Ahhhh yes.....the Jug returns to its rightful place in Ann Arbor. Next week: the Paul Bunyan Trophy stays where it belongs too.

Twins lose again today to the White Sox. The Tigers can clinch the division and secure a home-field series with Oakland with a win.

Illinois is driving for the winning score with under 30 seconds.... And they kick the winning field goal - 23-20, Illini. Every year it's the same story for MSU. Everyone thinks they're looking pretty good and they should provide a real challenge for the Big Ten, and every year they completely fail to live up to expectations. No wonder Sparty fans are so bitter towards Michigan

Time to take the Little Brown Jug back today! Go Blue! And I'm hoping for another milestone today. If my sorry-ass 'Hoos can score two touchdowns against sorry-ass Duke (and kick the extra points) it'll be the most points they've scored all year, against a schedule that so far has included the likes of Western Michigan and Wyoming.

The Navy works holiday leave at Christmastime so that half the ship goes home for Christmas and the other half for New Year's. I don't know which I'm gonna pick yet, but if it's the New Years option, you can more than likely count me in for whatever goes on around then.

San Diego has a phenomenal downtown and overall it's a pretty nice city, but I would rather park my car on the corner of Gratiot and Mack with a sign that said "EXPENSIVE RADIO INSIDE" than anywhere in San Diego's Barrio Logan.

I don't really get into soccer unless it's the World Cup or maybe the qualifiers. Maybe if Detroit had an MLS team, or if I spent like a month or two in England becoming a fan of a certain team, but I just can't get into a league across the ocean. Especially when I have no particular reason to root for any one team.

Uh-oh amberlynn....you are in trouble....she threatened me with all sorts of horrible punishments just for showing up 15 minutes late and making her wait at the bar :battle: had a great time though. Can't wait to do it again.

    Top 20

Ryno's really flying up the charts, now ranked at #6. The two guys I'm most looking forward to seeing how they do this year are Evan McGrath and Jonathan Ericsson. I'd love to see Ericsson mix it up this year in the AHL. With that kind of size if he can even lace up a pair of skates he's a pretty good imposing obstacle for opposing forwards. Bonus if he can also skate.

After this series, the Tigers have 18 games left, including six against Kansas City. Chicago and Minnesota have a big, big 3-gamer looming to close the season. I like how the schedule shakes out, especially if we can take two more in this series.

Miami/FSU happens every season, it's an ACC game now. The ACC controls that scheduling. But what about Tennessee/Cal? Nebraska/USC? Florida/FSU? West Virginia/Maryland? There's lots of good quality non-conference games out there.....you just won't find more than one per team because it's silly of a big school to put all that postseason bowl money on the line for the sake of a game that doesn't earn them anything except for excited commentators.

Detroit Lions, NFL 2006 Season Thread

Way way low expectations....home game against an opponent everyone knows is superior....this one really has all the fingerprints of a game the Lions will win. They'll beat the defending NFC champs at home, probably by a score of 13-7 as the offense sputters horribly but the defense holds it down. With the Seahawks due for a 7-9 season as the Super Bowl losers, the Lions should go ahead and win this one, getting fan expectations way up (but don't worry, Lion lovers, they'll lose five of their next six.) We'll ignore the fact that the offense played like there was toxic waste in the end zone and are likely to continue doing that for half the season and start going "wow, this might be the year!", but next week is a game in Chicago, that'll be a loss for sure against a supposedly "easier" opponent that just happens to be a division rival. Anyone who picks the Seahawks hasn't watched the Lions for very long.

Rogers was the first WR of the three, so it's hardly fair to use that as a criticism. There are so many other ways to criticize the Rogers pickup, anyway. Oh, and count me in the 2% that criticized the Rogers draft from the get-go. I saw too many drops from him during his last season at MSU. Mateen Cleaves was a bust too. I hate drafting hometown guys in the first round....it always seems like they're being drafted because of media pressure.

No tournament OR playoff - EVER - in college football! I feel very strongly about this. By using a tournament, they're trying to solve the Auburn problem, in which Auburn was one of three undefeated teams, only two of which could play for the national title. Someone got left out. But in a four or eight team tournament, more teams will be complaining that they're just as worthy as those who did get selected. Seems like every year the experts try to find plausible scenarios for the BCS to implode, and every year it works out just fine. Sure, the BCS is weird and myself, I'd like to see the plus-one idea the commissioners seem to like. But anything's better than a damn playoff. Keep the tradition of the bowl system. PS: Cut the bowls way down, please. Keep the following bowls: Rose Orange Sugar Fiesta Cotton Holiday Gator Citrus (NOT Capital One) Peach (NOT Chick-Fil-Friggin-A) Independence Liberty Sun Motor City Alamo Hall of Fame (NOT Outback) Copper (NOT Insight) Aloha Chosen for their names and/or tradition and because I like having one in Detroit, and because there should always be a bowl in Hawaii, and Hawaii Bowl is a boring name. The rest can take off and shove it. There are 33 bowls, which means more than half the teams in I-A will play in one. Actually, what I'd like to see is a rule: Rank the bowls in a hierarchy and then tell them that if there aren't enough bowl-eligible teams, some bowls get chopped, and financially reimbursed by the filthy-rich NCAA. Make seven wins the requirement.

That's pretty much exactly the directions I got from my French teacher in high school. Boy do you sound Frenchy when you start doing that. Monsieur Granger was always trying to have us get rid of our American accents when speaking French and that is a great way to start sounding European.
