Southeast or perhaps Pacific.

Again, why would the sabres get rid of a proven playoff performer and leader of Druy's calibre for Datsyuk's horrendous playoff skills? To get TO the playoffs...Datsyuk would be better for them. Since Hasek left, Buffalo has not made the playoffs.

Hockeysfuture doesn't know what they are talking about half the time. Swedish experts considered Henrik Zetterberg better than the Sedins on draft day, yet the Sedins both got 8+ ratings right away and Zetterberg got a 6.5 rating. After winning the Elitserien rookie of the year the next year, Henrik jumped to an 8.5 rating. Makes you wonder how much they even actually look at a player, or if it's just 'what league is he is? what are his stats?'

Don't count on it. Because as good as Manny is, Osgood is way better.
-
Could also be Malakhov. Although Malakhov signed in Jersey, so that's the same situation as Schneider.

More Eklund: Wings in Bondra, Hamrlik talks?
eva unit zero replied to phantom5251's topic in General
Eklund is a Philly fan, he doesn't know about teams not putting themselves over the cap. He's probably assuming the Wings would trade Lidstrom to make room for Hamrlik... -
Robinson has speed, but that's all he has. Guy has stone hands and a poor attitude. Kopecky has more talent than the other three put together. he has just had a couple injuries the past two years that have kept him out of games and out of top playing condition. Bootland is a solid player, but he needs to improve his defense. Groulx was a longshot to begin with.

Kronwall is #4. -
Why not sign Andreychuk? Or bring back Dino.
-
Lindros can do that too..and Lindros had a strong season last year while Leclair continued to get worse.
-
Lindros is the best player on the list and the least likely to suffer from his past injuries....
-
Not for lack of trying...Forsberg wanted two big money years...Colorado would have hade to give upHejduk and Tanguay to do it. Lacroix offered a 4 year, 13.5m deal that was backloaded and Forsberg turned it down.

Frolov and Cammelleri.

New Jersey has a solid roster, and they added a couple of decent defenseman to replace Niedermayer and Stevens. I picked Ottawa. The only significant change the team has made since 03-04 is to go out and get Hasek to replace Lalime, and to lose Prusek. That's not an upgrade, as Hasek will likely miss most of the season.

Kiprusoff wasn't a ten year veteran last season. In fact, he had played part of one season as the backup goaltender.

For once it would be worth giving up a first pick, even though other teams could probably outbid that. Osgood is cheap and reliable in the regular season, that's about it. I'd rather take a chance on Thibault who could give Detroit a legitimate shot at getting past the first round. His potential is much higher than Osgood's IMO. Getting past the first round? That would require Thibault to match his career playoff wins number in one series. Dude is 4-11 in the postseason. He won one game in 95, two in 96, and one in 02. He was held decisionless in 98 (with a 5.58 GAA and .800 sv pct!!!) and had three losses in 97. His career playoff numbers are: 4-11, 3.57 GAA, .900 sv pct, 0 SO. Osgood, by comparison, is 44-33, 2.22, .916, with 10 SO. Osgood also has won playoff series before. Thibault has not. Give it up.

I think we all agree here.
-
The "He's not Osgood, let's get him" stuff is getting ridiculous. Osgood is cheaper than Dafoe, better, doesn't have the injury problems or consistency issues Dafoe does, and unlike Dafoe Osgood has proven he can excel behind a terrible defense. He was real good starter? Yeah, Osgood IS real good starter. That's like the Wings signing John Leclair to 5m/yr and hoping he scores 50 goals.
-
And give up what? Thibault costs more, so it hurts the Wings' chances at signing toughness or retaining Datsyuk. Thibault is worth maybe a late round pick if he's healthy. Osgood comes cheaper, doesn't cost picks or players. Osgood IS also better.

No... Chelios 850k Williams 450k Datsyuk 2.5 Zetterberg 2.5 6.3m no way that would ever happen What I heard a few days ago is that the salary is not the issue, it's the contract length, and that Datsyuk wants 2.5 for two years, while Holland wants to get 3 or 4. Zetterberg shouldn't be paid more than Dats (He's been in the league a shorter time and has not posted the numbers Datsyuk has.), so 2.5 is the most he'd get.
-
If Datsyuk wants to sit in Russia we need to think seriously about trading him. He's UFA next year and we'll lose him for nothing. Dats s not a UFA until 2007.
-
Tampa will probably sign Joseph if Pittsburgh doesn't.

Big comparison to Datsyuk and Kariya playing along side Selanne for how many years. You guys will just keep on coming up with the stupidest ways of putting Datsyuk down but its a "great signing" if Karyia is had for $4.5 mill a season. Its great that Berard and Foote make over $4 mill and hell its amazing that Lidstrom makes $7 mill a season but Datsyuk, oh no can't happen, $2.5 mill our trade. Lidstrom, Kariya, and Foote have all been stars in the league for 10+ years. Lidstrom is the best player in the league. Datsyuk doesn't compare and his salary should not even be mentioned in the discussions. Robert Lang, who has performed significantly better than Datsyuk, is making 3.8m and is playing on a line ahead of Datsyuk. That is the salary that should be worked off of, not Kariya's. How does Dats compare to Lang?
