Franzen's, and Filppula got an assist even though Kronwall and Hudler had touched the puck more recently.

I was calling for a Franzen/Flip/Hudler line since before the season started. They've all shown good chemistry in the past and their skill sets provide three offensively skilled players with a good mix of styles. Hudler is the kind of player who can make an offensive opportunity in just about any situation offensively, and playing with the other two works very well with that.

Swapping Hudler in for Bertuzzi was a terrible idea. Absolutely terrible. /sarcasm
-
That's not really fair. Chicago could probably benefit from a third line of mindfly/GMR/Carman.

I've been calling for this set of lines (swap Miller/Eaves) since Modano was signed. I won't need to defend him.

All-Star Game format change being considered

Because it sucked. Because it will be more fun for the players, they will play harder. Instead of just floating for 45 seconds they will actually play hockey. -
He better ******* make it. He's the second best goalie of his generation, and the guy ahead of him is argued for the top spot all-time. Even if you add on the previous ten years, you only get two more guys better than Osgood, both of whom again are argued for that top spot.

Someone ordered the wrong former WHA team for their Howe jersey.
-
Yeah, it's ok for Franzen to be trying hard and not producing, but when it's Hudler trying hard and not producing much on the scoresheet it's "trade that little bastard!" Must be a size thing.

Players who play forever: Gordie Howe, Chris Chelios, Chris Osgood?

Can't post from my work computer. I know you're independently wealthy and don't have to worry about such things, but us mortals do. Anyway, something that might help Hudler is being put with a linemate or linemates he has worked well with before. Babcock may have been thinking along these same lines as Hudler played half of his ES time last game with Filppula. Maybe it continues and we see something, maybe not.

Get ready folks, hitting is about to exit our game

Yeah, because players should chance their lives and their futures for the entertainment of some assholes up in the 32nd row yelling "beat his ass" as loud as they can possibly yell it. Sounds like a plan. -
You don't have to be a grinder type to be working hard. Just sayin.

Didn't see last game, but I've watched most of the games and every game I've seen he's been s*** offensively. His passing has looked like he's flipping the puck sort of in the direction of a player, and his shot has been unimpressive. He has also made some surprising defensive errors this season. If he's getting back in form, great, but he's been crap so far.

I've been asking that all year.

Because it keeps stupid, off the faceoff fights that happen because one player wants to fight the other because they fought two months ago and he wants a rematch. Maybe it should be modified, and certainly the refs need to pay more attention (how did they know Ericsson started the fight, but not see Brule's crosscheck?) but the concept of the instigator HAS to be in place.
-
Mickey apparently didn't notice that Brule popped Dats with a cross check when he called it a clean hit.
-
What about Bill Bonds or Carmen Harlan? And how about including Robocop as the enforcer?
-
He was one of the Wings' best forwards in the period, and was out there hitting, skating hard, going to the net and the corners, and playing defensive hockey. Hate him all you want I guess, just give the guy credit when he plays well.

Guillaume Latendresse?

It seems like a good idea. But then you have to realize that the puck is not a sphere. If the puck is on edge, flipping over, etc, it can be fully across the red goal line without contacting the yellow line. So painting such a line is a pointless exercise. Several electronic transmitters placed within the puck would allow for electronic verification. Place a good number, maybe ten or so, small transmitters inside the puck. They would be placed within the puck centered a half-inch from each flat side, and that same distance from the outside edge, spaced evenly and placed in a circular formation. The goal post could then contain a detector device which determined whether the puck was fully across the goal line, based on whether or not all of those transmitters had cleared that half-inch past the goal line. This eliminates the "puck on edge" problem with any other type of electronic system or additional visual affirmation such as the yellow line.

The line was the best line on the team for a couple games, ooh!!! Are we going to give out the Norris, Hart, Vezina, and Selke every three games now too? I sure hope so because man that would be SWEET. Hudler wouldn't have been building chemistry with Franzen. You have to play together to build chemistry, and Babcock wouldn't have given Hudler a chance to play with Franzen. Are you serious? The only time Hudler has ever really played much with Franzen has been on the PP. And they have plenty of chemistry there.

So you're saying the reason Bertuzzi works on the second line is that he's good at getting the puck to Franzen, and the thing about Hudler that's bad on the third line is that he's small? Sounds like swapping the two would be a perfect fit then, wouldn't it? Logic, people.
