Kenny Rogers = Chelios, not Guillen.
-
So did Kansas City. And KC put an absolute sweetheart of a deal for the Pens - they'd instantly go from one of the worst leases in the league to quite possibly the best.
-
Once again people need to be told not to throw idiotic stereotypes at another fanbase. redwingfan19, do you know how unbelievably arrogant you sound? Thanks once again for being the lowest common denominator and reflecting badly on all of us. The fact that there's a Hockey 101 thread on their site is a good thing. How does we expect the NHL to do well and grow its following among new fans in new cities if there's no way at all to learn the game? This thread is one arrogant post away from getting the A-bomb treatment. Don't be the next person to stereotype Nashville fans as know-nothing crackers.

I really don't think they're serious about Vegas. The Pens are just doing their due diligence. We all know they'll end up in KC, but they need to at least keep up appearances so it looks like their move is a product of a bad situation in Pittsburgh rather than looking like they've been moving to KC all along.

Good, that means it's corroborated somewhat and there's some truth to it. I don't expect all those picks to be part of the deal.....that would be really stupid on ATL's part. I'd even be happy with our first for their first + Schaub. As for Dre Bly, PFW had this to say (paraphrased): The fact that Bly wanted to go to perennial loser Washington for a new contract rather than perennial winner Denver highlights exactly the type of player Marinelli is trying to rid the Lions of in the first place.

Do you really want to join the club? Consider this your one very public warning, if it's a warning you guys want. Taunting and making fun of entire fanbases based on stupid stereotypes isn't welcome. You wouldn't make racial jokes assuming that all black people are dumb, drawling, uneducated gangbangers. Take a look at the reaction to what you think is a wonderfully funny joke, and realize where it gets you. Preds fans see that and hate all of us Wings fans even more. Wings fans don't appreciate being blamed for the stuff you bring down on them. It comes down to this: It's not a freedom of speech issue. You don't own the boards - Matt does. You don't own the server space - Matt does. And Matt does not want his boards cluttered up with crap that serves no purpose except to degrade the reputation of Wings fans, and by extension, the boards themselves. Got it?

Yes, I believe Calvin Johnson is what they're after. He won't fall to 10th. Theory being that Vick needs someone besides Crumpler to throw to, plus, local hero.

***MEGA RUMOR*** OK disclaimer first: basically this is like from my brother's friend's girlfriend's aunt's grandfather's cousin who knows a guy at the gas station who is next door neighbors with the guy who delivers Matt Millen's newspaper. Actually it's from a Lions board of unknown reliability. Sometimes up, sometimes down. BUT: I post it here because, if it comes true, I will do the happy dance of joy for weeks: Atlanta would trade for our #2 pick overall and in return we'd get: their #10 overall pick, their 3rd rounder, their 2008 2nd rounder, and.....wait for it......here it comes, this is the good part.......Matt Schaub. Whaddaya think? Bulls***? Probably, but still.

Chris Osgood Is A Big Fat Idiot - by hockeycrazy3033

True. Opportunity cost is a big part of it. However, I see the Wings as being set up to be major players in this summer's free agent pool, and I think Holland's made his moves with the idea of retooling for the future just as much as contending this year. And that's the big difference between the Preds/Ducks/Sharks/Thrashers, and the Wings. Lots of teams see this as THE YEAR. The Wings don't. Point being, if we can go deep into the playoffs, bonus, but overall, Holland's willing to take the risk it doesn't happen in order to make sure we're set up for success down the road. That's a lot harder to do when you haven't sucked for 15 years and you don't have a prospect pool filled with high draft picks.

Wouldn't be the first time I've stated my definition of grit in the past, and it's at least understood that Z fits that definition, even if Barnes^2 and Lou don't agree with the definition itself.

Man, this whole week is going sooooooooo slooooooooooooooowwwwwwww waiting for the ACC tournament to begin! I am very much not happy at all about losing to Wake Forest and blowing the outright regular season championship, but when it comes down to it, it's the winner of the tournament that goes down in the record books. Just having the 2nd seed is blowing away expectations, so that's a plus. If Singletary and Reynolds take over like they're capable of doing, we've got just as good a chance as anyone to come out on top. Not quite OSU-style expectations, but we don't have Greg Oden either.

I hope you're right. It'd be nice if the Bears weren't so good, just to have an easier division, although I have the ugly feeling that if the Bears crap out, the Vikings take over and that's no good at all. I do have a soft spot for Jones, as he is a product of UVA, and I'm very happy to see him get a backfield all his own.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!! Yes, a hearty WELCOME TO DETROIT CITY is in order for Kyle Calder. Does anyone not think this team is on the right track? By all accounts a good hard-fought two points today, and we can still look forward to the return to the lineup of three of our grittiest players (Z, Homer, Bert). Oh, and much love for the underappreciated Langer. Does Calder-Lang-Bert strike anyone as kind of a fun idea? Then we can have Cleary bring some rejuvenation to a line with Draper and Maltby.

Believe me.....the door is WIDE open for bashing, whining, and senseless comparisons no matter WHAT one random poster says. That stuff goes on regardless.

42 pages, 1000+ posts.........and yet, Nashville isn't a rival, and shootouts are terrible
-
Well I hate to confuse you even further but it's really an I-know-it-when-I-see-it kind of thing. Cussing is allowed on the boards, excessive cussing is not, and excessive cussing usually ends up meaning multiple posts, unless the one post is just egregious. Generally, if you're wondering what the line is when it comes to removing threads, threads get removed when they reflect poorly on the site and the site's membership as a whole, rather than reflecting poorly on just one idiot member. Such as several members getting so mad at each other they're all treading the line on the forum guidelines. Or when the discussion has obviously reached a point where it's not going anywhere because it's been so badly derailed by one shouting match. Again though - there's no hard and fast rule, other than what's posted on the forum guidelines.
-
Of course not. However, some definitions of constructive game-related criticism are a bit shall we say looser than others.

If the players need rest, Babcock will give it to them. They've done it in the past. They wouldn't need to play games with injury reports.

If Pitt. Goes To KC Do The Wings Or The Preds Go East?
betterREDthandead replied to a topic in General
This one disappeared earlier because it's already being talked about at great length in the other PIT thread. Not to mention the fact that if anyone felt like it, they could dig up one of the many past threads on the subject as well. -
I've got no qualms about taking Thomas, I don't care what position they all play. Having too many guys who play a certain position is better than what they've had in the past, which is too many guys who can't play at all.

If it were within my power to do that, I'd pack up tomorrow. No......tonight.

A long time, unfortunately. Long story, but the sum and gist of it is, the powers that be in the Navy are RETARDS. Leaves plenty of time if you want to swing down to Sandog for a visit

Standing up story - what bugged me at the Yzerman ceremony is, I was in SRO and of course, there are standing O's galore, and people all standing for long lengths of the ceremony. Can't see s*** from SRO because they got those rows of folding chairs on the same level, so of course everyone in SRO creeps up so they can see, and the ushers move EVERYONE back to the wall. Like anyone's trying to walk around the arena and go to the bathroom when Probert or Vladdy's being introduced. Random complaint. Glad I got that off my chest. Please continue.
