The Wings didn't play an entire 60 minute game at any point in the finals. The fact of the matter is that the Wings are talented enough to win with a partial effort most of the time but you can't beat a team like the Pens if you are going to sleepwalk through most of the game. It's also a bit disappointing when a player saves his absolute worst game of the playoffs for game 7 of the cup finals (hint- I'm talking about Brad Stuart). Also, I just hope the Wings don't offer Hossa any big money this offseason. Hossa either played most of the playoffs with some latent injury or he just decided not to show up for most of the games. But the bottom line is that the Pens are a great team and they most definitely earned the cup this season. Congrats to them.

I was just listening to an NHL talk show on sirius and it was Bill Clement and Gary Bettman talking about the playoffs and taking calls at the end. A couple of people danced around the issue of the apparent bias of the refs in this series and Gary just said that it was typical for fans to hate every call against their team. The final caller of the show threw out all sorts of statistics proving that the Pens have been getting preferential treatment throughout the playoffs and just as the caller finished with the stats, the music started playing and Gary said, "I'm sorry to cut you off but we're really out of time." It was hilarious and sad at the same time. Did anyone else hear this?

I think winning it for the city of Detroit and all the fans that are going through tough times right now should be enough to motivate the Wings.

Hey guys, I wasn't really trying to say that the Pens have definitely been getting special treatment in these playoffs (though it might seem that way), I posted this because it was funny the way this caller threw a bunch of stats in Bettman's face and once the calller stopped talking, the show was out of time... sorry. I also liked when another caller said that it was funny that Malkin didn't get suspended after the instigator penalty at the end of game 2. Bettman said that the suspension can be reviewed and repealed and that what Malkin did wasn't really what the instigator penalty was all about. Bettman said that the instigator rule was more about people trying to send messages at the end of the game. The funny part about that was when, in another portion of the same show, Pierre McGuire said he liked the fact that Malkin challenged Zetterberg at the end of game 2 to send a message to the teams that he's willing to do what it takes to win.

I don't remember all the stats but I think the guy said that the Pens have had 20+ PPs more than their opponents so far in the playoffs and that the Pens have had the first PP of the game 74% of the time this postseason.

Who is going to step up and be the hero in game 7? I'm hoping it will be Hossa but it's more likely that someone like Helm will have a big goal.

The Wings showed some great effort at times but they also looked uninterested at other times. You can't discount the effort by the Pens in this game. GAME 7!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hossa and the rest of the Wings need to step up and hoist the cup on home ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well let's be real about Melrose's comments. Datsyuk's skating is not a thing of beauty, such as someone like Fedorov in his prime. That's really all that the mullet meant by that comment, Datsyuk doesn't skate pretty but it's not a beauty contest.

I've got an autographed Zetterberg jersey from last year's cup finals. It's nice but I don't want to wear it for fear of ruining it. I would consider getting a Helm jersey, I hope the Wings keep him around for a long time.

I agree that we can't just dump Homer because he's getting older. Holmstrom is still valuable on the PP (he pretty much revolutionized the way people screen on the PP) and even if they just decide to cut his ice time and reserve him for the PP, he's still worth having on the team.

With the stats Osgood has had this postseason and his impressive career finals stats, I think it's time Osgood wins the Conn Smythe.

That post about Lidstrom probably could not be further from the truth. Maybe that guy is confused as to who Lidstrom is, maybe he's thinking of a different player.

Wings need to carry this victory into game 2 and hold their home ice advantage. Hopefully Dats will be back by game 3 so we can embarrass the Pens at home.

The Blackhawks have come a long way in a short time. They are going to be tough for years to come.

I think the most important thing about Hossa isn't who his linemates are, it's how hard Hossa decides to play. Hossa definitely elevated his play in game 4, he was skating faster and going to the net a lot more than he had in the first 3 games of this series. Flip is definitely working well with Hossa but if Hossa decides to lay back and take it easy in game 5, he won't do much regardless of his linemates.

I hear they have a great salad bar...
