Positive Signs for The Wings in These Playoffs
eva unit zero replied to Mabuhay Red Wings's topic in General
No; he said they're the only team that can challenge the Wings. Then he went on the pick the Wings for the Cup. There was no "Detroit over Boston" or "Boston makes the Finals" in there. -
1 goal on a brilliant individual effort, 2 assists on key setup plays, several significant defensive plays, consistent physical play, grinding, going to the net. Only held pointless in Game 2, where he played under 9 minutes. But yeah, let's drop him for Modano, who had a second assist for a lucky chip to Homer in the defensive zone that resulted in a two-man rush of Dats and Homer to the other end, with Modano sort of skating along watching.
-
You have to actually want to win, also; a la Derek Meech. I'm not convinced at this point by Modano's typical performance that he actually gives a s*** about the result. He had a few good games, which happened to be sparked by Mr. Abdelkader playing well, and otherwise has been "I'll go skate my shift now...not that it matters."

We can start by determining that some combination of Draper/Helm/Eaves/Miller will be the fourth line, and the loser is out. So let's go with the top nine. With ZDH together, it pretty much has to be this for the lineup: Zetterberg/Datsyuk/Holmstrom Franzen/Filppula/Hudler Cleary/Abdelkader/Bertuzzi That lineup is strong and deep; the Abby line has been playing well and is as good a third line as any has been in the league for years. But perhaps it would be better to split Dats and Z up; putting the question out of "Where does Flip go?" and here is my answer, and a lineup I like is: Hudler/Datsyuk/Cleary Filppula/Zetterberg/Holmstrom Franzen/Abdelkader/Bertuzzi Which line do you put your best defensive players against? Zetterberg? Datsyuk? Franzen? Perhaps you swap Bertuzzi for Filppula, and make the third line Franzen/Filppula/Abdelkader. Quite unnerving the kind of lineup that can be formed, if you actually bother spreading out the Wings' offense across three lines.

You do realize that, if Laviolette would just stop ******* around with his goaltending, he HAS a solid netminder with good history in the regular season and playoffs? Boucher has a .935% and 2.12 GAA right now, with 3 wins. He was the team's starter last year until he went out with injury, and he played better than Leighton. He has carried the Flyers deep into the playoffs before that. And beyond that; the Flyers have Bobrovsky and Leighton signed for next season for a total of close to $3.5m. Boucher's deal is under $1m. If they sign Bryzgalov, what happens? More of the three-headed monster, with a $4m raise and much worse playoff performance? Note: If Osgood ends up retiring this summer, and Holland signs a vet backup, Boucher is definitely on my short list.

Pitkanen is my first choice of UFA defensemen, followed by Ehrhoff. Given the cap space available I would do this if possible: If Lidstrom re-signs: Re-sign Lidstrom, Ericsson, Eaves and Miller, promote Emmerton and Mursak, sign Pitkanen and Ehrhoff to replace Salei. Trade Stuart for a physical top-six forward. Lidstrom/Ehrhoff Kronwall/Ericsson Pitkanen/Rafalski Kindl If Lidstrom retires: Re-sign Ericsson, Eaves and Miller, promote Emmerton and Mursak, sign Pitkanen, Ehrhoff, and Kaberle to replace Lidstrom, Salei. Trade Stuart for a physical top-six forward. Kronwall/Ericsson Pitkanen/Rafalski Kaberle/Ehrhoff Kindl
-
It's actually closer to 98%.
-
My top ten, in order: Datsyuk (voted) Kronwall Howard Lidstrom Helm Filppula Hudler Franzen Cleary Rafalski

Tampa is probably the best destination for Bryzgalov. With the Ellis trade earlier this season, Yzerman has no goaltender signed for next season. Roloson certainly hasn't retired, but he doesn't have much time left. Bryzgalov is in his prime and is one of the league's best goalies, but Tampa could pick him up pretty much unopposed.
-
What is this board's obsession with Conklin? He's a decent goaltender, and did well in his time here, but he's nothing special and he's not coming back.
-
When talking about beards, you have to include Jamie Macoun.
-
Bryzgalov doesn't want to go to Winnipeg; if he leaves Phoenix (regardless of whether the team moves) he may end up on the Isles, in New Jersey if Brodeur decides to retire, or perhaps on the Lightning. If the Yotes move back to Winnipeg, who wants to bet on a trade that sees Khabibulin move back to the Jets?

Who Does Zetterberg Play With If He Comes Back?

Yeah, especially when those guys were out with Bob Rowse and Jamey McKowin. -
WCQF Game 4 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Coyotes 3
eva unit zero replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
He was just as shaky all season long. People here were just focusing on things like Howard's poor play, Hudler's slump, Datsyuk's injury, etc. and so Stuart slipped under the radar. But now most of the team is playing very well, so he doesn't look so solid anymore. -

Well, we could play Anaheim next round and then Vancouver, San Jose or Los Angeles. -
First playoff match-up set: Caps vs. Rangers
eva unit zero replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Rangers PK saved Lundqvist's bacon on that one. -
The seats at Michigan Stadium are wider now than they were a few years ago. It's true that for a few years they were just constantly trying to pack seats on, but in the recent renovation they changed up a lot. My parents have season tickets for football and I go to some of the games, and it's definitely more comfortable now than it was. It's not spacious, but I wouldn't call it any more cramped than a hockey arena or baseball stadium.

I doubt we see that as a regular line. That would be stacking the team's three most productive offensive forwards on a single line. This would force a second line of what, Hudler/Filppula/Holmstrom? With Draper sitting and Z coming back, most likely Miller is moving to the fourth line. That sets the stage for Franzen to take Miller's spot and Z to take Franzen's; with a Z/Flip (or Dats/Flip) switch if you have Dats and Z apart. Z returning in that fashion works out pretty well actually. -
Incorrect. The Wings cannot play the Kings except in the WCF. The Wings are #3 and the Kings are #7. For the Wings and Kings to play, both teams have to advance. Beyond that we have #1 VAN vs #8 CHI and #4 ANA vs #5 NSH. It can all be summed up simply as follows. If Detroit, LA, and Vancouver win, Vancouver plays LA. If Detroit and LA win, and Vancouver loses, Detroit plays Chicago. Detroit vs LA does not occur before the third round.

Assuming that everyone's healthy, I think you're correct and these are probably the lines we see. If two of Draper, Miller, Helm, and Eaves are injured; then Modano is dressed, Abdelkader takes the fourth line spot, and we only have a minor change. Most of the black aces can play gritty, but ultimately if we have to get down to dressing Mursak, Emmerton, Tatar, and iFlip in the same game there's a bigger issue and the Wings are probably in a situation that doesn't bode well. -
If it's Detroit vs Toronto...I WILL acquire tickets. Especially if it's at the Big House.

If I planned on throwing a dog or cat, I would just get it from PETA because thier shelters kill a higher percentage of incoming animals than any other shelters. Plus the analogy between dog/cat vs octopus is not accurate, as the octopuses were caught for human consumption as food and then sold as such. But this is PETA, so logic doesn't become anyone who represents them.

The Isles also have to compete with the Rangers. Remember this. I know former Islander fans who have actually switched loyalties because of Milbury and Wang.
-
Because he finally drove the net to shoot, and Hudler drew off three defenders and hit him with a perfect pass.

What exactly did I manipulate in my post? I posted what Kesler had done by the time he was Helm's age. It's like the growth of a child. "12 year-old Bobby was two inches taller at age 10 than his brother Joey is." It's a statement of fact, and suggests a likely result. Certainly not a guarantee, but given the closeness of age between Kesler and Helm it's hard to see Helm go from where he is now to where Kesler is in two years. Especially without playing in a situation where he can take advantage of linemates as skilled as or more skilled than he is.
