By the way, the other side of my sign would say "NOW I believe in now!"

FIRE MILLEN AGAIN If I were going to the next Lions game, that'd be the sign I'd bring, anyway.

BEST DAY EVER Addendum: It doesn't matter what happens the rest of the season. 2008 is officially a grand success. The team could go 0-16 and it would not outweigh today's awesomeness.

Something will happen this year that I haven't seen since 5th grade and that has never happened in the wild-card era: the baseball playoffs without the New York Yankees. Sweet.

Alfred E. Neuman? A rabid skunk? Who cares? Who could possibly not be an improvement? I don't think there's any "hearsay" about Cowher, it's just that he happens to be unemployed and people are wishing. I doubt anyone in the Lions organization is seriously considering the idea, because nobody in the Lions organization is that bright. -
Agree 100% with '35-'36. Don't like the idea of '37-'38. The Blackhawks (Black Hawks) had some fiercely awful sweaters that year.

The candy-canes are stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. If a new team came out looking like that they'd be laughed off the ice. The only reason people like them is because they're old. There's nothing "awesome" about them. They don't "kick ass". They're a full frontal assault on the eyes. They're not even that all that vintage - they were worn for one year. I hope and expect that the old-style logo will accompany those old-style jerseys for the game. But they're already most of the way to perfection here - just get the logo right. THANK GOD they did not go with the candy-stripes - now we just have to hope Chicago doesn't go with their licorice-stripes and then epilepsy sufferers can watch the game in peace.

Yeah, I read that. That would be sweet. It's weird, part of the reason I started being a Robby fan in the first place is because of his independent streak trying to go it alone as a driver-owner, but now that I am a fan, I'd like to see what he can do when he gets back in a team ride. He's already getting Penske engines now instead of GEM, which I think will be a good thing because I suspect Penske has somewhat better equipment. (Still Dodge though.) Joining up with DEI would have some obstacles because the most likely driver to leave would be Paul Menard, and RGM has a pretty sizable partnership with Menard's. But DEI could really use a boost of driving talent, and swapping out Menard for Gordon would be huge there. Plus they could get some old Dale swagger back, and Almirola and Smith would have someone they could actually learn to drive from. (Though Almirola's been understudying with Mark Martin some.)

It is a damning statement, and it is exactly what we need. I just don't see WCF being moved to action any time soon. He has a long and inglorious history of waiting way too long to fire people. Darryl Rogers literally had to ask "What's it take to get fired around here?" when he realized he'd have been gonzo in any other organization. -

If WCF can ignore 31-81 in seven full seasons, he surely can ignore an 0-8 start. I don't think Millen will ever be fired based on how bad the team is, otherwise he'd have been long gone already. It will take more instances like Bill Ford yesterday, and pressure from other embarrassed people in the organization, to get Millen out of here. -

I'm pissed. Unfortunately I'm acutely aware of the record in the Millen era. Just think: Next year they can make it 100 losses. This should not be hard as they're looking at easily 10 more this year alone. This bye week is coming at a sucky time. Bye weeks are a great time to step back and assess what you've got, which means they're a great time for some firings to happen. Mariucci got fired during the bye week. Sadly it's early in the year, which means the Kool-Aid is still in full effect at Clown HQ. Millen's all claiming "I see good things happening in practice" but he has no idea what to look for. -
It's not hideous, I think, just lame. The Blues jersey is nice there but the problem is that the ring-around-the-logo thing is becoming the latest trend, and it's gonna make everyone look like cookie-cutouts if it keeps growing.

Definitely a good race today. Toyotas blowing up left and right? Check. Misfortune for KyBusch? Double check. Halfway decent finish for Robby Gordon? Check. (22nd - hasn't done that well since the Daytona race in July. Terrific racing at the end? Check. Those Roush boys were really going at it - wouldn't it have been something if they'd all taken each other out? Not that I'd have liked that much, I like the Roush drivers. Looking forward to the Talladega race in October. RGordon's finished 8th, 6th, and 11th at the superspeedways. Just wish he would get back into a Ford or a Chevy.

I'm officially on the Fire Marinelli bandwagon. Blow up the organization. Not that I wasn't already on the Fire Millen bandwagon about four or five years ago. Everyone from Millen on down to the ball boy needs to be thrown out on their ass. What a pathetic clownshow. When I go home for Thanksgiving, I'll be pulling for the team to win, because I can't help myself when I actually watch the games - it's like someone throws a YAY LIONS switch in my head. When I'm not watching the team, I hope they get blown the f*** out 62-3 every ******* game so the ******* f***ups running the show have to either clear the f*** out or live with their complete ******* failure and total ******* inability to perform a ******* job. I hope it is killing them inside, but I'm betting not. I don't blame the players. They're just players. There've been some cancers, but for the most part they're just players. If there wasn't giant black hole of f***upitude sitting in the Ford Field offices, they'd be scattered around the league being harmlessly inept for other teams, and probably at least getting decent coaching. It's not their fault Assclown Millen brought them all into one place and Assclown Marinelli can't coach them. Marinelli made sure "his" kind of guy got brought in - apparently he prefers No Talent to Talent. Millen seems to prefer Talent but wouldn't know what Talent is if it ran him over with a ******* bus. f*** MILLEN. -
I never liked the old Sabres logo. A buffalo.....and some sabres. Gosh, that's creative. Not that the Buffaslug is great either, but....meh. Pretty lame.

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...ORTS05/80919047 Kind of like the Wings' Matt Millen, only he had a tremendous amount of success coaching in college. And "Darkness with Harkness" is the coolest name for a slump, ever.

That quarterback needs to learn to throw first. His arm strength is impressive, but he missed quite a few receivers and missed them badly.

Yes, but I believe there's also a clause that says he's still Wings property if he does so and can't sign with another team. -

There's a difference between wanting to see your rivals lose, and caring about that more than wanting your own team to win. Spartans fans love to say they're rooting for "whoever is playing Michigan." When's the last time you heard a Michigan fan say that about a rival? Spartan fans call it a great day to be a Spartans fan when Michigan loses, especially when the loss is particularly embarrassing. When's the last time you heard a Michigan fan do that? Spartans fans took actual joy in the passing of Bo Schembechler. I guarantee you won't see that when Tom Izzo passes on. Michigan fans have GO BLUE on their bumper stickers and you almost never see a sign, bumper sticker, or what-have-you that denigrates the rivals. It's more common to see a GO BLOW bumper sticker on an MSU fan's car than GO GREEN. Wrong. That's a very Michigan State outlook. That's what being a Spartans fan means. Michigan fans tend to prefer that their rivals have good seasons to make it all that much sweeter when we beat them. Do I get a little schadenfreude when OSU gets curb-stomped like that? Sure. But if it comes down to the end of the season and OSU is 3-8, what fun would that be?
-
The problem with MSU fans and football is that they care more about Michigan football losing than State football winning. That's why I put MSU football fans among the worst. (No, not Mississippi, Montana, or Missouri, either.) I mean, did anyone see the thread on the RCMB when Bo Schembechler died? I can only describe it as glee. State fans don't care what or when or how Michigan loses, they only care that it happens.
-
That's only because they see you Sparties as a brother-in-arms - the enemy of my enemy is my friend, etc. A Michigan license plate in Ohio is like a Key This Car sign, unless you have the Spartan logo somewhere like a protective amulet. Personally I think the list is grade-A stupidity. Or laziness. They just compiled a list of the biggest-name teams in the country is all. The top two worst fanbases in the country, in order, are Maryland and MSU. Some others that deserve top-10, if not top-5, are West Virginia, Rutgers, Texas Tech, and Tennessee. If the people who'd compiled the list actually went to games, they'd have this figured out.

I was really pissed at Kitna for all of five seconds, then the numbness kicked in. Besides, it's much easier and more fun to direct the entirety of my rage at the one man responsible for the whole awful mess in the first place: Matthew George Millen. WCF, whatever, dude's just senile and lazy. Millen is flat-out incompetent. Pure, unadulterated, 100% Grade A incompetence. Least of our problems, you know?
