Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread
eva unit zero replied to Cruiser008's topic in Other Sports
Wrong... The Suns suck and everyone that knows basketball knew it...they're finally getting exposed cuz they're playing a decent team... The Heat are for real...the Spurs are for real...the Pistons are for real. Difference? The Pistons are play DUMB AS ***! They're losing their cool. Everyone once in a while, this team loses their cool...it happened a few times in the regular season against lesser teams like Memphis and Charlotte. Now is NOT the time to lapse... But they're lapsing... Teams JUST DON'T shoot 50+ percent from the field unless you're fuking up. Plain and simple. There's not ONE team in the ENTIRE NBA that should shoot better than 50% against ANY other team in the NBA. But it happened to the Pistons. LACK OF EFFORT. It has NOTHING to do with the Heat or what they're doing. They're just not getting in peoples faces. It's INEXCUSABLE. Losing your composure with the refs...also INEXCUSABLE. They're veterans...they're a championship club...they should know better than to flip out on the refs during the playoffs. The free throw shooting...well, as much as it upset me, it IS excusable. Bad free throwing shooting happens to EVERY team from time to time...even during the playoffs. The Suns don't suck, they just don't know what defence is. They play a system that shows their strength. Scoring. Detroit does the opposite. I can't see Phoenix coming back in this series but everyone, and I mean everyone has changed their tune a little bit towards the outcome. I haven't. I've been throughly and unwaveringly convinced of a Spurs/Pistons final since December. The Spurs are the only team I think has the ability to take 4 from Detroit. Even with the current standings vs Miami, I still think that. Detroit will walk out of Miami with a 3-2 lead and close it out at the Palace. -
uh Dipietro kinda has bub. He's been doing pretty damn good for backstopping such a sh*thole team. And Miller hasn't really been given much of a shot....more of head games. They've treated him as the "you'll be the starter soon" on one hand and "you're third string, get back in the minors" on the other. But the way Miller's playing in the AHL this year...they don't really have much of a choice when the NHL comes back. Goalies need time to adapt. The Islanders have been taking it slow with DiPietro and so should the Red Wings with Howard. Most top prospect goalies will need at least 4-5 seasons before they pan out. Look at Theodore, Thibault and Giguere for example. lol@Thibault.... Thibault has yet to pan out Look beyond his stats for a minute. He's a good goalie on a poor team. The following are the fourteen best goalies currently on the non-playoff teams from 2004. Roberto Luongo Jean-Sebastien Giguere Roman Cechmanek Dwayne Roloson Marc Denis Jamie McLennan Martin Gerber Martin Biron Ryan Miller Kevin Weekes Brian Boucher Manny Fernandez Kari Lehtonen Mathieu Garon According to what criteria? Lehtonen, Miller, Gerber and Garon are yet to prove themselves as starting goalies. What have Weekes, Chechmanek, McLennan and Boucher done? Their stats are comparable to Thibaults. Especially when considering Chicago has one of the worst defenses in the league. Only once has Cechmanek's save percentage been under .920. Only once has his GAA been over 2.05 His career numbers are 2.08 and .919 Thibault has never hit either of those marks in any SINGLE SEASON. Cechmanek is WAY better than Thibault. He had a bit of a down year (for him) last season. But his GAA two seasons ago was 1.83. Weekes' numbers are a bit closer to Thibault. But Thibault's teams have been significantly better. Weekes' teams have only made the playoffs once in seven seasons, where Thibault's teams have gone 5 of ten seasons. This is due more to the offense than anything, but as we know, a good offense does take pressure off the goalie. Also, the list was about what goalies were better. Not who was the better starter. Just because some teams go two deep with guys more skilled than Thibault doesn't mean they have proven themselves as starters. Hell, I don't think there's much argument on here that Legace is better than Thibault, but he hasn't really proven himself as a starter.

Pistons will pull it out. I was more worried in the Pacers series than I am now, because the Pacers had emotional ties. The Heat are just playing on ability right now, and the Pistons are going to kick it in gear. They should play Hunter more though, he was very effective on Wade. plus, Rip is hurt so he's not going to be as effective. -
How about all Russian Wings get a chauffer who actually has a license?

The Pistons need more points from Ben. He has scored like 16 in the last three games after averaging almost that much. -

McDyess is having a great game off the bench. Sheed is having a monster game...guarantees are good. Kinda surprised at the early minutes Arroyo got though. Wasn't really expecting that. -
