I think the team should retain the name "Red Wings" but change everything that's red on the jersey to silver, and replace the Winged Wheel logo with a Stanley Cup. The Winged Wheel can be a shoulder patch or something. That way you've got the best of both worlds: the traditionalists are happy, because what could be a more traditional representation than good ol' Lord Stanley? The merchandise sellers would be happy, of course. And we'd finally be showing off what the rest of the league already knows: the Wings are the team most often identified with the Cup, so why not make it official?

No.

so in other words you totally missed the point. can I get a mod to delete this and start over or something? both of you completely ignored me when I said this isn't about which is more likely to win the Cup.....the point is, we've already won the Cup, which goalie do you want to see get the credit?

Miami's loss today means that a Piston victory tomorrow over Phoenix wraps up the #1 seed. Very glad to see Joe D. in the HoF. Will his plaque say Joe DUUUUUUUUUUUmars? The Pistons have had a lot of great players - Dave Bing, Dave DeBusschere, Isiah, Laimbeer, etc. - but Dumars, with a trophy named for him and all his success as GM, has to be considered the greatest Piston of them all.

lots of times the 1st pick turns out to be a bust look no further than Patrik Stefan Sidney Crosby, Alexander Oveckin, Rick Nash, Ilya Kovalchuk, Vincent Lecavalier, Joe Thornton, Ed Jovanovski, Mats Sundin, Mike Modano, Mario Lemieux, etc etc. Lots of busts there. Going by this list, which is subjective, only four #1 overall draft picks are listed as busts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NHL_Draft_Busts i never said he'd be THE 1st pick (overall), i said he'd be A 1st pick how many 1st pick busts where listed on that page 100+??? side note: now they are only going back to about 1965 thats 40 1st overall picks and 4 busts, thats 1 in 10, thats one every decade this could be that bust Say what now? I believe that's a "the". Anyway, your logic is as silly as it gets. Let's review: Kessel will be a bust because 1 in 10 first overall picks are busts, so he could be a bust too. Never mind that, apparently, 9 in 10 first overall picks have very successful careers. Are you English or retarded? no idiot I think he will be a bust because I don't think he is capable of adjusting to the NHL you started the bust conversation saying "I didn't realize we had professional scouts on our board. He'll probably be a top 3 pick." then just told YOU that "lots of times the 1st pick turns out to be a bust" (then clarified i ment 1st round) Nice one. Read the thread again to find out who really said that. Not that I disagree with BlakChamber. I happen to agree with him, and I think most people here realize that if indeed you are right, it will be no fault of your own. I just didn't realize I had another username. edit: Can't believe I wasted post #3000 on this one.

It's too bad we're not likely to see the Pistons use the same starting lineup all season, unless Sheed can cool his heels for the last 15 or so games.

Yeah, that's right. Turd Ferguson. Funny name.

Damn you and your Daily Doubles, ya brigand!

George Mason is in the Final Four! Holy s**t! Now they've beaten MSU, UNC, and UConn...to say nothing of Wichita State, which pulled off a big upset of their own. Anybody think Mason could go all the way?

that's going to be either his immature way of trying to set you up for the fact that he already is, or his immature way of trying to change something about you.

"This is the only month that starts with Feb." "Febtober!" "No." "What is....Febturday?" "SHE SAID TURD!"

Unlikely? I was just thinking the Blues are a very likely destination. I think they'd jump at the chance, especially since Chicago and Pittsburgh are more likely to go after a defenseman. Wouldn't mind seeing him go to Chicago, though....if he does, there's a chance I might get to see him play as a Norfolk Admiral

woooooooooo fight night at Scope last night! I love when Admirals games get mean. Steve Munn landed some hard rights on Geoff Peters (who probably spent a solid 15-20 minutes of game time in the box for various infractions throughout the game) and then took him hard to the ice. Section 112, by the way, rules. it's right behind the opposing penalty box. some of the better heckles: (to a chubby linesman after a bogus offside) "eat your whistle, ref, you eat everything else!" "hey Gavey, what'd they give you, 10 minutes to life?" (two misconducts) "Gavey, you keeping that seat warm for Peters or what?" "PETERS SUCKS PETERS!" oh and for the record: 3-2 victory over the Atlantic-leading Portland Pirates

I wish his AHL success would translate to the NHL. 3 points in 16 NHL games is pretty weak. Still, Kindl hasn't even spent a year as a Wings prospect and, even with a pretty good year at Kitchener, it's surprising to see him up so high....HF does tend to put a lot of weight on players who were more recently drafted, I suppose. You'd think that a great year in the AHL would be worth more in their ratings than a great year in juniors.

Soriono what the heck is he thinking
betterREDthandead replied to wingfanatic4alltime's topic in Other Sports
Soriano is a jackass. If he doesn't want to play left field for the Nationals, I'll volunteer. I may go to a game in DC just to yell at him....if he ever gets his sorry ass off the bench this year. -
guess I gotta say something.

Magic number for clinching #1 overall is 9. Assuming nobody overtakes Miami.
-
And loses 38-35.

Bradley, Wichita State, and George Mason have crashed the Sweet 16 uninvited so far. Good for them. And either Wichita State or George Mason will make the Elite 8 to likely play UConn. Bonus: Ohio State is getting a straight-up beating from Georgetown, down by 13 at the half.

And your podium is gone. You lost your podium.
