL, including Tom Brady, who has been named Super Bowl MVP how many times now?

McGrath lighting the OHL on fire

Shocker! Oh wait, McGrath was ready to be AHL bound but their already uber-stocked with AHL havnots and wastful prospects. McGrath can't go to the AHL yet...he's only 19. A junior player may not be placed in the AHL instead of beign returned to his junior club.

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

I think Carr is ridiculously underrated. This is the first time in seven years Michigan has been unranked, and only the fifth time ever under Lloyd Carr (the previous four were all in the 1998 season in which they were Big Ten champions). Michigan has been top ten 63 times under Carr. Carr came into the season at 95-26, meaning he's averaged better than nine wins per season. Carr is one of only eight coaches to EVER win five big ten championships, one of only three at Michigan. Carr has never not gone to a bowl game with Michigan. Carr's teams are 63-18 in Big Ten play and he is the active leader in Big Ten victories. Yet somehow, he gets no credit as the great coach that he is, and if Michigan even so much as stumbles, Michigan fans and non-fans alike are "Fire Carr!" Wtf?

    Who would you want back

Yup.....get Sergei "back'? For what a week? Gimme Pavel and 2 solid yrs. Save me a few months of drama - the other choices are a solid 'no thanks'. I don't quite follow. You must be thinking of Hasek....he's the only Wing in recent memory who was done after basically a week....

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

final poll of 1997 is all you need as proof of Michigan getting the shaft in the polls sometimes. But I agree...I also wonder how Michigan can not move in the polls after clobbering Eastern 55-0...Notre Dame fell behind, but Cal moved ahead for fighting to beat Illinois 35-20...the same Illinois that nearly lost to RUTGERS, and would one week later get DESTROYED by MSU? Michigan has always gotten the shaft in the polls...lose and they drop a dozen, win and they sometimes drop--a year or two back Michigan opened up with a few wins and steadily DROPPED while WINNING. Can you say wtf?

McGrath lighting the OHL on fire

Kindl will have a fine season. He's on pace for 40+ points, which is a solid year. This guy was playing in the top Czech men's league at 15 and not looking out of place. That's the equivalent of a 15 year old playing in the AHL (about level with the Czech league)...that has to say something about his skill level.

    Stanton Strikes again

no doubt. I have talked to a few other michigan football fans. They act like they don't even watch football anymore. Can any true blue michigan fan come forward and say they will support the team, even when its down in the dumps like this?? Or can anyone tell me what is happening to Michigan this year?? what's happening is A. They've been hit by some pretty significant injuries (Hart, plus most of the offensive line were out against ND) B. A lot of bad calls have gone against Michigan. In the ND game Henne scored an obvious touchdown, but it was spotted at the 1. The next play featured a botched snap, Henne dove on the ball, and ND recovered. In the Wisconsin game, the Bagers' first passt play was intercepted, but the reciver pulled the ball out of the Michigan player's hands on the ground. Ruling? Completion. Wisconsin QB fumbled the ball and Michigan recovered, but the ruling (non replay, of course) said that there was no fumble.

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

what about the year that michigan state had burke and burress, the year michigan state went to the citrus bowl against florida. I know the year of the "chuck it to duckett" or to michigan fans, "the last seconds that lasted forever", the wolverines had a better record but it was close. lol i remember that...what a gyp. "botched" clock work cost UM a chance at the national title.

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

Michigan is 2 - 2 right now. They have effectively ended their season, a chance at the Rose Bowl, their chance at a big BCS Bowl isn't going to be good. They already have major problems. But keep drinking the yellow and blue kool-aide. If Michigan beats Michigan State, the teams are tied in Big Ten standings, and the tiebreaker for h2h would go to the Wolverines. If Michigan wins out, only Wisconsin has a chance to beat them, and Wisconsin still has to play Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, all of whom could beat them.

    Who would you want back

Stop putting words in my mouth. I didn't say he was going to a tenth of the player Federov was. All I'm saying is I'de rather sign youth than a used up player on the decline. Federov was dominant when he wanted to be. He WAS great, fantastic, and his s**t didn't stink. Now he's old and getting older. If it's a "Who would you want back in their prime" I would choose Federov. But it's not. Christ, why is it so hard for people to move on? The problem is...Fedorov is still better than Datsyuk. Fedorov is also signed through 08, while Dats is only through 07. Datsyuk is interested in leaving at the end of the deal. You'd rather take the less capable player for a shorter period of time? Now THAT'S silliness. true, fedorov would NEVER leave the wings... Even if Fedorov leaves after the deal..he's still around for a year longer than Datsyuk. 3 years of Fedorov>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2 years of Datsyuk

    Who would you want back

hm... wouldnt happen to have seen last years playoff stats for cujo and osgood would you?? min. W L T GA GAA SOG S % ENG SO 287:05 1 4 0 12 2.51 109 97 .890 0 0 min. W L T GA GAA SOG S % ENG SO 517:34 4 4 0 12 1.39 197 185 .939 0 2 ok.. cujo has more wins, more games played, same goals allowed, lower GAA more SOG and S with a better save percentage, and also, cujo had to shut outs. so in the playoffs, where it matters most, who really puts up the stats?? CUJO Osgood was playing for a much worse team against a much more offensively capable team. He played out of his mind and barely kept the scores from getting silly...the Blues were just that outmatched.

    Michigan Fans Confessional

In two losses they have had two touchdowns not credited...and that would have been the difference. I was pissed early in tonight's game...Michigan intercepts the ball? it's a completion. Michigan recovers a fumble? Fumble never happened. Michigan player gets into the end zone? Stopped at the one. Even the TD call can go the way it did..but the others were huge--instead of getting a fumble recovery on the Wisc 30, they got a punt return on the Mich 5. Still, wasn't as bad as the ND missed touchdown. That one basically decided the game.

You'd take Darren McCarty's for 40 games over Sergei Fedorov for 80?

    Grigorenko

As far as lineups go, how about this for 06-07.... Hudler/Lang/Shanahan Williams/Datsyuk/Grigorenko Filppula/Zetterberg/Holmstrom Maltby/Draper/Franzen Bootland Lidstrom/Fischer Schneider/Kronwall Delmore/Lilja Meech Osgood Howard Hey I like those lines you made up... but could we replace Delmore? Maybe with a guy with a little bit of mean streak in the corners and in front of the net? I picked Delmore because I doubt Rivers will be kept around past this season, Delmore has plenty of skill, and picking from the young guys gets too messy, and Delmore is better than any of our NHL-ready/near-ready prospects at this point. I wouldn't be shocked if he were instead replaced by a free agent, though.

    Grigorenko

Before his injury he was considered a comparable prospect to Kovalchuk...if he's back to that level of skating, that's wonderful. His production in the RSL is even with Kovalchuk's as of last check, and his defensive game has only improved since he returned from the injury (relative to pre-injury) If he's made as strong a recovery as some of this suggests....he might make the jump and be BETTER than Kovalchuk....

Who on the Wings will have a breakout season?

Zetterberg, Kronwall, Williams, Fischer will all have breakout seasons. Possibly Datsyuk too, depends on whether you consider last season 'breakout' because it's difficult to have two in a row ya know.

    Who would you want back

So you'de rather sign an overpaid senior citizen then pay Datsyuk the same thing? Even if Dats is here for 2 years, trade him towards the end of his contract, and he'll get more return then Federov ever hoped to. And no Federov wouldn't take a pay cut to come play for the wings. Future is where were headed, not the past. I'd take Fedorov for one year over Datsyuk for three or four. Because Fedorov has the ability to win his team a playoff series. the Wings might win more in the playoffs that one year with Feds than the 3-4 with Dats.
  24. eva unit zero

    Who would you want back

Fedorov has 5 years left...but they would all be with us if we got him back. Datsyuk will likely be gone after 2 if he actuallly does come back this season. Doesn't matter how young you are if you're gone in a couple seasons.

    Joseph Harrington is HORRIBLE

And they haven't had an O-line in at least the nearly 2 decades I've been watching them. Even through the 90s they were drafting linemen every year with their top pick and got crap. Imagine if they had used those picks on skill players and then traded for or signed established linemen? Maybe Sanders wouldn't have left. If the team had an O-line that was worth a damn..he probably would have posted 3000 yards in a season.
