It's not that hard. All you need is a big baggy hockey jersey and some Saran Wrap. Wear a t-shirt you don't mind getting a wee bit slimy (though, if you boil the octopus beforehand, which you're supposed to do, it's more rubbery than slimy). Wrap the octopus around yourself like it's giving you a big ol' hug, then wrap the Saran tightly around the octopus. If you boiled it good, it won't smell and give you away. Then put the jersey on over top. You can bring a bag if you like, let arena security search the bag and make them feel like they've done their job on you, then head to the mens room and stuff the octopus in the bag. Voila, you have snuck an octopus inside.

Um, yes. Nobody started throwing stuff on the ice til the octopus tradition started getting press. And Florida ruined it for us too, because the league came up with the delay of game rule for throwing stuff on the ice in response to the two thousand rubber rats that went flying at the peak of the Florida tradition. Now you see more octopi at road arenas than you do at the Joe.

This is pretty much the reason I'm trying to bite my tongue on Kronwall. Even though he's been considered a regular since 2003, he's actually got 40 fewer games of NHL experience than a fellow by the name of Sidney P. Crosby. So I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. But his penchant for being out of position is practically Lilja-esque at times, and when he has the puck, he just doesn't concentrate and it leads to silly giveaways.

I think it's pretty selfish of us to complain that Pittsburgh doesn't lose their team just so we can play more games against the Leafs.

Both. Then again, a lot of upsets happen that rational people would have been stupid to call for. *ahem*GEORGE MASON OVER MSU UNC AND UCONN*ahem* It's not totally outside the realm of possibility. We'd have to get Oden in foul trouble, but there are only two guys on the team capable of doing that - Singletary, by driving to the hoop, and Jason Cain, because he's nearly as tall as Oden and isn't completely worthless with the ball in the post. Tunji Soroye is also about as tall as Oden, but is on the court purely for defense. And neither can come anywhere close to the 280 pounds Oden lugs around. On the defensive end, doubling up on Oden is the only way we can stop him. That and hacking his arms off, he's better than most centers at the stripe but still not all that reliable. Frankly, it would be a colossal upset, even though UVA is a #4 seed. Leitao and co. will need to get ahold of some tapes of the Wisconsin game that OSU lost, because somehow, Oden only had six field goal attempts. Whatever they did to deny him the ball is what it will take to beat OSU. I guess I know who isn't winning his pool this year then

We don't score much from the post, but we've got bodies to put on Oden. Lars Mikalauskas has been able to slow down Tyler Hansbrough and match up fairly well with him, so I don't think Oden will be able to dominate the post. He'll get his points, but he'll have to work for them, and maybe he won't be as efficient as he usually is.

We'll never know for sure, obviously. But that's not unheard of. Memory loss is a well-known side effect of concussions. I was watching a football game that Troy Aikman was broadcasting, and they showed a clip of him receiving his last concussion from LaVar Arrington, the one that ended his career. He said "that's literally the first time I've seen that play, because I don't remember it." They showed him sitting on the bench all groggy and talking to various people and he remembered none of that either. Said he remembered taking the snap and that's about it - didn't remember anything that happened for the next several hours. So yeah, if Simon got a concussion, not remembering the incident shouldn't come as any surprise. He's not pleading temporary insanity, obviously.......though concussions are screwy, and is really so hard to imagine that having his brain scrambled by the hit was a contributing factor to what he did? I think that's reasonable. I don't think it's a reason to mitigate his punishment, but it's not inconceivable that's what happened.
