http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2236033 Anyone else think this is a HUGE part of the problem? Granted, it's Thanksgiving weekend and players need to be with their families. But "business as usual" should not have been the plan of the day. Mariucci, if he wants to save his job, owes it to the organization to put in some extra work and maybe put the guys in pads for a little effort in the morning, since they obviously didn't put any forth the day before.

Well, you can apply that to Sanders as well... Not really, because the fact that Sanders was on a s***ty team makes him even better. He had no protection due to a (similar to now) worthless o-line. On the other side of the ball it's totally different. Why? Maybe if he was on a good team with a better cornerback across from him (R.W's not that bad though) he'd have more picks cause teams wouldn't stay away from his side of the field. "I've read columns" is pretty weak evidence for his being overrated...."I've watched games" and I, along with most people who have, think Bly is probably the best player on the Lions right now. Bad hand or no.
-
Would have had two picks yesterday if not for that cast. Bly is one of the best. Secondary was not a huge problem yesterday.
-
I've only heard that the NFLPA wants him fired, which comes naturally as they lost the ruling. In fact, Bloch is in line to rule on the Lions' grievance against Charles Rogers.

My theory is Harrington went out for two reasons: one, changing the QB is the tried-and-true way for a coach to "light a fire" under his team, and two, once Mooch realized the offensive line couldn't stop little old grannies from getting to the QB, they figured they may as well at least have someone who can scramble around a little bit to avoid the rush. Harrington doesn't get the blame for today's debacle, at least in my book, but the fact that he's failed to deliver for three years now sort of adds up. If he's not gone by the end of this season, I'll be pretty surprised.

it comes as no surprise. How many penalties last game, and this one? Next they need to fire the entire offensive line. More so than the coaching, the O-line is abysmal - they can't protect the QB and they can't block for the run. Kelly Butler must be pretty decent, because the moment he went out with an injury, Patrick Kerney absolutely abused his replacement. Raiola is a putz though, as is Kyle Kosier, Woody is nowhere near Pro Bowl level (or even Motor City Bowl level), and DeMulling is a total flop. I'll give Backus a pass, he's playing hurt. Anybody else isn't even worth a mention. and the entire offensive scheme blows. if Mooch is indeed out the door, I'd better not hear anything about what a great West Coast offense the new coach brings to the table, whether it's now or when a permanent one is hired in the offseason. Ditch the Wet Toast. Send Charles Rogers packing (thanks for nothing, MSU, Mateen Cleaves sucked too). Pollard and Mike Williams should be ashamed of themselves for the passes they keep dropping, but kept, for now. Finally, I'm still driving the Trade for Matt Schaub bandwagon! And by the way, I'm'a be pissed if y'all are telling me a tale and there isn't a changing of the guard in the head coach's office. Sometimes firing the coach immediately is the best way to tell the players "you guys, collectively, suck."
-
that was embarassing. the offensive line should be ashamed of itself. I say cut them all and pick up some guys who look like they want to play in this league.
-
Bye bye. Hope he goes to the Cowboys or Packers next so he can commence destroying them from the inside out too.
-
Yes, even though the Lions are crummy. Michael Vick will be on too. And who knows, the Lions might pull one off
-
I'd hate to see Sheed leave, he's a real personality for the Pistons, but strictly on the court, it'd be a great deal for Detroit.

just one game. means nothing in college basketball. Could be a sign...... A highly ranked team in the beggining of the season, losing a game it should have won....... Sounds familiar around here.... Not a very good sign, then, not for a U-M fan. Remember UNC losing to Santa Clara last year?
-
edit....sorry....can't get a link to work....suffice to say....two is better than one....take that as you will and i'll have a nice non-offensive picture for you to enjoy.
-
Just gettin' back at Moo U. for siding with Ohio State They're all fill-in-the-school generic jokes anyway....you can substitute Ohio State, Virginia Tech, or Florida State at your leisure. It's like, why did they have artificial turf at Spartan Stadium? - Kept the cheerleaders from grazing. Why was it replaced with natural grass? - They were grazing anyway.
-
What do a Michigan student and a Michigan State student have in common? - They were both accepted at MSU.
-
They are easily the best conditioned team in the NBA, there isn't anything to worry about. 10 people played in last nights game for the Pistons, who also played very well when they were behind. I don't know if you watched the game or not but I watched the whole thing and the bench contributed quite a bit, offense and defense. The bench isn't going to play 30 minutes a game, 20 minutes a game seems right, 25 tops. Nobody can beat the Pistons this year, sorry gowingsgo and Rampage, but it ain't happenin'. If you think they are good now wait 2-3 months down the road. "With us, we didn't like the taste we had in our mouths all summer. No disrespect to San Antonio, but we knew we could have beat them in Game 7," Rasheed Wallace said."" 15-20 minutes would be about right for the bench....but they didn't even touch 12 against the Celtics. Check out the last game against Boston, or any close one so far - same thing. The bench has only gotten significant time when the game is under control the whole way. Flip will probably learn to trust the bench a little more as the season goes on, but right now he's leaning very heavily on the starters. I think it'll happen after the first loss....right now they clearly want to keep the streak going.
-
Pistons win again, 115-100 over Boston. Looks like Flip is developing a habit of relying extremely heavily on his starters in close games or when the Pistons are behind, as they were again tonight. Hopefully he will learn to trust his bench a bit more....only Arroyo and Dice got so much as 11 minutes, Mo Evans with 10 was the only other reserve to play double digit minutes. That will have to change or there will be a tired starting five come May. First-round pick Jason Maxiell saw some action too, hitting the only shot he took for 2 points in 2 minutes.
-
I'm afraid he'll be just that. Back on the topic of the scoreboard....today I got an email back from the Kings spokeslady in response to the complaint I sent last week....a pretty standard form-letter kind of thing, and quite a bit later than I might have expected (do they have people whose only job the past week has been to answer all the angry Pistons fans' emails?) but frankly I'm surprised and pleased to get anything back at all. Gotta hand it to the Sacramento Kings...they have gone all-out and I certainly think that says something good about their organization.
-
true....just because the scouts were out, and Niinimaa is mentioned in the article, it doesn't necessarily add up to Wings interest in Niinimaa. Not a bad 3rd or 4th d-man, actually, Niinimaa, but he makes 1st or 2nd d-man money.....a no-no in the Brave New NHL.

How do you keep a Buckeye off your front lawn? - Put up goalposts. Why should you drive through Columbus with your window rolled down? - So they can toss you your diploma on the way past. Why don't they have ice on the sidelines at Ohio State games? - The guy with the recipe graduated.
-
I still want Matt Schaub.

The line offered protection because Arizona has no pass rush. They're freaking Arizona. But it's nice to see Roy Williams finally in the lineup....the Lions really are a different team with him in there, because he's the one guy who's a threat to make the passing game work.
-
Oh yes, I'm fantastically excited about a good showing against the Arizona Cardinals. Game isn't even over yet...let's relax and let the Lions finish out their 6-10 season in peace.
-
traitor to the state of Michigan .... and just when we're actually hoping for MSU to get a win, too. how rude. GO BLUE.
-
OSU is finished before it begins. The game is at the Big House and Michigan is getting healthy - Mike Hart will be back on the field. The defense is getting it together. Michigan 29, OSU 21.
